As the title says is it too early to spread fertiliser on grazing land. Land is in great condition but just worried it might be to early
You can recirculate it back into the same tank but it soon loses efficiency. But it would help an awful lot to get even half the solids out.
We get a track machine and duel spreader in to take the crust off an outdoor tank and it makes it so much nicer to agitate and spread.
Is it still possible to purchase fert without the register?

Gone with 18-4-12s on grazing ground. Spread half bag of urea on same ground two weeks ago. Silage ground got slurry, urea and 3 bags per acre of cut sward first week of April will be ready in a month. Happy with spreading tactics grass flying.

Is there anyone familiar here with spreading grass seed with a Rauch fertilizer spreader?
Got a small Rauch many years ago from a merchant to spread grass seed. I think the only modification was to the agitator in the Hopper. It looked more like a cross and I supposed it was to keep the seed flowing. I remember at the time it covered a width of around 10 foot or so. Did a great job.
Yes, I am after getting an agitator specially for grass seed.
Anyone putting out fert on meadows these days or is it too dry especially with damn all rain forecast for next 2 weeks ?

I spread compounds yesterday, I just wouldn’t panic if it’s urea you’re going out with. There’s still a bit of dew to help break it down.
I put out half a bag of PU on some grazing ground the other evening. Am tight enough for grass as had cattle out early. There is a heavy due here every night and there is no sign of the fertiliser now. Weather it’ll grow or not now without any rain I don’t know.
Does granlime need rain?
granlime needs a good bit of rain to break down. However after it's spread its going nowhere but into the ground.
Spread some on Saturday in North Meath, there was a very light mist Saturday evening and a heavy dew yesterday morning, no sign of any of the fert on the grass yesterday morning... there was a nice grass frost this morning...
Most chemical applications need rain to react with them, herbicides included.

Will the dew be enough for protected urea
I don't use protected urea but the experts say it should be fine.
Soil moisture deficits are going to start restricting re growth in a week or less if we Don't get rain. Fertilizer is a waste of time if Soil is too dry
There is a good dew, I would keep spreading. They don't be long coming back around.
How are the boys spraying the foliar getting on, have they started yet
I'm not trying to throw shade on anyone's concerns etc & I know there is a cost involved but are we over thinking if we should spread or not. I'm in North Tipp and you'd need the wellies every morning walking across any field. There's plenty of dew to wash in fert.
In 2018 it was the ones that spread away that had some growth. We had rain the week before and lads put in cattle. A bag of something to the acre is worth the gamble in my eyes, even CAN or something similar would do. May aswell take advantage of the growth that's there at the moment.

It won't grow in the bag but it won't get wasted in the bag either.
I’d get it out too and have been following cattle with fertilizer as tight enough on grass here. Serious dew these days so whatever was spread melts in. I remember hearing about New Zealand farmers laughing at Irish farmers concerns that it’s too hot and dry to spread fertilizer. What I’m not sure of is will it grow or if the fertilizer will make much difference now without rain.

Even Sunday evening on in some forecasts. The thoughts of three weeks of fine weather went to all our heads.
That should give meadows a nice boost
Often saw before when the weather is settled like it is now, by the time the forecasted rain does come it barely wets the ground.
