Red One has popped up, reviews middling but it's a Christmas Movie and expectations should be low anyway.

Wow that was quick it’s still showing in my local cinema. Box office returns were shite.
Just watched here. An ok movie to watch with kids. Bit random in places stretching Christmas themes to the limits.
Its no Santa Claus: The Movie 1985 which is on Prime Video also. Still the best in my book.
Not sure when I seen the trailer what age demographic they were pitching this movie at. Not surprised it didn't do well at the box office.
Would you say it's suitable for a 9 year old?
No problems for a 9 year old. Cartoon violence at worst and no-one dies. They either come back to life after a few slaps or get imprisoned.
Thank you so much, appreciate that.
My daughter watched the trailer and I saw her excitement but was worried when I saw the PG-13 rating. Also don't want her to lose that belief in Santa so soon.
Ok you got me thinking. There is a scene at the very start where a kid shows some other kids a cupboard full of presents. An adult comes and explains these are presents but not Santa presents. The kid questions how Santa gets to every house in the same night and what fuels flying reindeer. Adult tells him no-ones sure exactly how it works but Santa is coming and there'll be Santa presents in the house by morning.
I never considered the scene as my son is 14. I think a 9 year old will be fine with the explanation from the adult but then again it could plant a small seed of doubt. Just to make you aware. Maybe watch the first 3 minutes of the movie yourself first and see what you think…
After that Im 99.9% sure its all good. Its just a setup scene for 1 of the characters who appears as an adult in the very next scene.
I watched this after, it's an odd one. Hard to see who its aimed towards, not really a young young kids movie and not really an adults movie. It's kinda stuck somewhere in the middle yet not too.
It's not a bad film I didn't think but had more of a Marvel/DC superhero vibe than a Christmas type movie.
The Rock is no Dudley Moore that's for sure .
says 16+ on the Amazon home screen. might be a bit much if she still believes at 9
Not sure what's going on there. Its 12A in cinemas here and in the UK. Id say 12A is spot on.
that show in yours too? who knows where they're getting it from. cinema one would be the one to go by yeah
Yeah showing 16+ for me on Prime Video. Had a look on IMDB. France and South Africa have it rated 16+. Everywhere else much lower. Ireland 12A. Italy has it at age 6+. Bizarre.
There is a lot swearing in Red One that really didn't need to be there. Everything else was fine imo so they could have left it out and it would've appealed to a wider audience. Watched it with a 11 year old over the weekend but I wouldn't let my 6 year old watch it
Yeah it was in the background in our house yesterday and I stopped a few times to say to myself "I thought this was a kids movie".
Anyone else so pissed off with the “rent or buy” crap that they are going to cancel?
If they had an option to hide all the stuff that costs extra it wouldn’t be so bad.
Just gonna cancel. Win win that I might stop buying crap on Amazon also.
Yep the rent or buy stuff advertising is annoying but you know if you see a good film on the list it isn't going to be free.
I wouldn't pay for Prime for the videos because the are mostly rubbish, in fact I didn't know there were that many really crap films until I got Prime. Its the free delivery that pays for it.
After watching some of the Amazon films I've concluded that the people who provide the subtitles are deaf and blind and have serious addiction problems.
The worst offering that I came across was when i decided to watch Flight 1942. I knew it was supposed to be crap because it's one of the Asylum studio offerings, but didn't expect the subtitles to be even more laughable than the film itself. There are some real howlers in that one. 😜
Amazon prime goes for quantity, not quality. And one of the streaming services that offer old titles. But their interface is so user unfriendly, it is nigh impossible to find anything by chance. I rely solely on justwatch.com to keep up on what they add.
But the problem with justwatch is that they keep adding the same titles as being new on Amazon Prime again and again. I regularly click a link to find I've already watched the film.
Yes, very true. It happens with other streaming services when things expire and later added again (i.e Netflix), but with prime it happens a lot more.
I'd expect rent or buy for new films, but not for ones that are ten years old. I'd never seen Fury, a war film that was made in 2014, and I saw that Amazon had it on rent or buy. I'm not giving Amazon any more money. 😛
The new Batman was available to watch as part of prime……after watching that…..I said sher I will watch the Nolan trilogy…….but no…all needed to be paid for.
They can go and rot.
As soon as we watch the final series of Clarkson's Farm I'll be cancelling. This rent or buy is a joke.
Seems to be the way forward now for streaming services.
What was seen as the savior and replacement of cable, is now turning into cable. Silicon valley and blitz scaling strikes again.

I hope you caught her performance of The Cherry Tree Carol on the RTE Christmas music special. There is a clip here:

The James Bond themed "007: Road to a Million" returns Friday 22nd on Prime. Brian Cox appears as "The Controller" setting tasks and questions loosely related to Bond movies.
A mad version of the Krypton Factor with better locations and narration :)
Fans of Borgen and A Hijacking will recognise Pilou Asbæk. He'll be on Prime next year with a 4-part series, Snake Killer. Inspired by real events.
