When I read the article, I thought that it was a physical, irl group.

It's a bunch of diehard McGregor scumbags, posting images. Like Andrew Tate and his cronies. Sitting at laptops or phones and never venturing outside.

People who claim 'all rape victims are lying'. We know there are cases where people lie about being raped, but they are far outnumbered by the real cases. Tate and his croniies flip the stats.

But unfortunately, I don't think Nikita will ever get her life back. Horrible as it is to say, and just from knowing survivors of rape or sexual abuse, I know that folks don't get their old lives back.

There’s laws in Ireland about that type of online abuse now - anyone based in Ireland who participated in that abuse of her should be sh1tting their pants- I’ve absolutely no doubt this will be raised by her lawyers and reported to the Gardai - stupid people don’t change - they need to be arrested, charged convicted and banged up

Deviating slightly off-topic (sorry mods) but what exactly is it that makes some men look up to the misogynistic behaviour and actions from the likes of mcg or tate? I wouldn't assume they are stupid so what exactly do these men latch onto?

I don’t think they are necessarily latching on to McG because of who he is- I think it’s more about what he stands for - I imagine the demographic that are supporting him so vehemently online are the same demographic that are anti-vaxers, or conspiracy theorists or simply racists - you’re theorising that there’s some sort of philosophy under pining their support - I don’t think there is - anyone who’s in the public eye that are anti societal norms of behaving - will certainly attract a marginalised crowd of online uneducated whacko supporters who just want to “fit in” somewhere in society because in the real world, they’ve failed to do that -

I don’t think it’s any more complicated than that. These people don’t have the same moral compass or adherence to societal norms as most of the population do - there’s likely a top 10 of issues that all of these people agree on, as they’re simply swallowing the online sh01te that’s been fed to them- - these people have turned to the internet to feel part of a group and belongingness that they don’t experience in the real world

Lack of a father figure, or lack of a decent male role model, so they look at the male figures who's had success, and commands money and/or respect from a clique or group of people.

Quite a lot of the time, creepy figure says something they agree with that may be reasonable, and then slowly but surely they get sucked in. Their life may not be going well either, and they want someone or something to blame.

Sort of similar to how folks get involved in racist groups. Or extreme left wing or extreme right wing groups. Easier to blame something or someone rather than look at one's own actions.

There's an intersting RTE podcast from the "Doc on One" series about incel culture in Ireland. Worth a listen.

Apologies. Off topic but Conor related. Can not understand why he continues to get free pass on his obnoxious behaviour, both on line and on street.

DPP have decided NOT to charge Conor McGregor over Dublin riots, gardai confirm

I'm no fan of McGregor's. I think he's scum but trying to blame him for the riots was ridiculous. And what he tweeted, to me at least, seemed tame enough and not something that you should be hauled before the courts for.

Tweeting 'Ireland, we are at war'. Hardly a crime there.

The other stuff he tweeted was fairly tame too……. "Make change or make way. Ireland for the victory", "You reap what you sow".

He is an ar5ehole, but if the authorities are going after him, at least do it for something criminal, unlike those stupid posts.

Seriously, if those are crimes, we might as well give up.

It wasn't that he was to blame for the riots - they were looking into whether he was inciting violence thereby encouraging others to go out and commit it.

Tis a stretch to say those incited anything apart from boredom.

I didn't say they did but AGS were investigating to see if his tweets met the threshold and when they decided that they must have, they sent the details on to the DPP.

I can see why tweeting "we are at war" to your millions of followers whilst scumbags burn buses, Luases and Garda cars can be seen an incendiary.

This is a fella who has been in the news for over a week now due to something he said in The White House. It's not out of the question to think his words have influence.

It would have been embarrassing to pursue him over the riots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,824 ✭✭✭randd1

Isn't tomorrow Day 12 that he threatened the government with?

I wonder what's in store for us written on White House paper?

Will it be a demand to beat Canada to it and have Ireland become the 51st state? Will it be a demand to install Conor McGregor as Irish president with absolute power? Will it come with a demand to remove all legal obstacles to persons entering the country from Colombia/Bolivia? Is it a law to legalize beating up men in their70's and sexually assaulting women with no consequence? Will it be to replace the harp as the national symbol with the swastika but with hurleys as the arms of the swastika to keep it "Irish"?

Or was he coked out of his skull when he sent out that tweet and didn't know what he was doing?

Tomorrow will tell all. I await with great anticipation.

He only picked 12 as it links in with his whiskey brand. Clown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,370 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

...and it's not even his whiskey now. Proximo bought it in 2021, but have dropped any brand association with McGregor. I'd say they have a severe case of buyers regret now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,651 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

They knew this before they bought the brand. He just hadn't been in court yet. It was the second highest seller in Irish whiskey in the US. They don't seem to care much in the US about him being a rapist. So probably hasn't affected the brand too much.

They just voted in trump who was also found to be a rapist so I doubt they mind buying whiskey from one

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

McGregor is non too happy with his new Best Friend, and his solution is for "his country" to leave EU and charge US 10% TARIFFS

Too many head blows and marching powder .....

McGregor turns on new best pal as he calls Trump’s 20pc tariff an ‘abomination’

Ireland will separate here and we will charge 10% on Irish goods to the US and the US will charge 10% to us also.

McG proves he doesn't have a clue how tariffs work…

    No surprise there.

He also questioned whether any child born with autism had ever been borh with it having not been vaccinated, or their parents vaccinated.

It's clear he's going for a particular kind of voter……… one who isn't registered to vote!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,067 ✭✭✭McFly85

Ah yes, leave the most successful trading bloc in the world to and start our trading agreements from scratch with zero leverage while also losing access to the single market(and all the companies based here for access to it), all to placate a reactionary madman who might just decide to double the tariffs anyway.

    Solid plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,002 ✭✭✭celt262

That dope thinks we do charge 40% tarriffs to the Americans and if we leave the EU we will only be charged 10% the same as the brits.. It's all part of the game and its possible that Trump thinks that McGregor is popular in Ireland and will get elected President so he can use him as a puppet to help him break up the EU.

I don't think McGregor can possibly be that stupid but plenty of his followers are and they are lapping up this stuff.

Hes going to keep throwing out these idiotic statements, claim he's being barred from running for president and probably start a podcast to bring in money.

He’s clearly trying to imitate MAGA and he’s doing a terrible job at it (as Trump might say😀)

Will hitting a tornado with nuclear weapons change its course? Will drinking detergent protect you from Covid?

    Probably

Will drinking detergent protect you from Covid?

Yes if you drink enough of it, because then you'd be dead and so couldn't catch Covid…
