Jap import. Them twin charged engines are piles of sh*te
And state state of the thing as well.
That'll be the "Additional Performance & Style Upgrades" 🤣
If it was left completely original it would be a nice enough "sleeper" type car with 150bhp and a nice upgraded interior....and I would hazard he could get somewhere around €5k for it.
But as it stands now, its a clown car 🤡
If it was completely standard and the mileage checked out, it would be a nice car and worth at least €4k maybe a tad more.
Definitely worth more than €4k. He was spot on at €5k. Petrol automatics demand quite a premium.
What an absolute disgusting car!!!!!
Seems to have fallen in price somewhat.
Still says €16,950 in the description
Honestly look at the state of the thing? If he got offered anywhere near 4k he should take the hand off them.
An auto 15 yr old Jetta with a high strung 1.4 twin charge engine …. christ looking at some of the online content on that specific engine they can suffer from all sorts of bother. Brother owned a golf with the standarrd 1.4 tsi and that guzzled oil like a camel and the timing chain starting giving trouble so he eventually sold it on to a mechanic buddy.
If the seller stripped off all that extra plastic add-on crap he'd have a much better chance of selling it.
Also how would that specific year of car and engine combo be worth more than a manual version? As opposed to automatic. Unless that twin charge only comes in auto. Wouldn't an auto mean its harder on petrol and more vulnerable to complex issues with gearbox?
Did you not read the post I replied to? We are discussing the value of the car IF it was standard. Not what it’s currently worth. And its nothing specific to that year of car & engine combo. 15 year old petrol automatic Polos, Golfs, and Passats are still selling for upwards of €5k so theres no reason this car wouldn’t be worth the same. I have been selling these cars for the past 5 years and they are always worth €1k to €2k more than a diesel manual.
And yes you are correct the engine is a pile of sh*te, I already pointed that out a few posts back. But the general population don’t really know this or understand the difference between this engine and a standard 1.4 so that doesn’t really effect the market value.
You mentioned a comparison with a diesel. I didn't mention anything to do with diesel. I'm just surprised that for example an older 1.4 petrol auto would fetch such a premium over a manual equivalent.
I'm not arguing with you i'm just surprised at the market value difference you're referring to.
If I was in the market for something like that I'd steer clear of the auto every time for the reasons I previously mentioned. But thats just me.
Yeah I just mentioned diesel because there are very few petrol versions of that era. Most of them have been imported from Japan hence being petrol auto.
For those who haven't seen this
We have a new contender for the title 🥇
€1500 for an 03 chicken shed.
"would need trailer to collect" no shít Sherlock.
"Had NCT before taken off the road."
If that doesn't sell it I don't know what will 😂
Take about €1,400 off the price and you've got a deal my friend
I offered €300😂
Definitely worth a punt at €300. Amazing what a good wash would do to it.
They weren't a bad era of Megane Scenic.
Look the state of the back wheels on this thing.
Only €44k…

But they're worth €12,000🤣
That's a very niche buyers market for asking €44k
that is bizzare. But I must admit it looks very convincing and to the untrained eye you’d glance and think it’s a real Lamborghini! Not sure how they get away with this stuff though
You can tell it's had tons of work and money put into it alright.
I just don't get it myself though, a turbo MR2 is a fast, good looking car is as.
Spend half of what he says he has and you could turn one into an absolute rocket ship.
It would suit as a wedding car or something along those lines. Theres definitely scope for some return on your investment but probably not worth the money he is asking
I saw this in another thread and thought it deserves to be here:
2004 12 Nissan Almera For Sale in Garnavilla, Tipperary from Sean O Longargain
ALL NUMBERS MATCHING 🤣
Numbers in the price definitely don't match what it's worth.
And half a Nissan Almera…
