I think the money taken from his account was all he had in the account (approx 40k). It's not that the fines were reduced, it's just that that's the most money they could currently get out of him.
Presumably his fortnightly teaching salary - which, ridiculously, he's still receiving because his unfair dismissal appeal (or whatever it's called) has yet to take place - will go directly to the court appointed Receiver from now on. Starting on Thursday.

I thought there was a general principle that outstanding fines would be taken from any 'excess' funds available after normal living expenses were paid - that they wouldn't basically leave you to starve on the streets.
I've no huge problem with them making an exception to this in the Burke's case, but I wonder was there any discussion at all about funds for basic living?

Didn't Ireland bring in hate laws? Can what he's doing not be seen as that and can it go down that direction legally? To try him on hate laws. Because what he is doing is hate on transgender people. He has consistently twisted his current legal battle on the injections and fines and brought everything back to his original grievance. He is demonstrating a long hate against transgender people.
He has no rent or mortgage to pay, no kids to feed, no car to run. How much does he actually need? Nothing stopping him getting another job either (well, theoretically). I said it earlier in the thread that I thought they may leave him some small amount of his salary but take the lump sum. But he'd have to ask for it and we know the chances of that.
I'm sure Enoch wouldn't be shown the door by his family, that they'd be charitable to him. It's not as if he'd scandalize them beyond reason by opening the closet door or summat like that.

Enoch's 'day in court' was not about the money.
It will be interesting to see what's found when they go poking through Enoch's finances. Did he transfer money when he knew it could be taken, was he paying for online ads etc?
Delighted for him. He has no one to blame but himself. Very soon he will be broke and yes I think Enoch Broke as someone else said is a fitting nickname for him now.

The RTE TV coverage was minimal today, just EB & 3 members of the family entering the appeals court building on Chancery St with no conversation or speech at all.
Rte's Web report is here. The judge apparently acted very coolly and continued his summation and verdict while paying no heed to Burke and another unnamed protestor. Not much in the line of publicity for Burke from today's court appearance.
His advert "IRISH GOVT STOLE 40K" is all over X at the moment. I had tell it to fck off 4 times.

According to the 3 Burkes speaking to the camera outside the court building there's a curse on all those who took over the account and the money. Laughable….
I watched a bit of that video, what stood out to me was that every time someone walked out of the court they made sure the camera picked up their faces. I presume it’s meant to intimidate or something in their heads.
I thought believing in curses was very against Christian rules and possibly even the false gods/idols bit of the Ten Commandments?

They are said to be fundamentalist Christians but I've never seen them do anything remotely Christian. All I see is hatred and an unforgiving lack of compassion. Christian me arse! 🙄
