New Thread to continue discussion for General Premier League. Old thread closed.
Dead rubber game between two weakened teams on a wet Tuesday night.im assuming.
Why bother going in the first place so?
Lots didn't. The ticket exchange has lots of seats available only a few hours before kick off.
Yet again, Arsenal don't get over the line. They have been screaming for a striker to turn some of those 13 draws into wins.
If they don't get someone in the summer, they won't win it again next year.
Liverpool should wrap it up on Sunday.
You're assuming it's Tuesday today?
79pts the maximum Arsenal can get
Liverpool currently on 79pts
Goal difference +10
ONE point needed now from 5 games
Goes to show how strong a league it is this season when the 12th place team can go away to the team in second and champions league semi finalists and get a deserved result.
Arsenal played in second gear with the semi-final in 6 days. The league is long gone. Preventing injuries was the main thing tonight.
Empty seats because some, like yourself, thought the game was on Tuesday.
At least one of the teams playing at the Emirates tonight will get to see the premier league trophy on the final day of the season
The scary thing is that Paul Merson was right… He said after they lost to West Ham that Arsenal are done. That they have 12 games left and they'll do well to win half.
since then they've played 8 and only won 3.
that 1st arsenal goal….should partey have been penalised for obstructing the palace defender? for me, it should be but no idea what the rules are.
They will possibly need to win 2 of the last 4 to secure 2nd
I’d say Palace were happy to play in second gear as they’ve an FA cup semi final the weekend, again shows the quality of the league.
No, no, no. The rules clearly state that you cannot call it a strong league if a club named Liverpool are top of said league.
thats cold bro 🫡
Said it a few days ago and was met with "Havertz has 1 less than Nunez and Jota combined" he has 9 league goals, nowhere near good enough.
Wonder could Man City catch Arsenal for second place? They still have to play Liverpool and Newcastle whereas City have an easier run-in.
Mateta has 13 league goals this season, had 16 last so might equal it, not bad for a mid table team, I wonder will any "bigger" clubs take a punt on him.
Could the unthinkable happen?? Could Arsenal finish 3rd in a 2 horse race 😱😱😱...
Yet Arsenal have dropped 18 points from winning positions this season, that has nothing to do with having a striker or not. Considering how many midfielders and defenders they have signed over the last few seasons maybe their problems lie elsewhere?
Except if most certainly does - a striker may push a lead of 1 goal to a lead of 2 goals and then those 18 points dropped might have looked different.
Hoping City can still drop out of top 5.
seems unlikely given arsenal are 12s on to finish second but a lot of time is spend on this thread theorizing on stuff not at all likely to happen.
That would be very nice but I really cannot see that happening - that late winner they got was huge - and Pep knew it, hence the joyous reactions.
The people on Sky and elsewhere twisting themselves in knots trying to make out that the result of the game tonight actually mattered was quite amusing to see.
It literally could have crowned league champions last night
It's not just them. There's plenty here twisting the same knots
This 100 %.
More to do with team set up and the type of player Mikel uses than not having a striker.
Well, technically, the result did matter. I appreciate that Arsenal fans are fiercely salty about how the last couple of league seasons have panned out, but these things have to be chalked off. The league will be won and celebrated on Sunday, and plenty of people care about that even if Arsenal fans are pretending otherwise.
