Personally I was disheartened that Berry didn’t get back in. I also thought FOL would have been re-elected but not to be.
Awful story here..
Hope the woman assualted can pull through!

Very little in the news about this considering how serious it was. Is she one the new druggies in town ? Saw her profile pic but not sure if she is the young one hanging around with the older man with the walking cane which makes her stand out. Same hair and eyes but not 100% sure.
Just watched the news on VM & they say a man has been arrested in connection with this atrocious assault.
Facebook has loads on this. She is local from Dara Park. Lots of rumours of state of her after that attack. Pretty sure that was the very cold night also.

Does anyone have any insight or information on the Pierce Park development near the train station? Considering it as an option to buy. Don't know the area well but proximity to train station etc. Would be moving as a solo buyer. Thanks
Useless insight #1: not named in honour of Patrick Pearse, 'cause spelling. I was way too old when that particular penny dropped.
Useless insight #2: the Rath that gave its name to the area is/was located opposite the Shackleton clinic.
Check the planning files in KCC offices. The staff are usually quite helpful, but give yourself lots of time. Rushing in near closing time is not helpful.
Might train noise be a problem for you? Some are bothered, others less so.
I read somewhere that supermacs was going into the old donals shop but I dont know where I read it. I cant see any application on the KCC website. Did anyone else read this somewhere?
Uugh. Please not another takeaway in the town. Hadn't heard that before.
I could be wrong cause I cant find where I read it
I heard that too. No idea if it’s true though. Agree though there’s already too many fast food places in Newbridge.
Anyone been to Gourmet inn? Any good?
I got a takeaway from there, so I haven't been for the sit-down experience. I wasn't overly impressed, although there wasn't anything in particular wrong with it. Just…fine, I suppose.
They've fancy bags for the prawn crackers, though. 😄
We got 3x takeaways, 2 were fine, one ordinary.
As BDB said,
"They've fancy bags for the prawn crackers, though. 😄 "
Anyone know what’s going on in the field between Duffy’s & the Wyeth roundabout ( on the College side of the road)?
Surely not more houses.
over 120 homes. Ballymore Properties developing it. Only got permission in late November so it’s moving fast. Includes works to R445.
Thanks for the heads up Richie. What works are planned? I assume with that number of houses, they’ll put a set of traffic lights at the entrance, which will only aggravate the already traffic congestion in mornings & evenings.
why would a small estate of 120 houses "aggravate" traffic? and it certainly does not need traffic lights.
The children will most likely walk to school. If anyone living there was going into Newbridge, they'd most likely walk too.
If they work in Kerry group or Citywest, they won't be adding to traffic congestion as they are passed the main cause which is the location of 3 schools.
Remember, 120 houses doesn't mean 120 cars leaving at the same time. People are not robots.
What was noticeable about this development was that there were no objections whatsoever by anyone.
I see the old keg pub has gone sale agreed. Any idea what the person who bought it is going to do with it?
Planning application stated the following.
“Vehicular/pedestrian and cyclist access from the Naas Road along with upgrades to the existing vehicular, pedestrian, cyclist and public transport infrastructure along the Naas Road including; the installation of new segregated cycle lanes either side of the Naas Road; a relocated bus stop location at the northern section of the Naas Road and upgraded bus stop at the southern section; a toucan pedestrian crossing across the Naas Road, revised carriageway, and enhanced pedestrian pathways”
Folks in this town wont be please to be seeing more cycle lanes 😜
Folks, what is going on with the number of new estates going up all around the town….the place will be absolutely clogged to hell the way its going. And not a new school, municipal sports area or public swimming pool to be seen…
I see Naas over there and what they have….pool, multiple astro pitches, hockey pitches, running track….its feckin' mad that from all these sites around the town with houses being thrown onto them that the council can't find one of them suitable, stump up the money and purchase it for the town
Also, I agree with previous poster….the town has plenty of takeaways…what it needs is good restaurants like Naas & Kildare, although I do think that nothing will survive long term here as we (Newbridge) is just a takeaway town. You can say there are a few places like Jaipore and Thaiger but these places survive mostly on takeaway custom, not dine in.

150,000 allocated wouldn't buy you a wall. I was under the impression from the last meeting in the town hall discussing the town plans, that the developer had to build this as part of their permission around the land. Now I know they went to An Bord Pleanála to change how the permission is got and no councillor could tell me if that thereby circumvents the original requirements regarding the bridge.
It took long enough. It was a election promise from the previous election, not the one just gone.
150k to fund a study to prove a "business case".
I'll give you one free - I rarely go into Newbridge because of the appalling traffic at the current Liffey bridge.
Tailbacks in the morning, tailbacks when there's a funeral, tailbacks at lunchtime and continued to 2.30 due to primary school, tailbacks at 4pm and again from 5pm to 6pm.
It has got so bad that if I have to go in I'd travel to the Curragh junction and go in via the Curragh, green road, Curragh grange and the back way into the industrial estate and out via Newbridge silver - its actually quicker.
Did you object to any during planning permission stages?
Hi All - we are looking at buying a house in Newbridge (Old Abbey Manor) and just checking if anyone might have feedback. We have a 3.5 Year old son and currently living in West Dublin. I see some other posts, but they are a bit old now. Thanks a million!
