Seems like a good deal on Three for the Pixel 9a. €400 unlocked and with the free Fitbit offer. Best price around as far as I can tell....

Cex offering online 170-200 to buy a pixel 8a. What's the advantage of the Vodafone Offer?
€277 off instead of €200 cash…
The bonus only useful if your going to stay on Vodafone. If you'd save more on a different network no? I mean if you want to be on Voda then it makes sense. Just.
From T&C "The Retail Trade In offer is available to any prepay or pay monthly customer who is porting into Vodafone, first time connecting or upgrading their tariff on the Vodafone network." Just wander in with the old phone & a burner SIM
Thats the plan, I'm not Vodafone just using them to go up a gen for €123
Wait, I thought the €200 bonus you get back was spread out over the course of the contract. Can you really trade in and get an extra €200 off the price of a RTG handset?
Yeah could someone clarify that...
I'd have thought it was pretty clear from the messages above but I can add to the conversation by saying I rang a Vodafone store today and they confirmed that when opting for pay as you go, the 200 trade in bonus can be used instantly against the purchase of a new handset.
I went in today and picked up a prepay phone traded in pixel 6 and paid 150 for the 9a.
I am on Vodafone sim online contract and no mention of moving to prepay or anything
I posted the relevant part of the terms on the previous page. The offer is suppose to be used towards the handset.
If you buy the Pixel 9a and trade in an eligible phone you can use the 200 boost towards the cost of the handset. If the phone is worth 50 on the trade in checker that is added to the boost.
You end up paying 150 for the Pixel 9a (Phone Price (400) - Boost (200) - Trade in value(50) )
A few people have confirmed they have done this in store.
How does it work after they confirm the phone is legit. Can you take it away to back up and wipe stuff and come back later or do they expect you to wipe it instore and switch with them on the spot?
I'd mine backed up as normal but they asked if I wanted to transfer which I did so I gave them mine and wandered around dundrum for 40 min or so.
Came back they gave me both phones so I could check I had all I needed then asked me to factory reset my original phone.
I tried that in Blackrock with my Pixel 8A. I was looking to go on a pay as you go sim. They did some checks and said my phone wasn't eligible, no reason given
That phone is literally a year old. How is that not eligible. Assuming it isn't broken or damaged of course. I would be asking for an official complaints reference number and say you need it because you are going to Comreg. That might make them reconsider. If not raise the complaint with Comreg. It is the only way these companies will learn.
"no reason given"
Did you ask for a reason?
I was in the Blackrock store yesterday but they'd no 9a in stock
They did the check on my crappy old Huawei when I was there and they'll give me €1 for it :-)
Guys if I wanted to avail of this offer, What's the recommended method for SIMs
Eg, I have a 9.99 GoMo plan, and have no notion of coming off it, can I just sign up to vf PAYG in the store, or if is it recommend I get a Tesco burner SIM for the phone in trading in?
Thanks
I tried today in shop with 2 phones I have had purchased a few years ago. Both on list and got tadge in value online but wouldn't accept in shop. When they put IME number just say can't accept.
What phones were they?
Both Xiaomi Redmi 9T. Note 10 Pro.
How fussy are they on condition? Will you get any trade in value if there is a crack in the screen? Also, from reading the above, it sounds random enough that some phones are acceptable online but not in store…
In store they have an app that does some tests I know cracks was asked, I think they acceptable online means you only get value after phone is recieved and tests are completed
I can answer this l as I just was in yesterday, not very fussy at all as far as I'm concerned.
I had an old Xiaomi, that had a crack up in the top left, didn't affect the use of the phone whatsoever but the beginning of shards of glass falling out was well under way.
Not entirely sure how they work it all out, but I left the store with a brand new pixel 9a and a new SIM card with a new Vodafone number for 213€
Considering the phone was for scrapping, and they're on Amazon for £499stg I was happy enough with the outcome.
sorry what did you do? given your old Xiami and get the pixel 9a for 213€?
So if you're not with VF and don't want to be, you do the deal for the phone but just have to get a new number/sim from them, once off top up by €20 in store, (never top up again) swap your sim and off you go?
Yes, but this included a SIM card and a new number, I think there is 20€ credit on it, but I'm not using it to be honest
Pretty much
do you mind i ask how did you work out 213? so 400 -200 +20 - 7 ( your old phone cost 7e?)
Are these phones on pay as you go plans not locked to VF network? I read it like this in contract..
Contract Renewal and Termination Conditions for renewal and termination: You may terminate this Agreement by giving at least 30 days notice or by completing the Porting process. Unlocking Device: You must have topped up your account by at least € 120 credit to request your unlock code.
I tested mine with a chap in work and he was able to make calls using his eir sim card.
Have receipt here, not entirely sure how it all works out to be honest. All I cared about was walking out of there with a new phone for herself at that price lol
