The two Johnnie's are to move to the iconic mid-morning Gerry Ryan slot and Jen Z goes to drive according to the red tops today https://www.rsvplive.ie/news/celebs/2fm-planning-major-shake-up-32825017
Possible, and 5 of them will be from the NK stable.
Yer wan who got as far as the letter S lately, I gave it another listen to try and figure out how much time she lost by not knowing answers. A highly subjective exercise, but I got 16 seconds. Dunno would she have made it even with those 16 seconds returned to her, that's still seven questions to go.
Generally it's very difficult. I'd say you'd need to be shooting off the answer to the question before Carl even finishes it cos it looks like every second counts. And you could easily get scuppered by one nasty question with an answer you'd never get even you had an army of monkeys for a year typing random words beginning with that letter. What was the one about the Portuguese pastry or something? Crikey.
As for Clock Blockers, I'll miss it, but it was ruined in its last few weeks in Carl's absence. Taryn took absolutely forever to ask the questions so that a contestant might have got through maybe 11 questions in the 60 seconds. It was impossible to win, whereas Carl always put the foot down to get in as many questions as possible. And I didn't like the way Taryn didn't engage with the questions when she was reading out the answers. At least with Taryn he'd offer some interesting facts about whatever the subject matter was. Where is she now by the way?
She’s a permanent resident on doireann show even though it’s just her name on it may as well have three names on it. My kids use to love lily's dilemma but what they’ve replaced it with is crap with ros dog as voice is awful
I never listened to Lily's Dilemma, I only ever listened back to Clock Blockers and left it at that. What was it? And what's the replacement?
Daily clues by a little girl that would get more specific as the week went on. Kids would do voice messages. No it’s a ros dog which includes some stupid voice that he’s on his travels somewhere but same idea but voice does you’re head in. Can’t even understand it sometimes
I call it Willy's dilemma. Yeah, it's not a patch on Lilly. It's more geography based, which kids aren't as well up on.
Wasn’t it very nice of Dan Healy and RTÉ in general to move the whole team to Cork last week for a few days to accommodate Doireann Garrihy’s private podcast live events?
What was the cost for this for all team members? Who paid for Garrihy’s travel and accommodation?
Just curious as a licence fee payer……
A bit of regional programming from Cork. I see nothing wrong with it :) nothing at all, I see one of her dresses from DWTS is being given away on Insta, surely a bit of charity if every I did see it!
Whilst on the surface that sounds generous aren’t those dresses bought for her by RTÉ? There was an article in the papers last week about how much RTÉ spent with various retailers dressing the “stars”. Is it technically even hers to give away? Is there an assumed ownership of this item on her part? It is RTÉ after all…..
Not familiar with this but the point the poster is probably making is perhaps ONLY Doireann could be based in the Cork studio ? The remainder of her team remaining up in donnybrook - it works for other shows?
Hard to know, but I think an FoI about the charities might be in order.
Doireann was the only one based in Cork. (Just to mention I think this is pretty much RTÉ suiting Doireann and this is after RTÉ have said that the carry on from before would not happen, we are now in a situation where if a high-profile staff member wants to take her show to Cork she can, you'd have though some might suggest a brief appearance on the TV show that comes from Cork. )
It really is business as usual after KB’s initial tough talk. 🙄
Just after listening back to this morning's A to Z quiz. Traumatic listening. Unless... it's an April Fool's Day prank on the unsuspecting public? The caller got all the way to the end and her line went quiet on the Z question...
EDIT: Give it a listen...
And even at that it took 89 seconds and without the last answer. So I say it’s virtually impossible to do with any kind of thinking
It's definitely pretty much impossible for any ordinary person.
So then you're talking about getting the answer in as soon as you think you know either what the question is going to be ("What J played Rachel Gree..." → Jennifer Aniston) or that there's only one possible answer (e.g. "What O is a county that…" → Offaly, it doesn't matter what the rest of the question is). And you'll need a ton of luck that the question isn't something that's gonna kill you then and there. For example, if you've never heard of Ulysses by James Joyce and that's your U question, you're screwed.
Just gave it another listen armed with a stopwatch. She spent less than 5 seconds on every single question. In fact she went over 4 seconds on just five questions. It's not looking good for anyone even if they know all the answers.
A great idea to bring Doireann back. Especially know she’s expecting
Is she? Great timing for her
a cushy number on her part
"I'm so looking forward to the arrival of my first child in a few months. I'll miss my sleep for sure, but I'm confident he or she will sleep well in their lovely cot from the Bouncy Baby Superstore on the Naas Road and their gorgeous babygro from Beau Bébé in Glenageary."
"Now…any nappy companies looking to sponsor me?"
So women who might be having children shouldn't get jobs now, is it?
she departed 2FM at the time (not sure 'exactly' why) a big shock announcement and 6 months later she returns ?
was anyone else in the running for the drivetime show or did she push her way back into 2FM too land herself a steady job rather than relying on social media / podcasting work?
Didn't she say she was leaving to "pursue the projects I've been dreaming about" before coming back six months later? I mean, who among us hasn't had lifelong projects that we completed within six months?
I assume she left thinking companies would be queuing up to partner with her or they'd be an offer from another broadcaster, when it didn't happen, she came back. And for some reason, 2FM didn't hold it against her and gave her a top slot straight away.
Nothing has changed, has it?
Delighted for Doireann Garrihy Enterprises Inc. I hope this baby brings her lots of commercial opportunities, sponsorships, gifts, articles in VIP Magazine, “collabs” happiness.
With regards to the question posed in your last paragraph - RTÉ had to ask her agent first.
Loddie will be delighted a vacancy will arise - but again RTE will overlook her for some social media "personality"
I hear Shireen Langan is about to leave SPIN 1038, could she possibly be in line for a 2FM show?
Might be some movement of DJ with the setting up DAB. ONIC HITS ?
The A-Z quiz was won this morning
