Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Harsh I think re Bon Iver, but I think you're spot on re RA. It's not entirely believable that a 50-year-old hungover dude would do a 3-hour Vicar St gig the night after the Belfast mess. It ain't easy to recover quickly at that age.
Maybe he fell off the wagon in Belfast but he celebrated 3 years sober last September and has consistently stated it since. Who knows? He ain't saying much but we'll hear from him and his team soon enough.
Was anyone else at MF Doom in the Button Factory a good few years back. That can't have been more than 40m and it was well after 10pm. (Was it even him?)
Worst one I've attended bar a Babyshambles gig when the rest of the band sat in the bar and plainly told us they had no idea where Pete Doherty was and of course he didn't appear. Don't recall getting refunded for either.
it was real MF DOOM though he had a fake dj pretending to scratch and mix when it was just DOOM hitting instrumental on his laptop connected to speakers
Yeah, I remember the fake DJ alright.
DOOM was living the gimmick that night.
it was that tour that ended up causing his deportation from America. Was never able to return to America after it
He defo had a few drinks last night. Odd sip here and there nothing major.
But yes. If it was the structureless mid breakdown shambles people believed, theres no way he starts at exactly 8.05pm and finishes at exactly 11.10pm every night.
He did a lot of the stuff last night he did in Belfast. Talking a lot with no amplification, muttering, walking around the crowd, responding to idiot hecklers (one who got turfed out at intermission) etc.
I actually think its a very well crafted show. 2nd half was all music but the first half was equal parts panto, performance art, music and theatre. And yeah, a large chunk of mental instability thrown in.
Sure he never got a US Passport did he.
nah brought over as a child to US and don’t think there was any way he could regularise himself. Hence he avoided European tours. Think he thought given his long standing residency and family in us he would gain readmission but nothing happened. Lived in Leeds for last years of his life
Speaking of Bon Iver I see they're doing listening space yokes for his new album. One of them is in Cork. Could be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 but wonder does that potentially hint at a gig in Cork for Sounds From A Safe Harbour?
apologies if wrong but not seen this posted yet
Arcade Fire release their 7th album “Pink Elephant” in a few weeks so a tour is likely to follow. Teaser track “The Year Of The Snake” is out for streaming.
would you like to see my pink elephants trunk or stroke my snake are his new chat up lines.
he has not announced any tour to support the new album- so far, but read something like, he’s going to hang low for a while, maybe he’l come out to play solo at the festival, or with the other half of Big Red Machine
Remember seeing them when they started that tour one the eve of the allegations against him and it was an awkward night alright between half the crowd being aware and unaware of them,
He actually came out to greet people and walked around the place I suppose to gauge the vibe in the place, I'm more surprised they're still going after all that,
Quite an awkward gig and even started it with wake up to get us on side 😅
I mean I read that as some drugs from space.
Would be class alright! Might just do a few gigs in London and few here or something
Haha space yokes the best kind of yokes..! ;)
Just remembered buying tix for these after a few too many last week! Anyone caught them before? Just looking a keep, donate, avoid type of recommendation. Cheers
They haven't released anything of note for me for such a long time but that new track is quite the departure and sounds excellent.
Haven't seen them myself but there have been a number of positive reviews of them in here in the past. @Mucker46 is your man for the finer details.
Definitely keep. They are class musicians and the lead singer sounds like Thom. Really good setlists as well.
Seen them twice. Class experience

The Resale Ticket Portal is open for The Open Golf in Royal Portrush in July.
Currently only showing availability for Day Tickets up to Thursday. Managed to pick up one for the Sunday earlier.
The Open - Resale Tickets
Anyone seen October Drift? On a pal's recommendation re their live show I got tickets for them though not greatly impressed by the recorded stuff. Their set at the Roisín tomorrow night has been moved from 9pm to 1am so getting home circa 3am ain't great. I've loads off stuff on Sat morning and afternoon so would only go if there are some recommendations here.
Joan As Police Woman tonight, been a while. Any feedback from Belfast on Tue?
Seen them well recommended on another group I'm on. Was gonna check them out in Dublin tonight but am sick at the mo unfortunately
Year of the Trouser Snake?
Track and video both very good. Hope for them yet.
second night for the Maccabees announced
Odd that they didnt upgrade to the Olympia.
no concerts in olympia from mid June to mid September. Various theatre shows take it over in summer months. Dancing at Lughnasa Etc in olympia for the summer
Nothing scheduled there for most of Aug so far.
