I thought she was just joking first, but then she did it again! He's known as Patrick
Thanks for sharing Tommy 😊
Ok Tommy. It was a good show. Paddy is a decent host.
I've heard other guests calling him Paddy. So I assume he's Paddy amongst friends.
Discussing having a referendum on the north is no different from discussing tangerine man taking over Greenland! Both will never happen.
...
Never mind the Pope this is the real big news of the week.
Professionally he may be Patrick but I’ve heard him being called Paddy before
Must be about two years ago when she announced that there would be a "United" Ireland within five years, only three to go now . . .
Gotcha, Sandy.
Who are these people?
Calm down calm down, he is called 'Paddy' by employers and friends

What's the show like? More misery?
Good lord.
I don't know, one seems a lot closer than the other

There's no guarantee that stormont will still be sitting in 5 years time, so I wouldn't be holding my breath on a referendum.
On paper most people would say they are for a United Ireland, but when you ask them would they be happy to replace the healthcare currently provided by the NHS(which is free to all), with the HSE(which is not), they quickly change their tune.
And would you be happy with the price of almost everything going up? Hmm, hadn't thought of that…
Paddy is a common nickname for someone called Patrick.
Hope that clears it up for you! 👍
Well holy god.
Lots of support for a united Ireland until the gory details are examined.
Pointless having a referendum without going into the pros and cons.
It'll cost us an absolute fortune in taxes too, billions per year to keep NI's excess public servants and huge number of dubious 'disability' claimaints in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed to on the king's shilling. Even NI's private sector has poor productivity. Educational achievement is low.
🎵 Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye Jobs 🎵
And Lou is a common nickname for Louise.
I always thought he was known as Paddy Kielty.
And what would it actually achieve?
Had a quick look at Tesco. Picked a random product. Twirl 9 pack. On tesco.co.uk, its £3, £2.50 with the clubcard. £3 is €3.50 On tesco.ie the same 9 pack is €5.10.
It would be very easy for a No campaign in the North to point out these facts to the average voter.
Correct, he is known professionally as Patrick Kielty and this is how he is practically always addressed. However he has had many many northern nationalists, and other Irish nationalists, on his show, and no surprise he had Mary Lou McD on the show and gave her a very easy interview which was so smooth and slick and un-interupted it could have been scripted and rehearsed. Did not take her calling him Paddy to know the mask had slipped. Switched channels after 5 minutes as it was obvious he was agreeing 100% with everything she said and was egging her on. I only ever seem to tune in for a few miutes per week of the Late Late …a week ago she had Francis Black on. I was at a Francis Black concert some decades ago and she praised and glorified pIRA prisoners between a few songs, so we know where her loyalties laid too.
She is Mary Louise, he is Patrick. They were both being informal. Even in the times of Gabriel Mary Byrne, the Late Late could be informal.
Never realised that about Francis. Never rated her singing and won't be voting for her now
I don't know why that lot keep banging on about a referendum for a UI when they've no control over it. It's the secretary for Northern in Westminster decides that and the British government like the rest of the world have a lot on their plate right now so I doubt it's high on the list of priorities.
She called him "paddy" to create a false intimacy and bonhomie with him as if she was one of his mates and so he wouldn't ask her any awkward questions or pressure her too much. Like I'm Mary Lou so treat me nice not like Michael Martin or Simon Harris who are only mere politicians
So he didn't ask her any questions about the Disappeared, or why her party regularly commemorates cold blooded murderers? Well colour me shocked 🙄
Frances Black's strong pro Sinn Fein leaning goes back a long time.
If she is nominated her links to the party will likely come under more scrutiny.
