^ Ooft.. Woodsies is solid!
Seems a crazy place to put Weezer..
Yeah, would have thought mid afternoon/early evening on the pyramid or other stage. They're guaranteed to pull a crowd
My personal take, very tactical placement for Weezer. They know it'll be mobbed so a good excuse to showcase that revamped side of the site now. Including Silver Hayes, Lonely Hearts, BBC Intro area etc and try spread the crowd around and away from the SE Corner.
Are Weezer massively popular again all of a sudden? I must be missing something here.
Several well-known tracks, Glastonbury skews older than most similar festivals so Weezer would have been popular during the time when many attendees would have been more into music, the type of act that many would go see at a festival but probably not pay to see at their own gig, on at a time when there usually isn't too much competition.
If they were on a smaller stage during headliner time it wouldn't make a difference, but at 7pm when there won't be as much competition will definitely mean the tent will be jammed.
Not too dissimilar to Avril Lavigne last year.
I was bemused by the popularity of Avril Lavigne last year and always thought Weezer were a bit cringe tbh. I'm excited for Four Tet though.
15.2m monthly listeners on Spotify. I might check out their set but no, I don't get it either.
I thought maybe they had a released a new album but nope, nothing since 2021 and that album didn’t seem to do particularly well critically or commercially.
Jesus. The stages are filling up REAL nicely now. This really will be a mooch around and grab your chair Glasto as opposed to being at Pyramid for 3 acts to be in position for what you want to see. I'm liking this more and more.
It's the best lineup in years I think.
Got all the way to payment in the resale on behalf of a few who missed out in November. Was in the last few minutes as it kept giving me sold out messages but refreshing got me the option to get the details in.. the site offered a "use saved details" option for the main booker's credit card.. did that.. sent the payment request too. It was his Revolut and he didn't have the funds there. Tickets gone by the time we got it sorted. Raging! Thought there was talk about getting payment out of the booking flow to stop this.. but probably the only reason we got there was due to others stumbling at the same place.
Honestly, I wasn't too stoked initially. The last few skewed heavily towards Pyramid, Other and maybe Park and I'm not enthused about any of the Pyramid or Other Headliners (despite the constant pimping of The 1975 on any music thread on this site by you know who). I was a bit let down by acoustic (usually one of my favorites).
But, honest to God, it's filling up nicely now. More back to the roots of moving around. (LOTS of walking between stages this year, I think). Less camping at a spot for 3 acts to see what you want. I'm really looking forward to having a.... I don't know... Let's call it "A Wandering Glastonbury" again
"Glastonbury Tapas"
A decent Tapas place at Glasto would be lovely now that you mention it. I don't think I've ever seen one.
Same here, an easy moneymaker too. I guess the problem would be keeping seafood safe for a week, even if frozen. The food trucks/stalls must go in there on Sun/Mon?
I have definitely eaten Spanish food at Glastonbury.
There used to be a seafood stall in the mid 00s opposite the entrance to the Acoustic Field (where the bakery/fruit stand is now) that did fresh seafood, squid, paella etc. Amazing. Albeit risky but there were never any issues.
I heard he packed it in due to storage and the like but it was top tier.
Kneecap still in hot water despite their somewhat late efforts to diffuse the situation. I wonder is there a chance they could be dropped from the lineup.
Their edgelord antics caught up with them- out of their depth
Theyll be binned assuming the "Kill your MP" thing actually happened. I havent seen a clip.
Glasto (rightly) made a big thing of Jo Cox. Tribute etc.
Glade with a very strong lineup
Amazing lineup, easily the best I've ever seen from there. Had given up hope on ever seeing Third World.
Yeah that Glade lineup is crazy. I’m delighted Marshall Jefferson is back.
Bananas good line up from the Glade yet again.
I'd say they are out alright. Conversation for the other thread but I think it would be proper order. Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from outcome.
Depends what was actually stated and in what context. I've seen no footage showing the alleged support for Hamas or Hezbollah, though bad as they are neither have been responsible for the genocidal killing of 32,000 children (a gross underestimate given that figure came from the Lancet medical journal and is up to June 2024).
I've also seen nothing on the 'Kill your MP' claim though them apologising ensures that, or something similar, was said and. They'll have no luck with that in the UK and Glasto will be unable to resist the pressure to drop them. They're annually under intense pressure from the Daily Fail who hate both them and the BBC and seek stories every June to discredit both. I agree entirely with their stance on Gaza but they've got to be more savvy by now. I hope they appear but am pretty sure they're out.
Thick and fast now:
Only found Antony Szmierek recently and his Grand Social gig was sold out. Might appeal to fans of The Streets and Real Lies:
^ Really like Grandson.. saw him at 2000 Trees last year.
Well worth dipping into.
Not a huge amount a decent electronic acts this year.
