Finally happened. Wonder will we still get same bargains as UK site??
Seems to depend on what you're buying. e.g. :
ASUS Zenbook DUO UX8406C 14.0" 3K 400nits 120Hz OLED Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, 32GB RAM, 2TB PCi G4 SSD, Dual Screen, Windows 11) Ships with Soft Keyboard : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
@ £2099 = €2510 approx but on the .IE site:
ASUS Zenbook Duo 14 OLED UX8406MA 14.0" 120Hz 3K Dual-OLED Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core Ultra 9-185H, 32 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD, Detachable Keyboard, Windows 11) Intel EVO Certified : Amazon.ie: Electronics
= €2289 But both beaten by .DE
ASUS Zenbook Duo OLED UX8406CA | 14 Inch WUXGA 16:10 OLED Display | 16 GB RAM | 1 TB SSD | Intel Core i9 | Intel Arc | Windows 11 | QWERTZ Keyboard | Inkwell Grey: Amazon.de: Computer & Accessories
= €2099 and Spain
ASUS ZenBook OLED UX8406MA-PZ255W – Laptop 14 Inches 3K 120Hz (Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, ARC Graphics, Windows 11 Home) Tintero Grey – Spanish QWERTY Keyboard : Amazon.es: Computers
= €1957
This is massive difference!
How would they do that? Its been possible to buy from any version of amazon since it was started, the only way to theoretically do it is to block any and all deliveries to Irish addresses unless using amazon.ie which would be an insane move and would just piss people off instead of make them use it.
They appear to be different models though, e.g. the CPU.
Indeed.. in order to probably compare, you need to retain the ASIN..
UK = £1649 / ~ €2000
IE = €2289
A Sale starts at midnight tonight check out the price comparison of IE Vs UK
Anyone else finding that items are being charged for, then a few days later cancelled and refunded?
It's really annoying. Seems like a lot of .de suppliers are not actually shipping to .ie but are listed anyway…
I think Amazon just added sellers to the .IE site without actually letting them know. I had a couple of items the same and orders from the 21st showing the below on tracking.
Friday, 21 March Package left the courier facility
Yeah, I've one item that's showing as 'left courier facility' and has a DHL tracking number which is not showing up anywhere in DHL.
I don't think it was sent, or was sent with the wrong payment as a domestic package or something.
Edit: The other odd one was when I reviewed a product, giving it a positive review - five stars etc, and writing nothing at all unpleasant about it - just described it and said it was great and it was rejected for breech of community standards?!?
Never had that happen before.
I get the impression it's a complete mess of a launch tbh. Very underwhelmed and the prices aren't very competitive. Just all seems very halfassed.
when you order an Amazon specific product from amazon.ie, will the item more than likely be shipped from the Amazon warehouse in Ireland?
If it's a one-day or two-day delivery the chances are very high that it comes from Dublin.
If it's any other day forecasted the chances are hight it comes from the UK, Germany, Italy, France or Spain (kid you not, my order got split into multiples from all of those countries) and not a single item from Dublin.
I write a lot of reviews and have had quite a few rejected. It just depends who is reviewing and their interpretation of the rules. Some don't have a clue. Classic example is the review isn't supposed to contain anything about the Amazon packing, but if I've had reviews rejected for saying that the item comes in retail packaging or none retail packaging.
If the DHL tracking number is ending in DE rather than a short 7-11 digit number tracking, try
Sendungsverfolgung für Briefe und Pakete | Deutsche Post
It should show up as soon as it hits the first real parcel center and make it's way to the export parcel center, will be in Ireland in approx 7-10 days.
If the DHL tracking number is for DHL express (which I don't think Amazon is using at this time) than it should be there immediately as "label printed" on https://www.dhl.com/ie-en/home/tracking.html .
I noticed a pattern for my orders.
If the description shows pictures with foreign markings (i.e. German, Italian or Spanish) the goods are shipped from that fulfillment center.
Seems to me .ie is actually a horrible half thought to promote some things they actually have in the Dublin Fulfillment center (one day or two-day shipping items) and the rest is substituted by grabbing things that allow foreign shipping from other Fulfillment Centers across Europe with those details (also shown by the majority of reviews being from that country).
