Timing of today’s minor final won’t see many farmers at it. If you’re in south Kilkenny , you’re talking about leaving your house at 3:30 latest and home at 8 maybe. Just not feasible at this time of year, especially if your milking cows.
we have a Leinster minor final in Portlaoise today at 5.10 against Galway, show your support these young lads are well worth watching. Don’t mind the television get out in the fresh air and shout on your county.
I remember well Kilkenny's AI victory against Galway in 2015. Our 11th AI under Cody, our 8th in 10 years. By the time we reached the M50 after the match, talk had turned to the club chamionship. The homecoming was a damp squib. We were spoiled by our success
Since then, we have contested 10 AI in 10 years between Senior, U20 and minor. Won 1 of these matches, questioned by Limerick missing a few players
We need a big crowd to support our team. The crowd does make a difference. We need a successful team to get behind. We have an AI20 Final next week and 2 Leinster Finals the following week.Need all the crowd suppording us
Apologies Brian I thought the post was about the next game 👍
That’s the minor Leinster Final. The U20 AI Final is on Saturday week at 3pm
They probably looking to see if Mullen can handle Chin at 11 for Wexford, then he can handle any other centre forward in Ireland.
A chance for Drennan and Wall to put their hands up aswel.
If you've seen him for the last number of years for the shamrocks he is worth a shot there.
Hopefully Drennan has a good game and gets a bit of confidence back, good to see Bay Hammond get a run as well.
Yes i would agree with all that. Deegan and Reid in there 30s now, there long enough and have limitations, while Carey and Blanchfield are better on the wings, they just don't have the quality of hurling required for a centre back in possession at the highest level. We need a top quality centre back or else we will be waiting longer for an All Ireland. Hopefully it works out well for him now.
Limerick moved Hannon from wing forward to centre back. Clare moved Conlan from full forward to centre back. Galway have moved Gavin Lee from wing forward to centre back. All of those lads were/are scoring forwards. Teams are willing to sacrifice scoring forwards since a centre back is more important to a team’s success. The lads who have played centre back, Richie Reid, Carey, Deegan and Blanchfield, haven’t looked the answer to it. Worth trying Mullen as he’s good in the air, equally good striker off either side, well able to pick out a pass, quick turn of pace, decent tackling wise and he can strike long range points. It might actually help the forwards more if he’s on the ball more since his deliveries could be better than what has been going into them.
Happy with that team selected although I wouldn't have minded Tallis instead of Eoin Murphy but that's a minor quibble.
I kind of agree that we need him at half forward picking off scores but it's confirmation to me that they are worried about 6 and looking at what to do there. Thought we were going to just do the same thing as the last few years.
Exciting team, this will do the panel the world of good, win win for Derek with that team, any big performances and he will be delighted. It would be great to see some of these lads hungry to make an impression.
5 thomastown lads starting and one on the bench, hopefully Owen Walls pace can hurt Wexford.
Not so sure about that. I can never understand why anyone would want to put a scoring forward back in the backs.

Mullen at 6 is definitely worth trying. He has the hurling, physique and recovery pace
According to the sky listing's this morning it's on TG4 at 5pm
They'll probably show Meagher and Rackard finals on their YouTube channel.
With the amount of braindead decisions they've made this season regarding scheduling and television (even worse than their normal awful standard in this regard), this wouldn't surprise me in the least. Would probably be good for attendance though...
Surely there’s a mistake on the GAA website. They have it down as getting no TV coverage. They list TG4 are showing the Rackard and Meaghar Cup finals instead.
absolutely.
No excuse, fill the stadium
Tipp will come in there droves if they think they will beat us whereas we will struggle to bring 6 thousand. We were outnumbered last year for the minor final. This county is slowly rising again and the supporters will have to start coming out again.
Minors,20s,seniors all unbeaten so far and underage also going well.fair play to all involved.
I don't think there'll be any problem with attendance. I'd expect a huge crowd from both counties. Great to have a final to look forward to.
It'll be a tough one against a very strong tipperary but I think kilkenny have every chance. Well done to the team on the victory tonight.
Losing by 2 pts to the subsequent All Ireland Champions last year can hardly be classed as being "run ragged", Tonight in Portlaoise this years version definitely did run Dublin ragged. Well done to all the players , Mark Dowling and his management team. Great performance and a lot of potential for the future. Huge shot in the arm for Kilkenny Hurling.
Marty Murphy was suffering the effects of flu I heard earlier today.
Saturday week
Kk play with 7 backs & Lahoff plays midfield
can’t just launch every ball on marty with a forward down
bet Dublin well, they knocked out AI champs Offaly and a good galway group
great win, onwards & upwards
My thoughts entirely JJ poor crowd in Portlaoise tonight,it’s not a **** million miles away shouting at the telly doesn’t do any good. We need a Hugh crowd in the Park on a bank holiday Saturday.
NO **** EXCUSES!
When is the final?
Leinster titles are not to be sniffed at particularly as this wasn't a highly rated group having lost to Laois U17 three years ago. Althougb the sending off helped, I felt Kilkenny were on top and had the help of a diagonal wind in the second half. Backs and goalkeeper did well along with Tom McPhillips in midfield. Ed Lauhoff, Rory Glynn and Aaron McEvoy were the best of the forwards weth Michael Brennan accurate from placed balls. Not Marty Murphy's day but he got 5 points the last day. Players will have to brush up on their shooting with 15 wides. Tipp have looked very good so the final will be a challenge
Why when dublin let us have the short puck out is more ball not going into murphy on the edge of the square.
