I love Marty & Dee. They generally keep the chat to a minimum, and I love Marty's grumpiness. I only listen to the 1st hour of Dee then over to Foley at 2pm.
I presume you're taking the piss!
Dee can't stop talking!
Usually some crap she's read on the 'net about some band or song.
How much longer can the Nova noise go on for at this stage?
six years.
in my option it is the best radio game is the best ireland.
I'm not, and you're wildly exaggerating about her non stop talking. She does small bits in between a few songs, and they're generally short.
Anyone else listen to Nova on a smart speaker?
I used to just say 'Hey Google play radio Nova' but I get some other station from Australia.
To get the local Nova, it's now 'Hey Google play Radio Nova 100'..
Yeah with Alexa you have to say "Play Radio N-O-V-A 100"
Sidenote, that Nova Noise is frustrating, over 2 years, plenty of clues, a short video of it and having it explained they recorded the sound being made, yet you still have people ring in and ask "A horse missing a jump and knocking off a rail for four faults"…that's actually on the list
I still think it's a stapler or a pedal bin....
Satsuma in a wash basket.
I've never seen the video. Is it available anywhere?
Some of the guesses are ridiculously bad.
Does anyone agree that "Off the Record" with Pat James should be instated into the 9pm-12am Saturday evening slot instead of just being on Nova Extra?
of course pat should be back on FM but seeing as he is male and plays music that is not "addictive" - it won't happen.
You can be sure that only the hopeless guesses make it on air.
With the number of producers who must know the answer, must be at least ten involved over the week's schedule, how the hell have they managed to avoid the answer leaking out?
I heard the other Pat - Courtenay - this afternoon and he commented on the Fleetwood Mac track Little Lies in the context of their "resurrection" day, i.e. musical artistes that have passed away. He mentioned that the original "guitar God" founder Peter Green was noted and that this particular track was a bonus. He could have mentioned the late Christine McVie instead who wrote and sang that song, and of course Peter Green was not in that line up!
And when you say "addictive". What do you mean?
I'm taking the piss out of their "seriously addictive" tagline that they've been using for 10+ years
Played and mentioned Christine McVie earlier today.
Great to have Kieran McGuinness on again today
hi all
this may have come up but…
Why don't Nova censor words in songs during the day? or why dont they have to?
cheers
You'll have to give examples here because I can't think of any songs that might have offensive words. At least not during any daytime shows. They might have a soft watershed after 6 or 9.
On another note, are Classic Hits and Nova sharing news bulletins? I noticed they don't mention Radio Nova anymore on the introduction or that weird sting that says "live"
Is the N word in a Thin Lizzy song. I'm sure he says a White N in a song they play
Hi
a couple come to mind
Played Money by Floyd the other day "Do goodgy good b*llshit not censored", the play back to black by Amy regularly "kept his dick wet" "you love blow and i love pearls"…. "dick" and "blow" censorened on other stations
Slightly OT but curious…on all stations….Sex on Fire fine by KOL but Bruno Mars line "your sex takes me to paradise" censored!? whats the criteria
Amy Whitehouse's "Back In Black" being a frequent one! although it's not technically a rude word…
Think its Elvis Costello Oliver's Army which stands out alright!
And the irony is that Elvis Costello asked that the version with that phrase left in, not be played anymore.
I keep expecting it to be censored, and then I’m surprised that it’s not.
There's a line in the unedited for radio version of The Who's Who Are You: Who the f*** are you. I have heard it played during daytime on Nova. It is a long time since I heard the cleaned up version (Who the hell are you). Contrast that with the two versions of Creep by Radiohead. I think I have only heard the cleaned up version during the daytime (and nearly any other time too): "very stupid" as opposed to "f***ing stupid".
Special, not stupid.
Think they play the bleeped version of Mumford and Sons Little Lion Man too (on the rare occasions they play it)