Swapping back to co.uk for as long as they allow it might be a good idea to get regular shippment times rather than this UPS/DHL/AnPost mix with delivery dates out to weeks.
Ordered 4 items that was very reasonably priced and cheaper on .ie would have worked out couple of € more on UK and DE. Placed order Thursday and were due to arrive tomorrow. Free postage and the €10 off over 50 and just got the email to say it's been delivered. So no complaints first time around.
Yet ordered from Italy on ebay Thursday night and also arrived today.
Just like everything else shop around if it's something your not in a hurry for.
Is the ten euro off gone? I could see it on my account when I first switched but can't see it there anymore.
Still there until 31st I think… just use WELCOME10 when €50 upwards of eligible items fulfilled by Amazon IE in your checkout. Not used mine yet either.
WELCOME10
Amazon.ie - usual muppetry.
No Prime but I make an order of around €60 all shipped and sold by Amazon.
Order shows €3.99 Postage & Packing added and then €3.99 Promotion Applied to remove the Postage and Packing charge.
ffs The €3.99 Postage & Packing shouldn't have been applied in the first place and Amazon aren't doing me a favour removing something that shouldn't have been charged for.
I know I'm not out of pocket but I don't like Amazon pretending to give me something for free when they aren't.
I used mine for the power bank and the novelty of getting knives/blade tools and batteries.
But my searching for restricted items found more stuff, so I might try get the offer on my OHs account too :D
@The Continental Op I could be wrong but it has been brought up before. Charging for something and then removing the charge is done, for TAX receipt (or VAT) purposes. You personally may not be paying it, but it is still a cost!
No there is no cost because orders (supplied and fulfilled by Amazon) over €25 are free.
They've free postage because of a promotion that gives free postage on orders over €25. It's perfectly standard stuff.
But its free postage over €25 anyway so why the €3.99 Postage and Packing charge on a €60 order?
Edit> Its refunded as a Promotion but it shouldn't be there in the first place.
Amazon.ie must feel like being in a Picasso painting, all over the place.
It’s making my head spin, the food section is wild, the translations incredible.
@The Continental Op It maybe of no cost to the person ordering! But as far I am aware amazon still has to pay for the postage (or are you trying to say they also get free postage out!). For TAX/VAT it needs to be included. Plus the vat is charged on (item cost + postage + handling fees etc). And then the promotion is reduced after vat has been calculated. Check your invoice.
The above has previously been discussed in other amazon threads!
Just make an order without .ie Prime.
Example of an order I made for items from Amazon.ie, sold and fulfilled by Amazon:
Items:
Postage & Packing:
Total:
Promotion Applied:
Order Total:
There is no Postage and Packing for orders over €25 so explain that.
Currently there is an offer of free Postage and Packing on all orders so Amazon are adding P&P to all orders even ones that have free P&P, just so they can then take it off again.
Example of an order under €25 that would normally be charged for P&P
Here the Promotion (on first purchase?) has been applied correctly. In my first example its just Amazon muppetry!
What's the difference between the two examples that makes the first muppetry and the second correct?
In the first Amazon have a promotion of free shipping on orders over €25 and in the second they have a promotion of free shipping on first order. Both are promotions and both are shown by adding on the p&p and removing the value of the promotion.
Vat/Tax is charged on the 'total price' and not the 'Order Total' look at your invoice and calculate it!
I couldn't find it due to boards search but it has been raised before. And page links are broken for googling!
For tax even without the customer not been charged for postage, it still gets calculated for TAX propose!
Amazon is still charged for postage, even when offering it free to customers!
Two promotions correctly shown. I just don't get your issue with this.
Well you get the €3.99 free, but it still costs Amazon something they have to pay to whoever they use, so revenue needs to know about it, the fact that they give you a discount if fine, but internaly they still have a cost. Free is not Free for them, it's Free for you.
This is normal behavior, and you don't need to care, you pay the same as if this line items would not be there.
