Agreed. I said it the other week here... Rafter Street is a sh1t show, an "obstacle course" is exactly what it is at times.
Jackser going for the Dail.
What is a Scalder?
Probably be a Guest House I reckon.
Apparently it's going to be turned into a crèche.
Much needed I allways thought it would make a cool wedding venue with the church so close
More prime space wasted no doubt
https://www.southeastradio.ie/wexford-county-council-receives-over-2000-signatures-in-protest-to-a-proposed-ipas-centre-in-enniscorthy/Resistance building over the proposed IPAS centre in the old mercy Convent. 2000 signatures must be nearly everyone on the east side.
When you read the names some appear multiple times, there is some credibility issues with the 2000 figure… could be slightly higher or lower depending in who signed multiple times
And so it begins. A protest to happen tomorrow.
Scrolling through a post on reddit about moving to the south east, the first comment I come across is calling Enniscorthy a kip.
Got me thinking as much as it has its problems it's far from a kip, it's quite nice and on the up.
Should people of the town try to sell the town more?
You say it's far from being a kip. Can you back that up with anything tangible?
There's is a large amount of amenities in the area two huge sports ground within a stone throw of petites, rugby club, running track, allotments.
The town may be hilly but it has a good array of coffee shops, creative grounds is proving to be an all round spot to cater for everyone. Decent pubs and a nice hotel. The rebellion center, vinegar hill, borodale, ringwood and the riverside walk are all beautiful places.
oh it has a pool several good gyms the astroactive has a great astro turf not to mention the new one.
The new park in belfield is quite good and could be used to organise a parkrun event.
Thats alot of tangible things right there.
Roads out around the countryside are getting tarmacked. The kind of roads that get three cars and hour. When roads around town are in bits in parts. Can't understand why priority isn't given to where it's most needed.
Old Dublin road at the other end pass the petrol station is terrible, for a business park road it's not good.
It's a feckin embarrassment. Worst bit of road for many a mile.
They laid pipes there last summer, thought they might have resurfaced it,but no,just made it worse.
Roads are in rough shape in spots about the town, more of an inconvenience.
Roads are bordering on dangerous in spots about the countryside, especially at night. It's about time they received some prioritisation.
Looks like the Freshwater Pearl Muscle takes priority over homes and businesses.
The Slaney is over a hundred kilometres they want to dredge a kilometer or two. Must be some leeway in the regulations if the will was really there.
No leeway that's the rules it's been known for years yet you have Councillors still acting like eejits wondering why it hasn't started etc.
Same reason Greenway in Wexford to Curracloe didn't happen nature has to be protected.
Just try to find a non invasive way to protect houses and buildings rather than going on and on like a broken record.
Won't do much for the traffic flow, but badly needed.
What is the walk way like down by the Riverside Park Hotel? I believe its call Enniscorthy Slaney river walk. Or is there any nice walks in or around Oylegate?
A long linear walk beside the river. Doesn't go anywhere, just down and back. Nothing in Oylgate.
It's nice on a sunny day, great for a run... but annoying with the dead end. They could have created a link to a forest called ringwood not sure why they don't but it would enhance it so much.
Oh right so would be fine for a bit of run or that then. I was thinking there wasn't really a walk in Oylegate just the pitches.
And is ringwood close to the area?
If you drive ringwood is great for a run, it's hard to describe how to get to it though when you drive up it feels like your driving into somebody's farm access. It's down the backroad if you cross the bridge toward edermine.
The riverside is great for a light run mostly flat and you can hit 5k up and back.
The aim (and hope) is a walkway "blueway" and a cycleway "greenway." I guess you call them a Cyanway? They would run from Enniscorthy along the prom/riverside down to Ferrybarrig and eventually to New Ross. Still, despite the money being allocated for them, there doesn't seem to be much effort in getting it done.
Has there been any mention of this recently or any update when it will finished? I loved going to Waterford to go on the greenway for a cycle due to it being safer than on the roads.
Seems to be something stirring on the flood relief plan.
Unfortunately it's doubtful that Enniscorthy council will get a move on connection up with New Ross Greenway. Greenways in Wexford sadly dont have much political support.
New bridge options laid out. Mill Park Rd is going to be busy, particularly if they pedestrianise the Market Sq.
