I opted for home delivery myself as the closest smyths to me is in waterford.
Will they deliver for release date and do they take the money out when you pre order it or when it ships?
I just watched the treehouse live for 10 minutes. I was lukewarm on Mario Kart yesterday, but I'm invested now - it looks fantastic. Grinding rails looks like a lot of fun.
How good are Smyths with this kind of launch day delivery Any chance it lands June 4th? I'd have to be home from work I'd say. The likes of UPD, Fastway etc.. have an awful habit of leaving packages at the door
Smyth are pretty good got my launch day ps5 not on launch day but few days later.They use DPD for delivery which are decent.
I got my PS5 launch day with Smyths delivery. Based in Dublin
No charge when you preorder, they take right before they ship them out. They do deliver for release day(well try to)
I think perhaps Switch 2 is higher spec than expected. That means it's not the price point people were expecting from Nintendo either so that could be contributing to slower sales. Personally I'm 99.9% sure we'll end up getting it for Christmas. Junior will want it so maybe a lot of parents are thinking likewise. I remember being in a massive queue for switch 1 for Christmas at Smyths. We already have 2 pro controllers so that will soften the Switch 2 price a bit.
I am surprised by Nintendo charging for Welcome Tour on a 470 euro console. Very un-Nintendoesque.
Tariff on Vietnam is 46% but I guess it depends where good as shipped from rather than manufactured.
I wouldn't classify them getting it to you a few days after launch as good… I have a pre-order with them but in truth I'd rather pick it up from the store in the morning
What's this Welcome Tour I've seen mentioned on here a bit? It's some video/tutorial that plays when you boot the console up for the first time? Presume it's an optional payment?

The two From Software titles look incredible, and the improvements to existing Switch titles, and the NSO GameCube selection, remind me of the upscaled and improved framerates of emulation, which is no bad thing.
I can't wait to see Super Mario Sunshine, FZero GX and, hopefully, 1080° Snowboarding and Waverace.

I wonder what frame rates the From software games will run at. I hope we are done with 30 FPS only options. Give me 1080p 60 FPS over higher res/ray tracing/blah at 30 FPS any day.
Watched some of the tree house stuff. Metroid, Mario Kart and Donkey Kong all look very good and solid. Nothing super special, but very polished.
Nvidia have put out a blog about the Switch 2 CPU/GPU. Not much deep specifics, but re-confirms DLSS and Ray Tracing
AFAIK, it's the point of manufacturing, not point of shipping. If there wasn't any tariff between Japan and U.S. for example, but there was between China & Vietnam and U.S., Nintendo couldn't skirt around it by making the product in China, shipping to Japan, then shipping to the U.S.
That would be trade fraud.

Seeing as it didn’t cost anything, I pre-ordered the Mario kart bundle and the pro controller. Although in two minds about the controller since I already have the pro for S1.
In Australia, Switch 2 plus 2 games and a second controller exceeds $1000 😲
The Treehouse event chat today was inundated with Lower the Price. That is all anyone said.
Unless you are excited about the chat feature or the back buttons I don't see any reason to pick it up especially if you have a pro controller already

Only have a switch for the youngfella anyway. Yes I had Street Fighter 2 on the Mega Drive and, yes, it was like £60 but games were an absolute niche market back then.
The sheer economy of scale in the modern market means there is no fecking way that a game, like MarioKart, should be €90
I preordered one myself on smyths and will decide closer to the date if I'll get it.
80 euro for the likes of Kirby and Mario Party are simply not worth it to me. On the PS5, I think Death Stranding 2 and GTA VI will be the first games I've bought at full price this generation.
No Switch 2 upgrade for Smash Brothers is interesting, maybe they'll do a more substantial upgrade with new characters that'll need a mortage to afford 😂

Just on Smash Bros with no Switch 2 upgrade. I have a feeling Nintendo has a new Smash in the works and to be released within a year. Just a hunch. But It's hard to believe it's been over seven years since Ultimate. My favourite game on the original switch.
Strange there is Mario Kart AND that Kirby racing game in the same year. Huh ?
