It's exactly like that to me also. Glorious sun and blue skies but very cold.
Down around Valentia, The Kerry Cliffs , Portmagee and Ballinskelligs there are some great spots to take pictures. Great weather for it too.
Saharan dust kicked in this morning by the looks of it with the sunrise glowing red, here aligned with the Baily Lighthouse from the Bull Wall in Clontarf.
Dusty or hazy looking sky now with not much in the way of blue.

Not been on much, but a lovely stretch of weather. Dry as hell and an abundance of sunshine in Dublin. Pesky onshore winds taking the edge off the sunshine, but it's a double edge sword I guess - 90% of our good weather round here must come with an onshore breeze. Wouldn't wish it away at the risk of losing the fine sunny days.
Adding the below to the 'ah here!' days though. Has happened a fair few times over the years. Fascinating structure to the little patch of cloud, three thin chimneys of it arcing up along the Wicklow coast into Dublin. Just sitting there all day mocking those who wanted sunshine.
Sunshine is never guaranteed in Ireland unfortunately.
It's a very localised bank of cloud (though covering around a fifth of the population) but it's still amazing that with all our technology and AI etc, it can't even be forecast just 24 hours in advance.
The forecast for the next few days is almost non-stop sunshine - though I'd be amazed if it turns out like that. I'd be highly surprised if large banks of cloud, mist and fog don't ruin things for some parts over the coming week. Hopefully the pain is evenly shared around the country!
I find these HP set-ups can be very risky - for the East at least. You might get a beautiful day like last Sunday or even yesterday from it. Or you might get a grey and cold day like today.

I’ve posted a few of the same type of screenshot over the years, and these days just randomly seem to happen. Some sort of topographical quirk with very specific interplay between the Wicklow mountains, wind direction, pressure etc etc that is just too complex to call with confidence in advance. There’s been very static periods of fine HP weather that has seen a day in the middle with that tiny patch of cloud billow up.
The forecast for the next 8-10 or so days is fantastic, endless sun and temps creeping up for Dublin, HP more overhead most of the time so I’d be fairly confident it will be as sunny as currently envisioned! Such a mood enhancer. Long may it last.

The weather has been great recently so we really can't complain. It's just frustrating when something forecast so close doesn't turn out at all.
But while I get that today there may be some type of topographical quirk at play, there have been many days where huge banks of cloud haven't burned off or where large banks of cloud have come down across the country despite not being forecast.
In Ireland, unexpected cloud cover under HP systems is quite common.
lovely day again here in Meath, plenty of sun but that windchill would knife you in two, winter jacket definitely needed.
You know we've got some level of weather-related PTSD in this country when we're all so fearful of what this bit of good weather might mean for the summer! Really hoping that we don't end up paying for this in June/July. Last year I had to take a sun holiday at the end of the summer because we had such a dull, cool few months. I didn't even want to go on holiday but I had to for my sanity. Hoping that this year I'll be able to do my usual routine and stay home but I'm getting a bit pessimistic about that as this fine spell goes on.
All very true, has been the bane of me in years past when cloud doesn't burn off. Though again, seems to be a topographical thing as many a time you will watch cloud burn off rapidly across the island but the patch of Wicklow/Dublin stays put till the evening.
Should be enough of an easterly component over the next week or more to keep us in dry air with prolonged sunshine though, it's the best air source to keep fine weather cloud to a minimum I find.
The dramatic levanter cloud over the Rock of Gibraltar is maybe a version of what happens here sometimes. The time-lapse videos of it are fascinating and can show the perils of living on the leeward side of highland when the wind direction is hitting the windward side. On days the below happens there tends to be no other cloud cover for miles, just this patch glued to the highland! But it takes very specific wind speeds and direction to cause it. Could be totally different to what happens here sometimes but nonetheless here's a nice animation of it for the sake of it!
EDIT: Fabulous late afternoon here in D9 now btw. Cloud eventually budged and a return to beautiful sunshine.
I've been to Gibraltar quite a few times in my earlier years and I always remember seeing that dramatic cloud as I cross the border from La Linea across the border control at Gib Airport. The local Gibraltar terrestrial service we could pick up in Fuengirola in the 80s and early 90s and talk of Levanter cloud was always mentioned in the daily forcast.

Mean temperature is already running 1C above average in Dublin and 2.8C above average in Mace Head. Impressive for so early in the month.

Just arrived here in Alicante, where it's 21°C with hazy spells of sunshine. There's a keen wind, so it feels coolish, which was surprising considering I haven't experienced temperatures like this in many months. The same low pressure responsible for the cloud/drizzle back home has generated some big shower clouds in Spain, as per the picture.

That easterly wind is a bloody pest at this time of year on the east coast. Right up to and including June it can shave off a good few degrees.
Will be wearing a jumper and jacket over next few days despite the sun.
yeah easterlies tend to not get warm until about mid June around this part of the country. End of June to mid September is when easterlies are at their prime for delivering proper warmth in eastern areas.
Beautiful morning. We are absolutely spoiled. Loads to do in the garden today.
Was brighter earlier this morning, broken cloud now with milky sunshine and a cool ENE breeze but starting to climb now to 14C or so. Doing very well here in Kerry this last while with around 18C yesterday, probably get up to 16C here today, maybe close to 17C at a stretch.
Being spoiled this Spring, wall 2 wall sun in North Ros. Pity about that easterly wind but that should be more or less gone by Monday 🤗
Same story every year, Dublin and the immediate east cost is probably the worst place to be in the country when we get nice spring weather. It's only really mid/late summer through the autumn where the scales flip and we tend to get the best of the weather
It's been lovely most of the week (yesterday was a bit miserable here) but very hard to enjoy it much when there's a stiff breeze making it feel baltic if you're not on the move
Some breeze in Cork, unbelievable drying conditions but taking the edge off the temps for sure. Roches Point reporting 13c 40kmh gusting 65kmh.
