New season so time to open the spring thread.
Will we get an improvement from the previous two stinkers? Time will tell.
A mostly cloudy and dry start in Dublin 13 with any rain spreading southeast fizzling out.
Feeling much colder today, horrible wind and plenty of showers on the way.
The current spell of weather has been lovely but the timing of the few interludes of bad weather has been frustrating. Trying to get a job done that needs 2 consecutive dry days and the only opportunity I have is the weekends. The previous 2 weekends were a write off for me with the weather, and today and tomorrow also showery and windy during the best part of the day so rules out this weekend as well. Sometimes it feels like the weather gods are out to spite me!
Just 6 to 7c today. A bit of a shock but normal March weather of hail and showers. Rain has passed 70mm for March now after being 13mm this day last week
The past 3 weeks have mainly been weekdays = lovely weather, weekends = wet, damp and cloudy.
I haven't noticed that at all. It's been dry every day for most of the month in the west and east. I only golf at weekends and there was zero rain. I have been out walking, cycling, cutting timber and gardening every weekend too. Given that Dublin Airport had less than 8mm of rain for the first 25 days of March, where was all this wet and damp in the East? I think revisionism is at play in your head again.
Dunsany has reported 9mm of rain after a wet couple of days this week. It got 95mm in March 2024.
Saturday 8th March
Baltic cold windy and overcast. Roll on the heatwave
A lucky glimpse of the partial solar eclipse through the cloudy sky over Dublin this morning shortly after the peak.
Bye bye winter time. Longer days ly ahead
Dreadful day yesterday. The wind would cut you in two.
on beautiful days like today, the only thing bad about it is your walk or run ending
A whole week of this ahead,Enjoy
Welcome summer time, the hill of Tara
Stunning day. Utterly glorious.
Leitrim
Yep, it was like a throw back of March from my childhood as I stood in wind and rain at football sidelines!
Thankfully it's glorious today for Mothers Day💐
Beautiful day in Greystones. Feeling very warm in the sun.
Patchy drizzle starting in Sligo after sunny morning . 12c
Glorious in Dublin for the inaugural Dublin City Half Marathon with nearly 12K finishers, fantastic day out. Thanks for all the cheers from the locals on the route.
And a how dare you to the cheeky girls holding up a placard saying "Worst Parade Ever"!! 🤣
Here comes the summer
Lovely evening
It's not bad now. Just cloudy but 14c and next 15 days look good. It's all or nothing here isn't it
Seen a butterfly today! It was resting on patio stones and then flew away so only got a small glance. I would guess it was one of the hibernating ones( think it was brown)and it's awake now after the winter.
Ara god love ya
I've noticed this is a perennial of Irish weather over the past few years. Its galling when you work Mon - Fri and see the sun through the office windows, then along comes the weekend and its rotten.
This weekend just gone was a miserable Saturday nice Sunday.
The one before that was the very same.
It just seems like more than randomness at this stage, there does seem to be a cyclical pattern there.
this mild weather is so nice, I feel so much more alive, really appreciating it
16 to 17C around Tralee and on the coast, stunning day.
Pic: Fenit short time ago.
Stunning morning in Galway, really warm out. Roasting in a T-shirt!
Shannon Airport 18°c at midday.
Mount Dillon 19 degrees at 2pm
Beautiful day in Galway. Played 12 holes in shorts and a t-shirt for the first time this year.
What a gorgeous day to end March. I'm not sure we'll see too many like it.
lovely evening near Arklow also
Cloudy end to March in Sligo and rain of 70.8mm in the end. Cleared there as it got dark. Will likely be sunnier tomorrow but a lot of hazy cloud will make sun milky. The next day will be sunnier. The slower it comes the better coz the quicker it comes the quicker it will end but currently no huge rainfall at all til mid April at least.
So all in April could be the best month since June 2023 here although obviously not as warm. Also been very dry this year even in the wet Northwest where the wet days have been frequent but the volume low.
January of course was quite wet but February 120mm and March 71mm had most of their rains in a couple of weeks.
