Complex discovered under the great Pyramids

It has been reported that a team from two universities using a new scanning device have found what appears to be deep well like structures under the great pyramids. Not only that but they are 2kms deep and have coils (or curved stairways) around them! They say that they have more to come on this. What is going on? Will it be kept under wraps by historians and Egyptian authorities?

Egyptian scholars and historians have written for decades that the pyramids were tombs built with mundane tools. If true, the Egyptians wouldn't have had the technology to go 2km deep.

That can only be done with advanced technology. Who in the Egyptian circle of research wants to admit that history is a lie?

These researchers will have to battle the naysayers and people who call them frauds.

theres not some closed circle of individuals who would have something to "admit".

the way you're thinking is bizarre. it doesnt apply to any other field of study.

if someone discovers a breakthrough or false supposition in any field they quickly publicise it and claim it.

its not like there are 10 egyptian historians huddled in a room thinking 'if this gets out then some researchers i have no personal connection with will look like fools'.

if an engineer or biologist or mathmatician or what have you finds some quirk in engineering s/he doesnt think 'sht this might ruin someone elses career'.

why would an historian be any different.

It has never worked the way you claim. There are vested interests in keeping things the same as they are. There might be a change in this soon.There will have to be some digging done to be able to prove this.

theres no vested interest that is stopping the current egyptian govt from raking in many billions in new tourism revenue that would come from such a discovery.

if industry suspects something is really there they'll pull every string imaginable.

The claim of detecting two kilometers of tunnels is pretty clearly a lie. Similar tech is used to find bodies. They have to dig as part of the process cause the range is so limited.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge in GPR knows that it cannot reliably work beyond 100ft (30 meters) max.

These guys suggesting structures at 600 meters based on GPR are just pulling things out of thin air.

And as for the suggestion above of the Egyptians going 2km into the earth, the average temperature at that level would be about 80 degrees Celsius.... So anyone hanging around down there for a prolonged period of time would find themselves slowly being cooked to death.

There most likely are structures under the pyramids, but we're talking 10s of meters here, not hundreds.

This morning I had the opportunity to look over this news story , it was not ground radar that was used, but rather a new technique called synthetic aperture radar Doppler tomography, which uses satellite technology in order to map underground structures into 3D models.

This team mapped the inside of a well known mountain in Italy very deep down , this method has also been used to map other structures, such as a dam in Mosul, Iraq, as well as mapping other features on the earth that are not weird and unusual.

As far as the accuracy of the technology is concerned, based on what I have been able to gather, it appears to be quite successful at the moment. Several projects have been successfully completed with the same technology by the group involved.

It is believed that there are completely new structures under the Giza plateau 2km underground if not more. The archaeological science is one of the factors contributing to the breakdown of the control system, which I raised in another thread of the forum.

It isn't clear who will grant them permission to dig because Egyptians could be opposed to this because of their cultural and historical heritage. Either way, it's an interesting news.

Firstly Doppler tomography can't go to that depth, you're still only gonna manage to go down a few meters. Secondly the actual research using SAR Doppler tomography, there simply appears to be no proof it actually occurred. They intentionally didn't get peer reviewed so nothing about the study was ever validated. Why exactly would they not want such important research to be validated?

The idea that everyone can become a doppler expert overnight is unrealistic. There is no harm in waiting and seeing whether this technology reveals anything of significance if it does. As a general rule, all research inputs are biased until others prove otherwise.

The structures remain in place, and if you want to debunk this, you can simply drop a high resolution underground camera into a small hole and observe it from the side. Having Doppler data would enable experts to establish the correct investigation area.

There is no need to create a large opening since, if the structures are as big as suggested, a camera should be able to see them from a minimal depth if the structures are this large.

Rather than both parties arguing on the internet that the doppler cannot do what this group of scientists are proposing, we end up having no progress at all.

The study was done 3 years ago so it's not as if this some recent claim, why did they avoid getting peer review? In terms of the technology, there's by default technical limitations of any technology but this study claims to have done something it's not capable of doing....

Unfortunate but their release was in Italian. They actually provided some evidence for their theory because in a 2022 study they claimed there were hidden chambers with the scans. In a recent study, not done by them using a different scanning method, a new chamber was discovered within the great pyramid that matches exactly the results in 2022.

My guess is they sat on this paper until more came out to verify their findings in the 2022 study.

To debunk claims that their technology couldn't map such depths, the team conducted tests, including a scan of the Gran Sasso in Italy. This site houses the largest underground physics laboratory globally, located 1400 meters underground. They produced accurate scans of the tunnel system at a depth of 1400 meters, which aligns with the claims made in their study. They provided additional examples to support their findings. This team is either misleading the public with fabricated data or presenting legitimate data to strengthen their case before going public.

I am not an expert in this area, but I like the way they approached it here. I believe it is a good idea to use the technique elsewhere in order to verify the results. This is the team's responsibility to continue to verify the results they have found. This is very good science on the fact that they showed a hidden chamber system that was undiscovered in 2022 and was only discovered recently by another team of scientists.

Why would CNN, Reuters etc report on unsubstantiated claims of tunnels under the pyramids?

Even if the science is good, they still haven't proven anything until they do physical investigations on the site. Which may never happen because of the authorities involved and the sensitive nature of the site.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the country of Egypt, Egyptologists and Archaeologists joined with the two individuals who discovered this potentially mammoth discovery and work together to see if their claims are valid and get to the truth here.

Of course the two individuals will instead be accused of pseudo science and ridiculed every step of the way.

Folks - there’s a load of pseudo science channels on you tube peddling rubbishy stories about advanced tech/ufos/whatever yer having yerself in ancient Egypt.

I fell down that rabbit hole a few years ago during covid. 99.99% of it is cobblers and easily refuted.

My strong advice is stick with the reputable academics from reputable mainstream universities/institutions - not the “ancient aliens and unsolved mysteries” merchants.

Metabunk is not an authority on world events and conspiracy theories. Their writings are opinions, not facts.

I guess can be labeled as "woo" due to the lack of an official explanation for structures under the pyramid base. However, this does mean its alien. Team highlights unusual formations revealed in scan images. It is unknown what the formations are or what their purpose is.

Rather foolish to dismiss this, I think. Considering that they discovered a previously unknown pyramid chamber in 2022, but it was only detected recently by a completely different research team

Then it is reasonable to assume that this technology has some basis in reality. The process of science is not decided by being closed-minded. You have to investigate the hypothesis and if there is no evidence, you can discard it
