Yeah, he's a professor in Maynooth University Geography Dept. He wouldn't have opined about the exact date of anything. There's nothing exact about predicting the weather. The article is just clickbait garbage, deliberately misattributing quotes and misusing meteorological terms.

Ireland in for dramatic weather change as Met Eireann forecast 20C temperature swing
Overnight, temperatures fell as low as -7C in parts - but Met Eireann has forecast a 20C swing within days. Temperatures of up to 13C are forecast for Monday with the national forecaster saying it will “feel milder through this weekend and into next week”.
A night time temperature compared to a daytime temperature...its nothing really other countries have a 40 degree or more difference in daytime winter temperature compared to daytime summer...we only have a 6 or 7 degree difference in summer compared to winter most of the time...its even common enough to get the same temperatures 12-13 degrees in winter and summer...its a joke sure...only in ireland

More severe storms may hit Ireland than normal over the coming months...
“Warmer-than-normal waters in the tropical Atlantic provide more fuel for hurricanes,” hurricane researchers at Colorado State University (CSU) explained in a new forecast this week.
Met Office has forecast the number of major hurricanes in the North Atlantic with winds of at least 179km/h to double this year from three to six. They also estimated there will be 19 named tropical storms and nine hurricanes, an increase on the number that usually take place.
Abbeyknockmoy weather recorder, Brendan Geraghty, collected 5.85 inches (nearly 150mms.) of rainfall in his gauge in February with heavy falls on the 5th (0.75 inches), 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 28th (0.53 inches).

USA sacks ~10% of its Met equivalent
Daniel Swain, climate scientist, said that the job cuts "are spectacularly short-sighted, and ultimately will deal a major self-inflicted wound to the public safety of Americans and the resiliency of the American economy to weather and climate-related disasters."

Killer storms and cruel winters: The history of extreme weather.
The findings indicate that under a scenario with very high concentrations of greenhouse gases by the end of the century, the NAO will increase to levels never before seen, posing severe risks of impacts from extreme weather such as flooding and storm damage. However, these impacts could be mitigated through efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Three long months of above average temps and high pressure ahead. Not sure if it is a fool or not

BBC will be back to a partnership with the Met Office from August 2025 onwards.
They've been using MeteoGroup data since early 2018.
Every year, UK folk spend 57 hours talking about the weather. Let's hope they don't ask Irish folk!

I was watching a college football game last night (from the US of course) and the game was suspended due to an approaching storm.
I was very impressed by their radar images, showing the local area, the location of the stadium and the current live positions of the rainfall and storm etc.
Was wondering if you can get that type of detail for my local position in Donegal? Is there any app that'll do it?
Would be handy to know where all the rain is locally, is it approaching etc.
did you try the met eireann app?
Funnily enough I haven't! Must go and download it.
go into the maps & recent rain will give you an idea on what's approaching. then there's predicted too.
mightn't be as good as what you seen last night, can zoom in that far but it's ok. let us know what you think
Yeah its kinda what I was after, as long as its accurate. I see a note on it saying it might not detect drizzle! Would need that in Ireland.
And obviously not as detailed as the one they had on US tV last night
Met or RTÉ giving us new placenames
