Finally
The GameCube NSO footage on the Treehouse video was very impressive. Definitely running at a higher resolution than the originals. F-Zero GX looks quality and basically removes the need for a remaster. Would love to see Rogue Leader on this service at some stage....
Also, looks like the N64 app will introduce fully customisable controls and a rewind feature on NS2.
Pro controller 2 will have to be set up for GameCube games I'm guessing that and the 3.5 jack the obvious upgrades
Got my preorder in Smyths so relieved €61 a week for next two months then pow June 5th.
Still no analogue triggers?
For fecks sake!
And not having Welcome Tour as a pack-in like Nintendoland is nuts, just nuts
My pre-order is in yippee. Sold a few old games that I no longer play or want and got myself a cool €110 towards the Switch 2. Roll on June 5th!
The new Mariokart looks great. Not too mad about the new Donkey Kong game on first impressions. It’s hard on the eyes with all the destruction but as I’ve never played the two Zeldas, I’ll be busy enough!
I was expecting that too but with Kirby Air Riders being the next Miyamoto game I doubt it's that close. They could do it without him I guess but not sure how well that would go down.
On the topic of the Switch 1 game upgrades, I'm suprised there wasn't any for Mario Golf or Tennis. I liked both of them but felt they were a bit short on content.
Does anyone remember did the original Switch sell out its initial supply here? Remember getting one from Argos at launch but Argos was funny with games as no one really thought about it so you could usually get stuff from there.
Don't see any reason to buy digital games whatsoever from Nintendo as they hold their price.
The pricing is undeniably bizarre, between that and the branding hopefully there'll be a price drop ala the 3ds. Would love to know how pre orders are doing.
It just seems like such a bizarre thing to charge for. Astro's Playroom was a dualsense showcase but plays like a proper game. Welcome Tour (from what we see in the video) looks like a tech demo you'd just as handy watch on YouTube. 90 euro for games? Im trying to think of reasons for it. Even starting to think they upped everything a bit because of Trump's tarrifs.
As far as I remember it wasn't super hard to get a switch after being released in March 2017, you just had to be quick when somewhere got stock. A lot of people were balking at the €330 price then too. By December 2017 it was very hard to find any in stock though due to Christmas and I'd expect the same again this year.
Have the pre-order in with Smyths, but do they ever offer trade in deals like Gamestop used to? Need to get me switch onto adverts quick smart otherwise 8)
First party game sizes revealed: https://www.eurogamer.net/switch-2-game-sizes-revealed-how-much-internal-storage-will-you-need
Definitely looks like you won't need to be rushing out for a bigger memory card, unless you're planning on getting a bunch of 3rd party titles like Cyberpunk (which I think is shipping on a 64gb card).
The modest Mario Kart size does make me wonder why the physical card is so expensive though. I would imagine the presumably higher speed format they're using now is just more expensive at a base level.
My hope with Mario Kart is that they reveal that it will continually get updates throughout the life of the Switch 2 and part of that cost is baked in at the start. Nintendo could equally turn around and announce paid DLC though going by some of their other past decisions.
The more I see of the hardware though, it really is a massive jump over the original Switch. I can see where the price is coming from a bit more for there hardware but it's the cost of software that will bring the real pain!
One thing to think of with the SD card actually is transferring over your existing Switch data. I definitely have enough Switch digital content to take up a very large chunk of that internal memory.
It will almost definitely get updates but probably have to pay for them
90 euro for MKW in Smyth's? wow
https://ibb.co/JwrJ3Dqs
I don't think so. I remember walking into Smyth's Cork launch day and just buying one off the shelf, along with BOTW.
Cost me €400 (a weeks wages at the time) but well worth it.
Duskbloods doesn't interest me at all, and I love Soulsborne.
The internet is saying "wow the sequel to Bloodborne arrived on Nintendo, and not PS" but it doesn't look that that to me.
It looks like a dodgy multiplayer game with PS3 graphics. I mean, there a guy flying around on a jetpack. And the Elden Ring port looks like the PS3 version as well.
Looks like some Switch 2 stuff is cheaper on Amazon France.
70 for Mario Kart.
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0F3J9FTLC
I think you might have some rose tinted glasses on there in relation to how well PS3 games still look…
Wow 20 euro cheaper. Maybe Smyths's are chancing their arm?
I also noticed the Aussie version works out at 63 euro.
So either Smyths are having a larf or us Paddies are getting shafted once again.
Then again I remember when Street Fighter 2 on SNES came out. I think it was £65 Irish pounds in 1992. That must be €200 today.
To be fair to Smyths, 90 is Nintendo’s advertised price for the physical version of Mario Kart, which is insane.
As much as an advocate as I am for physical media, the console bundle with the game is an absolute no brainer. Will surely account for a sizeable majority of sales.
Interesting, the Zelda games (switch 2 editions) are 60 quid on amazon.fr but 80 from Smyths. Huge difference there.
Breaking news - What a crapshow
https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-tariffs-news-04-04-25/index.html
I had a feeling that might happen. Maybe we'll finally see US console prices actually come in line with EU ones…
Anyone who hasn't played BOTW/TOTK is in for a treat on Switch 2 at 1440p 60 FPS HDR.
Jealous.
Donald Trump will probably force it to be 30 FPS in the US.
I guess they're waiting to see if the tariffs stick and they'll have to increase the price or if Trump will remove them once he gets some surface level deal like with Canada to placate him with the tariffs last month.
While obviously outside their control, not good having to delay pre orders and have a possible price increase on the console two days after revealing it and already facing complaints about the game pricing.
Thank you, Trump, for awarding the rest of the world with more Nintendo Switch 2.
Any consoles made in China will face 34% increase in the US. Wow
If the yanks mess this up on June 5th we all collectively rent a sub and have ourselves a good old fashioned d day on June 6th wherever we land on the US east coast show Trump he has to pay
How many here are going to rebuy BOTW to upgrade for the new features it's currently €48 in CeX. I have lost my cart at home and think I will definitely want to get it again to finish things off.
The TOTK phone app map looks like a life saver for me am definitely looking forward to that.
