With 6 children, I'd rather stay milking the dribblers all year
Is it the cost of the holiday if you need to bring 6 children or just having 6 children.
Auction for the Big farm next to Stan on today at 3pm... unfortunately not online
Congrats Stan. Money well spent.
Anyone have an Atlantic water heater? Can they be adjusted to heat water to 40C instead of 80C?
Or is it as simple as just putting it on a timer and cutting it off after half the usual time?
Why do you want it at 40?
30k an acre
-&26k it went to private negotiations
Yes. We have one out in the calf shed and set for 40 degrees for milk replacer
Thanks - that’s the scenario i had in mind @whelan2
It's a stat you want, Not a timer
good man stan best of luck with the negotiations ……I thought a plot of land down here tgat made 20 k/acre before Christmas was mad
Take of the bottom cover and just turn it down.
AnAnything with moving parts requires maintenance. Add to that four time a day it will be full on one side and empty on the other on a 40 unit it means there is 11-12 ton on o e side and nothing on the other
2 litres of centra own brand milk 2.85, 3 litres €4.15. Local shop sells 2 litres of strathroy milk for €2.45. Some difference.
have you never seen a rotary ?? 😂😂
I don't think Strathroy are doing farmers any favours there.
That "private negotations" after the auction is some scam. It's not enough to be the highest bidder on the day, they have to try to screw you for more.
Absolutely 💯 stratroy are becoming a bit of a problem for farmers to achieve any type of a proper return on their work....the one saving grace is there not ndc approved and there not big enough to really disrupt things
Only if you partcipate.at every stage you have to make decisions along the process.if you participate in that process then they were correct and right to under take "private negotations"its like bidding on a calf,no use complaining that the calf was dear if you were bidding on them.dont worry I fully appreciate the land next door concept and the pressure it applies, only last April we went through it but every day since I have been more than happy with my decision.maybe that will change in time to come but it was even more expensive than stans land.another way of looking at thing s is look how much stans own place went up in value yesterday
Potential wallop that's going to torpedo the Irish economy next week could very quickly put paid, to the asset inflation of land, alot of economists are likening it to 2007/2008 the anticiapted hit to the economy...
Crazy thing is agriculture only ever seems to do well on this island whenever the economy is in the toilet
Usually you are correct. But considering the crowd we have, who are addicted to squandering money. I would not trust them. And would fear what scheme they would come up with to squeeze money out of irish workers to keep up their wasteful habits.
You would be hoping that the tarriffs, would not effect jobs and sales, straight away. Unlikely that big corporations would pull the pin in a few days. It takes a while to build factory's and train staff.
did u buy the land Stan?
There's a lot of farmers going well at the moment.
I’m no expert but I can’t see things going south that fast, Trump has less than 4 years left, I’ve had the misfortune of working in the construction of Pharma plants and have seen the planning and expense these plants take, they wouldn’t have a plant up and running by the time that clown is finished his term, Ireland also has a seriously well educated workforce for this sector
We're those plants constructed here or the US?
Would hazard a guess that things happen faster in the test of the world than here. That skilled workforce would likely be offered the option to relocate if the worst happened.
25% tariffs will vastly reduce any corporation tax take going forward, nevermind if us companies relocate back to the States, it also means any plans are frozen at the minute re investment in existing facilities...
Our reliance on a couple of American companies to balance the books here is akin to the hey-day of the celtic tiger and house building

Has anyone cubicles closed off with electric wire? What way do you hang the wire off the cubicle? Was using gates to close them off but I'm short on gates and could do with not lifting gates around the place!
True but we have to rely on something, what else have we to pay the bills
here, I know nothing about construction in America but I do know that any yank on the job here would bring it to a standstill with their rules and BS, the insane H&S came here with them so I don’t really know if they’re any better back in the States or not. I don’t know if anyone in their right mind would relocate to the US
