Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Different strokes for different folks lad.. Barry is headlining a 50K strong festival in London this Summer.
They've picked some pretty diverse acts.
Personally, I'd rather see him than what was announced so far.
Barry can’t swim far more popular around the world than cmat in fairness
aye, alongside Chase & Status and Raye and the Maccabees.
true. I was expecting a third Irish act tbh, but I see they had Barry cant swim last year too
I agree with your comment about standing gigs of course but this was a seated gig.
We weren't rushing to get our spot. Or to or from the bar At all . ..😵💫
Think you must be replying to someone else because the above does not relate to anything I said in my post ?
Just a heads-up there's a separate thread created for the discussion of closing of bars.
i just mean in general if closing the bar during performances becomes standard, there will be punters rushing out to the bar at the last minute then they will come back expecting to get “their spot” back. When I said “you” I didn’t actually mean you were doing that, sorry!
This " lad" was not rushing , just an ignorant axxholx looking at his phone and barrelling through !
Thanks for clarifying .
Likely Barry Can't Swim to play own gig this year? New album on the way too. If I wasn't on family holiday 1st thing next morning I'd try for tickets for Guiness Storehouse.
If it works like the other ones, all you have to do is theow your name in as it is a ballot. The tickets will automatically be charged to your listed card if successful and you just have to make sure the money is in the account
Barry Cant Swim is brilliant, really enjoyed his set at ATN last year.
Yep. His Lovely Days set in 2023 was excellent too.. was fairly wet but was just before the "biblical Friday night".
If only Ireland could do a festival like that
lot of Irish interest there: the Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers, Inhaler, Cabra Starship
So any rumours on the last 2 Marlay slots that they have potential planning permission for...? Getting late for announcements
Food and drink is overpriced as all hell, but the two main stages being side by side is fantastic, and lagunitas have a brewery by the site, it's well worth travelling over for.
Went in 2023 and in the queue for the toilets at a punk festival in Chicago what did I see?
A fcking gaa jersey
^ Pretty standard every time I leave the country..
Didn't see a GAA jersey at Mania but saw a retro Ireland football jersey which is in the same family

Not a gig per day but Brendan Gleeson is performing the weir from August to September 6th in the Olympia Theatre, just picked up a nice centre ticket in the stalls,
Add ?did=prompre to get presales to all the dates, great seats available
Thanks. I saw it in Wyndham's in London in 2014 with a fantastic cast: Dervla Kirwan, Brian Cox, Peter McDonald, Ardal O'Hanlon and Risteárd Cooper. Superb.
I've started getting into the west-end plays, went to see the Tempest with Sigourney Weaver back in December, seeing master builder with Ewan McGregor in June, got tickets to see Jodie Comer's play as well and now this to the list, I'm a sucker for an A-lister though 😅
I'm seeing Radiohead hamlet hail to the thief in June for the birthday I've high expectations for that
Bear in mind that greater Chicago has a population of 9.5m. We do pretty well here given there are only 7.1m on our entire island. Not many acts we don't get visiting including a big proportion of those bands above in the past year.
Paul Mescal doing Tom Murphy's A Whistle in the Dark in the Abbey in 2027. I'd mention it elsewhere but is there even thoughts of a 2027 thread yet? Enormous demand for that, and I'd also expect some yapping and a few attempts at covert-photography mid-performance. I try not to label people or be judgemental but I'd fear for the respectfulness on this run……….
Nice
Tempted as it might be my only chance to see such an acting legend in person
big name actors do theatre all the time. It’s not like going to a gig
Stunt casting always attracts a few people who want to say they were there rather than have any interest in the show.
Saw Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway yesterday, ushers were on point but there were definitely a few cameras when Kieran Culkin had his main dialogue.
Utterly riveting show.
Not Holywood but saw Don Wycherley do a one man show a few years back and it was amazing
Good actors and actresses are different gravy no matter what art form
Probably depends a lot on the practice in a given theatre. The Gaiety is the only one in Dublin I have found where the audience behaviour is not great, and it’s also the one that is more relaxed about letting people in late
Vapors of Morphine, Grand Social, Wednesday 19th November: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/vapors-of-morphine-tickets-1343663095489?aff=oddtdtcreator&_gl=1%2Aeq55ck%2A_up%2AMQ..%2A_ga%2AMTY1MzA1NzU1Ny4xNzQ1OTE4NDE5%2A_ga_TQVES5V6SH%2AMTc0NTkxODQxOS4xLjAuMTc0NTkxODQxOS4wLjAuMA..
Fans of 90s band Morphine will want to go this.
How many Oscar-nominated & BAFTA/Olivier/IFTA/BIFA-winning actors have been in the Abbey recently?
