Finally
You have to pay for it if you want Cloud Saves. And Virtual Console retro console games.
Mario Kart World looks amazing. I've been playing Mario Kart 8 for over 10 years, and can see Mario Kart World lasting just as long. Can't wait to play it next weekend at a hands-on event.
I think (maybe hope) needing to be physically together is a one-time thing for all game sharing, not per game. I think you only need to do it once, and can share any game in the future without needing to be physically together.
Yes, that is correct. You get a lot of content for a little under €9 a year
I'm paying €11 a year with the expansion.
€70 with 8 on the family plan is €8.75/person
€11 a year is, I presume, the result of only 6 people being on your family plan?
Looks good alright. Just watched the direct. They've definitely managed to wring enough new stuff out of the franchise to make it worth while.
I wish they offered local mode that would support a number of local Switches on one game license/cart. Mario Kart LAN party with a monitor for everyone. Split screen is too squashed, especially with 4 players, and also lower frame rate. But I'm not buying multiple copies of Mario Kart for the family.
Anyway, not getting a new Nintendo console until the next Mario or Zelda appears and assuming they are top quality.
Yeah only 6 of us on the plan right now. Once a year we all pay into a Revolut. Simple and cheap.
As far as I know Mario kart will support game share
Cool throwback to the SNES days.
Now You're Playing Together ft. Paul Rudd – Nintendo Switch 2
And Nintendo re-uploaded the original SNES ad featuring Paul Rudd.
Super Nintendo Entertainment System – 1991 Commercial
Can we/will we be able to play the GameCube games in handheld mode on Switch 2 or are they only optimised for TV mode with a GameCube controller.
with Smyths pre orders do you get asked prior to shipping if you want to go ahead with delivery or is it just automatically delivered and money taken after a certain date. I have a pre order with them but I did it as a guest without setting up an account. I’m in two minds about whether to go ahead with it but can’t see how I can cancel now. I’ve since set up an account but no sign of it showing up there. I’ll probably have to call them I suppose.
Just to update I believe I am incorrect in this comment. Mariokart World is not on the list of games that support gameshare/download-play
I think cancelled my pre-order with Smyths via the link in the email they sent (subject line "Pre Order Confirmation PRIEXXXXX) but that does not seem to do anything now you can try going via the guest link https://www.smythstoys.com/ie/en-ie/guest-lookup
Smyths Pre-order FAQ: https://www.smythstoys.com/ie/en-ie/pre-order
You can amend payment details on your pre-order in your Smyths Toys Account. If you do not have an account, you can do so via the manage pre-order page.
With regards to payment
-No payment upfront or deposit online-Chosen payment method will be pre-authorised 2 - 7 days before item becomes available.-No payment will be taken from you for your order until it is dispatched (home delivery orders) or collected (click & collect orders).

Basically you would want to cancel before the pre-authorisation is placed on your card. Even if you did get charged, you can return unwanted, unopened items for a full refund.
Not enough stock to satisfy launch demand in Japan, apparently.
Glad I got my preorder in early.
Thats mental. They even have a second round lottery that wont fulfill demand.
Locally it seems Currys are the only claiming to have pre-order available - but you need to go in store. I'd be surprised if they havent already had their quota filled and but it gets the punters in.
Smyths flogging preorders for 512GB Sandisk EX cards for 110euro come June
Decent price compared to the Lexars 512/1TB from the US or resellers etc, but obviously not an immediate concern and supply/pricing will improve over time post summer

Saw that one this morning and thought it wasn't too bad of a price at all. Again though, no real rush to get one immediately and prices will come down further. I have a 256gb SD in my current Switch and that still has a bit of space to go so even if I download everything onto the S2's internal drive, I'll be OK until I start buying more games.
Aye, unless you've major digital luggage to haul, there's no rush.
Smart move would be to wait for the usual Amazon Sandisk sales later on.
Some file sizes are huge. Depends on what you like to play. Here is a good video breakdown on games file sizes. Just don't buy Split Fiction that file size is massive unless you get SD card.
They're having a nightmare in the US with Switch 2 preorders. Sites crashing, orders being accepted then cancelled, Gamestop getting a very limited quantity of units for in-person preorders…
Oh dear, how sad, nevermind
I really hope the Smyth's preorders are guaranteed.
Anyone have any luck pre ordering currys?
Kirby and Mario Party upgrades confirmed to be €19.99
Ok, I reordered in currys (in person). Costs €505 with Mario Kart World. Paid in full straight away. Last time I pre ordered a console it was €20 deposit. PS5 I think.
Does anyone know if Smyth's ever done a midnight launch of a console.
Back in 2017 they did a midnight launch of the SNES Classic, that's the only one I did with them
I've never had an issue historically with Smyths preorders, in fact, for games they usually arrive the day before they are meant to.
