China sales still No. 1 for the MY. Again, Q1!nit really a great indicator as most orders from early in the year or late 2024. I thought the leaders in sales would be small city cars but looking at the MY and the SU7 in the top 5 which are relative big cars.
straight line feels identical tbh.
When should the review be up Mark, intrested to see it, is it the AWD you have?
Yes it’s the LR AWD by the looks of it. Derek Reilly has the launch edition with the 20” wheels and acceleration boost.
Sales up in Italy. Seems the Italians don’t care too much about politics and realise a car is a car!
Grown can be interpreted either way I suppose. Did it grow from a low figure?
Yes it did. Sales are still down YoY.
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/teslas-new-car-sales-italy-down-7-first-quarter-despite-51-jump-march-2025-04-01/
Italy recently elected a far-right leader as their PM did they not? Could it be that many Italians simply agree with the Musk/Trump coalition in the US?
Overall sales are globally down 13% which is a much smaller drop than what I was expecting
It could be all the far right buying them or it could be the price, a model 3 performace is 10k cheaper in Italy and the AWD is 5k cheaper than here. China Tesla sales are down yoy but the model Y was still the best selling car for March in China, it's way to early in the cycle to start making a conclusion the sales slump is political.
Far right depends on your persepective.
EVs are cheaper across the board due to very generous incentives, including scrappage and grants targeted at lower income families. And still Tesla sales are down 7% year on year.
Many EV’s suffering due to cheaper arrivals. Look at polestar. They’ve been decimated here in Ireland. BYD even suffering with the seal.
The economy is different to a year ago. Major construction projects have been pulled from Dublin this year too. There’s a lot of uncertainty around and the very real risk of a downturn/recession looming.
EV adoption in Italy is absolutely hopeless. Growth on tiny volumes
A bit like ourselves I suppose.
Brothers of Italy are a far right party and their president is Georgia Meloni who also serves as the Italian PM
That's the perspective most would go with
way worse unfortunately
You're missing the point. Tesla are still selling well in Italy, 7% down isn't huge. But the overall growth in EVs this year is almost 75%. Polestar is irrelevant to this, it's a niche player at best. Sales of EVs are a mix of budget and mass market.
Looks like the Italians are as pragmatic as the Irish.
I think they generally do the opposite of what they are told!
Tesla cars are quite good EVs so many people would proceed with purchase.
jeez, the Semi was announced EIGHT years ago?! (which presumably means the Roadster is the same)
https://electrek.co/2025/04/04/tesla-semi-suffers-delays-dramatic-price-increase/
Can we realistically now state that the S, X, Semi, CT and Roadster are all either end of life or DOA - and Tesla produces the Y and 3 for the foreseeable?
Aside from the S, it’s a phenomenal amount of spend, to deliver absolutely nothing of substance in their Auto division in that period bar the refresh to the 3 and Y
Tesla has a big problem if it’s still only building those 2 cars in say 2 years from now.
S and X are not DOA, there was a major facelift 2 years ago. Agree on the rest, and anyone who paid the 250k deposit for the roadster 8 years ago needs their head examined. If they had put that cash in TSLA they would have had 3 roadsters by now
S and X also getting a facelift this year
It seems FSD will be allowed in Netherlands quite soon. Possibly late May?
What is FSD really worth when, where regulation allows, BYD will offer an equivalent level of automation on all their cars at basically zero additional cost.
If FSD is doing 500 to 1000 miles without intervention regularly, that's a fairly nice thing to have, especially if you're driving for a living (not me). I think, with big push on for cybercab Austin, there could be big improvements on the way. People were saying that the FSD team have gone very quite lately, so likely working hard on revisions. Caveat: Irish back roads are difficult for humans to compute; line markings on main roads and motorways are very inconsistent here (artistic interpretaions of local engineers I guess).
And only recent cars will have it as they've pretty much confirmed HW4 is required, this still does not get past our maritime climate and blocked cameras
We wont have this for years and years and years.
Camera only won't work. I've said it a million times. It's not good enough and doesn't have enough layers. Not to mention unless you're in LA it gets blinded in sun, rain, fog, wind, snow, and dark.
Hands off, drive you home from the pub legally, fsd, will not happen for years, and when it does it will have more than just camera based detection.
They'd still have zero roadsters because the thing still isn't real.
the value of three roadsters I mean, the 250k would be 750k or more!
A friend who lives in Amsterdam says the weather there has become indistinguishable from Ireland, quite wet. So, it is going to be available there in next 2 months apparently (not years), so let's see how that goes.
