Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Sure just as well we don't have any need for a mid-size venue here. It would be sitting empty while the Maccabees do multiple nights in smaller venues....

august is always a quiet month here, only handful of shows listed for vicar st and national stadium at the moment. If Olympia used for a solitary Maccabees then academy is sitting empty for two nights.
The Academy a strangely small venue for them to choose. Yet another act for a 5k Dublin venue.
Just checked their tour dates and they're all pretty low-key venues, clearly a set of dates to get rid of the rustiness before the headline the 50k capacity APE in Victoria Park. They'll also have an enormous crowd at Glasto and are doing a small Germany/Low Countries tour before then.
Barrowlands is like 2000 and Manchester is close to 5000????
Barrowlands 1,900, O2 Victoria 3,500, small given their pulling power. Larger venues in the same cities in 2026?

not sure what your smoking if you thinking Maccabees are a 5000 venue band in Dublin
They're easily going to sell 1,700 tickets in Dublin, could do many more and the buzz after Glastonbury would ensure the hall was filled. Any act selling 50,000 tickets in London can do 5k here. Raye & Barry Can't Swim headlining APE on other nights. Most 50k acts will be 3Arena level here.
This is showing as standing tickets only available. Weird that there wouldn't even be a single seated ticket. Anyone know if they're releasing standing first or are seated genuinely all gone?
The Academy is basically standing only. There's a few seats up on the balcony but they're first come first serve on the night

Fairly meh venue. Always over sold, loads of noise from the bars and the view and/or sound is dog shít in about 75% of the room.
Agreed. It gets good gigs but, as a space, it's pretty crap.

I was shocked they were announced as headliners for that. Would be even more shocked if it comes anywhere close to selling out. They were never that big. Would've thought the Olympia would be their limit here.
I’m sure they will sell the 2x Academy out quickly but massive difference that and 5000 tickets. No hope of the London show doing 50k. Expect it to end up around 30k with all that support bill. and uk bands popularity in their own country can be disproportionate to their popularity here and vice versa. All point east is notorious for discount tickets, giveaways etc. it’s programming is very weird
Yeah, tickets for LCD were £25 last year from APE on the day.
Notoriously never sells well.. The Strokes I think may have sold it out - or close to - but that was it.
Heavily subsidised from advertising - huge stalls for Cupra, MasterCard, Levis.. you name it.
Can't see The Maccabees selling too many at all tbh.

Last gigs they played in London (on the back of a number 1 album) were three nights in Alexandra Palace (30,750 tickets). They were getting ever bigger hence the surprise at their breaking up. I'd be very surprised if Victoria Park doesn't sell out, particularly after the Glasto buzz. They've always drawn large crowds there and I'd expect their biggest yet in June.
Maccabees APE gig will be sold out a couple of weeks after Glasto. They sold more than 30k for their last London gigs in Ally Pally and this return will make the demand greater. Check back in mid-July.

Victoria Park - and having been to APE twice - it's not very well regarded in terms of sound, blatant commercialism and the like.
It's a big difference from a gig in Ally Pally.
Been there a dozen times. Lived nearby. Sound is excellent, until unfortunately 9pm when they turn it down for local residents.
Blatant commercialism for an outdoor Summer gig. Who knew?
Lovebox, Field Day, APE, Radiohead, Citadel all sold out when I've been there. A great park for gigs (before the curfew), excellent Hackney pubs and food outlets nearby for afters.
Maccabees will do well but wait until mid or late July for a sellout.

There's a reason it's still going despite rarely selling well.. it's their sponsors putting in huge money for these stalls.
Anyways.. we'll see come July but I wouldn't be holding your breath for a sell out.
EP wouldn't have survived without Heineken. Primavera would be gone without various beer brands and the Catalan government. See also Open'er Gdynia and dozens of others across Europe. APE is no different and has had very quirky independent stuff in the past. The lineups have greatly declined though.
Heineken sponsorship was never that substantial. EP survived caused festival republic and mcd saw that oxegen as a brand was dead and they needed a weekend camping festival and John Reynolds was desperate for a financial backer to sustain it. primavera was and isn’t dependent on beer sponsorship either. APE is a sponsorship activation that happens to be soundtracked by bands. It’s a crazy level that would give Melvin more ideas to flood EP with sponsorship stages. APE is a valuable commodity for AEG as it gives them Victoria park lease, gives them London festival to keep and book its rosters on. Uber paid millions in sponsorship fees as well.
