Man Vs ManUre until 9/05/23
Two changes before game were wrong . Mchale and neary creative and attacking threat . Unlucky but also stupid mistakes and wides , which nearly always happens to us in finals in croker . But far from over !
Kerrys superior kickpassing is once again showing up inadequacies in Mayo coaching systems. We are attacking slower because we can't kick long and accurate.
McLoughlin the main culprit with misplaced passes. Hasn't the skillset for playing the top teams.
Absolutely ridiculous Take the handy point They are well beatable We are beating ourselves with stupidity
And having a player who can’t can’t play football starting again
Bad mistake from Reape for the goal, absolutely braindead stuff. Mclaughlin poor as well, was directly responsible for at least 2 points.
Kerry's getting the ball inside much much quicker than us, we're a hard watch in this form
Massive 2nd half needed to even stay competitive
Lucky not to be loosing by less. Kickouts poor and getting cleaned in midfield.
Kerry’s quick attacking is in stark contrast to Mayo’s laborious approach.
Thought the defence been excellent at times but your not going to win many matches without a midfield and when you keep passing to the opposition every time you have a promising attack.
is this kit new? Don’t remember seeing it before
Shocking error by Reape kicking a short ball to a Mayo fullback and 2 Kerrymen. Mayo were doing well up to that.
Andy Moran getting great praise for his work with Monaghan. Lot's on here were not in favour of him getting a role in the Mayo setup last year.
Mayo ladies relegated, well beaten by Waterford

Durkan possibly back for Sligo game
Conroy soon after
Brilliant news
Can't see that half forward line starting, not enough fielding ability in it. I would expect Kelly or McLaughlin to come into the HB line at the expense of McHale or Neary (with Carney into the HF line and Coen or Callinan in Mf)
Darren is the name that really stands out there alright. Looks like a strong team otherwise.
That's a strong line out. Great to see Neary back as Croke Park should suit his pace and he now has a bit of experience under his belt since the first Dublin game.
Full back line may be tested. Still lacking a bit of height back there. Expecting a big performances from Callinan and McBrien on the fast Croker surface.
I hope Darren McHale proves me wrong as he hasn't shown himself to be anything like an intercounty No. 11 so far.
Mayo Senior Football Team is as Follows:
Will be interesting to see how McHugh (and the team in general) handles Clifford on Sunday. If we don't gain the upper hand at MF, he's going to be under pressure. With that in mind, I'd say we'll start with a lot of height on Sunday.
I'm surprised that we didn't try either of the sub keepers during the league; if Reape gets injured, who's going to step in? I think one of them should have gotten 2-3 starts anyway
Decent seats for Sunday released on Ticketmaster earlier. Got a Cusack 306 just now.
For those travelling up to Dublin on Sunday, please be aware there is a charity tractor run in Strokestown around midday that may cause some holdups. The run is due to commence from the town centre from 12:30pm out the N5, turning off at Scramogue. Traffic management will be in place for through traffic to minimise any disruption, but please allow a little additional travel time if you are passing through then.
Funny the way we see it differently. I would have said that in general the forwards were impressive and did a good job of getting us back into the game after we had let ourselves down defensively... Their 3 goals (and scores around them) came at important times and when we were generally on top, putting us on the back foot. I thought the forwards showed great composure to keep chipping away to get us the win.
Missed that... Proud father? :)
I got a mention too :p
I thought there was a 20 minute period before half time where Mayo were cleaning up at midfield. Should have been much further ahead at the break and we ended up having to dig it out at the end. A lot of sloppy high passes and lack of killer instinct for that goal chance you mentioned. Possibly overcarrying the ball at times and by the time the pass was given the receiver was tackled and dispossessed.
Plenty to build on. The talent seems to be there. It's just more discipline needed to give more accurate passes earlier.
Yeah Galway should have been given chance to take last free.
Some great fielding from them. Surprised you thought they were wasteful, I actually thought the opposite and was impressed with the forwards. Hurley and Burns came up with two huge two pointers in the second half. I did think they could have been more clinical with their goal chances. There was a great chance for a goal in the first half but they opted for a fisted point and they messed up the goal chance at the very end… very fortunate to get the penalty I thought.
I don't think the Galway camp was too happy with the ref afterwards, surely he had to allow them to take that free from just outside the arch at the very end to potentially level it.
Very entertaining U20 game surely. Some very impressive ball winners around the centre which is what our senior team is crying out for. Despite the scoreline the forward line will need to improve a lot. So much careless wastage of the huge volume of ball delivered in from out the field.
Nice win for the u20s against Galway earlier. Very entertaining game to watch.
Haha, nothing wrong with that hearing. (A few numbers on panel usage spammed over at: https://x.com/TsuDhoNim/status/1904235886780260700 )
to be fair to TsuDoNimh his stats are pretty excellent.
Connacht Championship tickets on sale today.
$30 New York match
£25 (€27) London match
€30 Mayo match
Bit of a fiasco yet again with the New York match tickets, scammers are even onto it already.
Were my ears playing tricks or did you get a special mention on the Ah Ref podcast as the man for stats @TsuDhoNimh?
It'll be interesting to see if Neary can force a starting spot for himself come the championship. He had a great league for a young guy new to the set-up but I think he'll probably be coming off the bench, and no harm in that at this stage for him. If Diarmuid gets back fit (for championship) then I think we'll be looking at the the same forwards vs Donegal with Diarmuid in for McHale.
Starting to look forward to Sunday now and in particular how McHugh can measure up to Clifford. Thought he did as good as a job as you can do on Clifford in the recent match, but I don't think Clifford was fully firing at that stage.
