Are asexuals 'fake oppressed'? Mod Note in Post #221

On Asexual Awareness Day, JK Rowling has caused more strife because she's mocking aseuals for wanting their fake oppression.

I am asexual myself, and I have to say I kind of find it funny. I know she's awful, but I have an awful sense of humour more common in people more bigoted than mysekf. But I knew my fellow asexuals would throw the baby with the bathwater. I am just curious do people here agree with her. A lot of asexuals have become asexual because of sexual violence and asexuals have been known to have had traumatic conversion therapy.

Like to me asexuality means I'd rather eat and watch TV and walk and watch old films than ****. That's all it **** is. It's all very boring, really.
To me, LGB people are people who are ultra-comfortable with sex.
Asexuals aren't. Gay people like having sex. Asexuals don't. Simples. But I know people will disagree.

The huge irony, of course, is that the original Rowling post was a literal attempt to silence people, an attempt to undermine a very simple, inoffensive awareness campaign and event.

And how any criticism of Rowling's knee jerk reaction is countered with 'Oh you can't be silencing Rowling' (as she attempts to silence anyone who doesn't subscribe to her world view).

The posts speak for themselves and although I am sure you will have certain people defending your stance, most rational people will see the reality.

Back on topic though, Asexual people aren't fake oppressed. They aren't even pretend oppressed or really oppressed. They are just people who aren't fond of a fumble. No need to bring awareness to it.

Nope. I didn't say I was being silenced. I said that hinting or insinuating that if you have a different opinion will make some people afraid to speak freely for fear of being called some sort of "phobe" or "bigot". Plus I'm really not annoyed.

And be honest, you heavily implied that I was a bigot.

I don't mind though, I'm immune to those sort of accusations. I'm too long in the tooth to be worried about silly labels for having a rational opinion.

Saying she disagrees with absurdities like "woman is a gender and therefore you can just become a woman" is not hateful. It's not bullying. Does she get snarky because of the disgusting filth thrown at her which you'd find in the grimmest incel corners? Of course she does - as would anyone. It's fashionable to be a cu*t to middle aged women if they don't have the right opinions. That kArEn shoite. And it's especially nauseating coming from "liberals" and "feminists" - happy to behave like misogynistic scum like they did with Roisin Murphy who merely said teenagers shouldn't be given puberty blockers - which they shouldn't. It's plain who the bullies are.

Rowling used to get stick for being too liberal. She wouldn't give a sh-t if someone was gender non conforming. She just disagrees with male people in women's prisons and sports. And while people will do all sorts of mental gymnastics to pretend this is bigotry, they know it's not and they know she's right.

If people had a "Manchester City fan day of awareness" I would, again, say that they are looking for attention for a facet of their life that is not important to anyone else.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous to have a day to bring awareness of something that quite frankly, nobody apart from those who are already aware of it, cares about.

It is attention seeking for the sake of it.

Because as I said before, I don't like the alphabet soup term. Gender nonconformity i find too big a category (I hate the word cis, with all my being, because I find it others gender nonconformity) to be an adjunct to same sex attraction.

It would be better if we didn't have labels.
