So christian, muslim as long as you believe in a higher being. So atheists ruled out unless you let on into believing in a higher being.
We had the opposite experience with the department.
When my BIL passed suddenly he left a shocking mess behind, shocking. He’d gone a bit off in the head. hedges full of tags where they were being swapped, probably 50 cards for a 25 animal herd. A missing animal tested 2 months previously but with tags of one that had been slaughtered the year before. It was a mess. I rang them straight out and explained the situation and they guided us through the whole mess and all animals were sold. Herd number is reactivated now and back in use.
I couldn’t speak more highly about the help we got.

I think an older pope is like an insurance policy against him living too long or having new ideas. I don’t think they want another “year of the three popes” where they had to kill one off when he showed too much of his own mind and would be there for too long. Was that 1978 ? Id say it’s a massively political appointment rather Than much religious input.

Francis was fairly progressive thinking as popes go. Be interesting to see where the next one will go, continuing on or going back to a bit more conservative.

Apparently converting to RC is all the fashion with people from the evangelical churches in the US, going back to older churches to be nearer God. Didn't seem to work that well in this country.

In the CofI I'd say 70% of clergy are ex roman Catholic. That's from men wanting to marry while still serving and women becoming clergy.

I used to work with an older guy that was a gunner, on a chopper in Vietnam. I never asked him about it directly, but the other lads told me. He had no idea how many he had killed. They used to just fire ad hoc into the bushes, vegetation.
The way they'd be looking at it is that's a bush that's not going to kill them. In that bush being a potential sniper underneath. That'd be a taught technique from on high.
A horse won the Irish Grand National with a British horse trainer, owner, rider. The horse itself came from a local trainer in wexford that had to take out grass fields for let miles away from his base because oilseed rape was sown beside the yard. The trainer was saying the pollen from the plants absolutely ruins the wind on his horses. So took the grass fields for the spring and year and had his horses set up in temporary paddocks and the weather wasn't kind when he was doing this. People thought he was cracked. And tillage farmers on other forums were getting a bit offended by it. The race horse social media did some clips on him.
Anyway there he is now with a horse through his hands winning the Irish Grand National.
I had an unannounced inspection maybe three decades ago now . When i had just started out my own. where two nasty department lads landed querying about an animal i had sold several months before that. Put a lot of pressure on me to say I had given it to a dealer and not done a movement for it even though I had the cert in my hand to prove otherwise. An older neighbour called to ask me something and lord bless him he stayed until the two boys cleared off and then told me a story how one of the department men had been done for handling dubious cattle years before ....
Had the same two fellas for an inspection maybe 6 or 7 years after that and it gave me the greatest pleasure to pull them up and read them the riot act at every turn for the day they were there…... like some on here i despise them majority of the department officials

This sort of **** reminding farmers pisses me off no end. I spent, with 2 other lads, weeks pulling these bastards of ragwort in a couple of fields. But the railway running beside me is like a yellow paradise when the hoors are in bloom and not a jaysus thing being done about it. And now my place is starting to fill with them again. When are Irish rail or even the motorway /road operators going to hauled in?
What is the situation with the nordies local authorities and government agencies on their own land? Are they doing what they tell the farmers to do?
