Buttons on cars need reinstatements instead of those distracting touchscreens
Wired printers too. How many peoples eyeballs have i wanted to gouge out with these wifi/bluetooth ones. Just let me plug it in, hit send and print!
Tesco ClubCard Prices/App.
Before you got your club card points and special offers in store.
Now you've got be signed up to there club card and you've got to remember your phone. I don't know if they issue cards anymore.
To make matters worse if the Internet goes down. None of the special offers work in store.
Stop calling this so-called 'AI' nonsense AI.
The Research function in Microsoft Excel.
The local AI Man has been asked a lot of difficult questions, and he does not like chat.
The club card thing is a scam now. Forcing customers to use it is simply so they have data to sell on you.
Car manufacturers thought that the introduction of infotainment touchscreen functionality in cars might encourage drivers to put away their phones.
And thankfully the NCAP ratings are going to fall for cars if they don't have physical buttons for everyday tasks.
I miss just turning a know to make it warmer/colder, or turning the volume up.
Or pushing a button for the handbrake after parking at the top of a hill for a visit and wondering if the car will still be at the top of it when you come back out.
Camera's in fridges are the worst waste of tech
At least can you be sure the light goes out after the door shuts.
yeah you say that but you won’t be laughing when I catch the guy stealing my lunch…
We would be better off just eating ourselves ...
What’s wrong with them? If you’re prone to losing them (like some people do with glasses for example) I see no issue.
Lanyards are very handy, not new technology and I certainly don’t think they need doing away with!
I assume the point is the irony of having to retrofit 'wires' to wireless headphones.
I’ve gone through about 5 or 6 of the Apple ones since I got my iPhone 8. They all failed the same way, the play/pause button getting randomly triggered while walking, resulting in either playback stopping or even skipping songs as if the button was fast tapped. I ended up getting a UGREEN one with a thick cable, it has stood up so far.
I was thinking it's mad too ... but really it's the drag of the cable when it's tethered to your phone that's annoying.
I just use cheap ~ 15 quid wireless headphones. Would not dream of spending 100s on something that can be so easily lost, and I wonder if they even sound that much better.
Yeah I guess, I get the loss prevention aspect but I’ve used AirPods since they first came out and have never lost one yet.
I sleep with them and everything 😂
They definitely sound better than €15 earbuds yes. Besides Spatial Audio and noise isolation they are higher quality drivers.
It’s like saying is a Vtech laptop as good as a MacBook! Of course not. There’s an argument to be made they’re “ovepriced” or subject to “apple tax” but I personally find they’re just very good earbuds. Comfortable, good sound and fantastic battery life. Can easily get over an hour of use from 5 mins in the case.
Yes they are too flimsy , but that's what heatshrink is for
I'm a big fan of wired ear buds. Never need charging, the pair always stay as a pair. And the cord has broken the fall numerous times if your phone falls out of your pocket or hand. The drag can be a bit annoying if you're active. But I've found putting the cord through a button hole or belt loop before you plug it into the phone can ease that. Or have the wires behind you instead of in front.
Just thought it was funny that you can get a wire for your wireless earphones 😁
I ended up moving back to over ear headphones, I find earbuds tend to increase my earwax production or something. If I'm running or cycling, I use shokz which IMHO are somewhat of a technological marvel that increases general safety when exercising.
I know they'll sound better, but on public transport or out in traffic there is a lot of degradation in sound. Anyway. That's me. I'm Android (Google Pixel) and cheap headphones 😁. Can't bear to spend a load of money on something that can be easily lost, stolen or broken.
I'm not anti wire for big 'Leia' earphones. I've a lovely pair of JVCs that I've had for 10-12 years now. But they have buttons rather than a sensor pad for the controls. My hair comes down over my ears so any tucking behind the ears can trigger the sensors and you end up skipping your fave track or pausing. Buttons just have that satisfying feedback and defined area of use that sensors lack IMO.
completely understand to be fair if I didn’t live with my headphones in I wouldn’t either 😂
I am almost constantly listening to something. I don’t like listening through loud speakers whether it be music, tv, video games etc. not sure why.
Why would anyone buy something 5 or 6 times - is that not a hint , it isn't right , or isn't for you.
I don't think car apps are useless at all. One plus side to having an app for the car is in winter you can set it to defrost before you leave the office, or when I get out of the shower in the morning, so that you arrive to a warm car with ice free windows. It also means that if someone is waiting for me I can unlock the car and let them jump in to wait for me inside the car, which happens to me regularly. Occasionally if a courier calls when I'm not home I'll open the boot and ask them to throw my package in and then close it remotely. Those are just benefits that I can think that I regularly use offhand.
ah would you stop 6 pairs since the iPhone 8 and if they got it when it launched in 2017 it’s 6 in 8 years for wired headphones that cost €25 or so. What do you expect them to last?
No, it's cheaper for them to have it all behind a programmable screen that can then be paywalled to drive subscriptions for optional extras.
It also saves money on testing and making parts that have to last for years.
That's what drove the touchscreen migration but as others have said, regulation changes are forcing a rollback thankfully.
Touchscreens on vending machines - who asked for slower more complex selection and ads with our crisps?
I don't think its the wired or wireless thats the problem. Wireless is surely better. The problem is the software side - the printer companies force you to sign up to them and it takes about 15 minutes minimum to click through all their rubbish.
