From Trump to polyamory and cougars…Pat probing all the big issues this morning.
I've noticed Pat using clips from Seinfeld for the prize of the day. I wonder if it is a kind of penance for that disastrous interview he did with Jerry Seinfeld.
Oh? What's that about?
Jerry Sign Field as Pat called him on the Late Late Show.
Funny they played a clip from Seinfeld when Ivan was on recently - and Ivan too mis pronounced it.
I assume Pat simply had not heard of Jerry Seinfeld, and was just told "next up you will be interviewing a guy from the US called Jerry Seinfeld who is promoting his film", and the producer forgot to give the context that at the time Seinfeld was one of, if not the most popular TV Shows in the US at the time, and Jerry was the highest paid actors at the time(about $60 million a year). Jerry is as of last year, still the highest paid actor, and according to sources online is worth close to a billion dollars.
Pat got his name wrong, calling him Jerry Seinfield, interviewed him like Jerry was just starting out his career, and ended it(not in the clip) by saying something like "I can tell there are great things in store for Jerry in the future".
The giving of the superman toy as a gift to Jerry was the icing on the cake.
I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't a bit of a set up to be honest. Very enjoyable for all the wrong reasons nonetheless.
So what happened with Indiana Jones/Harrison Ford. Was he on Pat's show too?
the question today is: which italian city did two characters in a film meet?
I didn't say it was every day, but yesterday was about the third time they had used a clip from Seinfeld was my point.
Pat desperately trying to get Paschal to slag off Trump. It's never going to happen, Pat…he's the Minister for Finance trying to deal with an economic crisis ffs. I just wish Pat would get back to analysing what can be done to deal with it and stop with the polemic (it's pointless in the context of doing an interview with the minister).
Paschal Donohoe sounded like a parent trying to talk down a two year old having a tantrum in dealing with Pat. Pat sounds like he’s close to stamping his feet and spitting out his dummy.
Pascal is one of our best representatives - Pat about to end segment, Pascal says "we should end on a note of optimism" and gets a wee monologue in
"the ne'er do wells"
While we know he is still a politician, Paschal sounds incredibly reasonable when you compare him to the clips of the loons in Washington.
"killarney is the tourism capital of the western world whether you like that or not" barks MHR
Sole spokesman for rooorald Oirland protecting landlording interests... ahem... I mean standing up for ordinary folk again.
"since i was nineteen years of age, I do property.."
The last 10 years we've been rolling in it and we've nothing to show for it apart from the National Children's Hospital which still isn't open.
No infrastructure built at all.
Of course Pat Kenny didn't bother to ask about this.
Pat seems to want Ireland to cut off ties with America altogether. I haven't heard if he's suggesting boycotting American goods or calling for people not to holiday in America.
Why on earth woould he ask about this, that wasn't the theme of the interview? It is the Minister of Finance's job to get the money, it is the Minister of Transport's job to build roads and railways and the Minster of Housing's job to build houses.
The Finance Minister gives out the money as well under our system.
Pat wants us to retaliate because he says Trump is a "bully". This sort of 4th year stuff from Pat Kenny.
PK is sounding like a CA/IMHO or After Hours thread in relation to the US President.
It's very tiring and does nothing to inform the listener.
You can argue about the proper response, but there is no doubt that Trump is a bully. Given that the US has acted entirely outside normal treaties and processes then retaliation is entirely appropriate, the only issue is making sure that it works.
I just wouldn't expect this bully label to be used in a serious conversation about world trade. It comes across as a bit amateurish.
He was a fascist at one point. Now he's a bully.
Technically the minister for Public Expenditure gives out the money, the Minister for Finance handles taxing and bring money in.
The Finance Minister allocates his budget. The Finance Minister is the main person in the cabinet.
We have a very weak cabinet system. The main power lies with the Finance Minister and the Taoiseach. Due to our coalition culture, the leader of the second party is then included in the main power structure. The rest of the cabinet is informed of the decisions and go along with them.
I believe Henry McKean has won awards for his work. I can't quite understand how…maybe I just haven't heard his good stuff.
He probably does property properly.
Tomato puree with lamb??
No thanks.
Do not underestimate how hard it is to get a vox pop - and then multiply that 10-fold to get a good one.
I'm not being sarcastic either. It's a skill in itself.
Is Scott Lucas the most arrogant lecturery American on Irish radio?
was there even a point in playing that segment of some americans booing and hissing each other?
Generally had a lot of time for Pat over the years in his shows but his obsession with Trump is very tiring .I can't stand Trump but Pat seems to have the same spiel about him in one form or another every day .
