I think I’d pass - there’s plenty out there.
On the one hand it’s a lot of water to come off a cable (it should be a few drops - and on the other hand how could they say they’ve not noticed it - they’d be taking out the cable a lot surely
it was the granny cable that was in this storage area. Seems they only ever use the tethered home charger and don’t seem to use the granny cable much. But then how does it get wet 🙃
exactly - that wet is getting in somewhere - it’s a pass for me anyway, just cause there’s so much choice out there
this is it. The first aid kit was saturated and in general did not look great…….as in just having a pool of water in the first place is not a good vibe. Surprisingly there was no obvious smell.
I’m guessing the seller will have that first aid kit sitting in the hot press and a few old towels in the boot to prep for the next viewing.
along with an extension lead out the front door and a hair dryer :)
I am not so sure on this 😂😂
I did a Cork-Dublin return in the GTX Performance Plus and its a trip I've done many times on the ID.3 1st Edition so I said I'd write up a comparison
Here is my ID.3 1st Edition figures from a few years back
Winter: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/115678933/#Comment_115678933
Summer: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/117730585/#Comment_117730585
For the GTX PP it was the following for winter temps…
Conditions:
Temp: 9°C
HVAC at 19°C
Weather: Dry
Speed: 125km/h (Dash readout)
ACC all the way
As before, I stopped at Ionity Kill North on the way up. Consumption was 21kWh/100km.
Charged for 19mins and took on 35kWh which was enough to complete my journey around Dublin (Blanchardstown area) and get back home with no additional stops.
FYI: "Plug and Charge" worked fine as usual. No apps or fobs or tapping…. just plugged it in and the charging started like it does for Tesla's. Great to see the extra chargers at Ionity Kill. Its a Tesla supercharger like experience.
Trip home consumption was marginally better at 20kWh/100km
As per my other links above for 1st Edition, the comparison between GTX PP vs 1st Edition is almost the same for efficiency. GTX is marginally better.
The reason I post this is that there was some talk of the new motor being more efficient, and maybe it is, but its counteracted by the fact the car is heavier, due to larger battery, and its running 20" wheels so it all evens out to be much the same really in terms of efficiency but the car has more range of course (about 100km more than the 1st Edition at motorway speed).
Some other notes… the battery preconditioning before charging was good. VW give you full control over that. It tells you what speed you will get if you plug in now and how long you need to precondition before you can get full speed, so you can just turn it on at the appropriate time. Worked fine. It think it works automatically too if you navigate to a charger but I havent tried that yet. I like the manual control and the figures it gives you so you know what you will actually get.
It was still pulling 90-100kW at 80% when I plugged out and averaged 110kW for the 19mins. It would have been higher if I plugged in at a lower SoC.
Other than, it was a nice drive…. massage seats an all!
What sort of range are you getting pottering around?
massage seats??
is there an option to change wheels to 19 or 18 on collection?
Its standard on the GTX PP
Its not really a deep massage with ooh'ing and aah'ing! 😂
Its just a gentle rolling up and down your back to keep the circulation going, presumably to make a long drive less tiring on your back.
Not officially in the ordering process anyway. I guess you could negotiate something with the dealer to swap them out with another car but they'd need someone willing to take your 20" wheels then…. so, not really.
DCC
Since I'm typing and looking at the spec sheet above, I am really liking the Dynamic Chassis Control too. I swap quite a lot from motorway driving to s*it rural roads, so being able to adjust that on the fly is brilliant and quite noticeable from hardest-softest.
I havent recorded that but its obviously better than the figures I've posted above for motorway. I'll come back with some figures in a week or so but the issue with pottering about is that the figures will vary alot for everyone. Lots of short journeys will be skewed if there is alot of cabin heating involved…. but i'll post something as a reference.
missed the massage seats from the specs. like it even more now. its nr 1 on my list at the moment once my pcp on id4 is finished.
If could’ve ordered mine to look like an ordinary-spec ID.3 (no “sporty” body trim or red accents/stitching, smaller wheels) I would’ve.
am I correct to assume that 20kwh/100km efficiency from a 79kw battery is 395km motorway driving for a 100-0 drive?
How does plug and charge work? Sounds good.
It installs a certificate on the car for the charging billing account so that when you connect a compatible charge point it authenticates with that and bills to that account - no app, fob, or card needed. Currently only Ionity in Ireland supports it but its very handy. You set it up through the VW car app and can use VW We Charge or another third-party plug & charge provider. I'm using it with Octopus Electroverse which is cheaper than VW. They give you the steps to do it on their site.

That sounds a very handy system.
The way all chargers should be.
I think Fastned have a plug& charge option also.
Bit of a shame it only works with Ionity.
Correct. Just about what your GTi was able to do! I suppose in reality its less because you're not going to drive it to zero.
I'd expect the summer range to be closer to 430km.
Just to clarify for others skim reading… thats all at 120km/h.
It should become more widespread in time as its an international standard, not a proprietary thing to Ionity. Its just that Ionity have adopted it first and the VW cars support it.
super news - we might flip the pcp golf into one of these next time around the merry go round
Ionity is a joint venture between VW Group, BMW, Mercedes, Ford and Hyundai.
In an ideal world there would be a unified handshake between a car and any charger network across Europe, but if XYZ manufacturers invest in Ionity, and others in something else and everything else entirely independent then it will probably never happen.
Did you option the heat pump on your car? I didn't and sometimes i think maybe I should have.
In saying that I've seen reviews saying the vw ones don't make a worthwhile difference. Just a bit concerned as I have one now and the drop off in winter is noticeable regardless.
Hopefully it's not a case of them needing hardware added to existing chargers for it to be rolled out.
That's fair good.
Can't remember getting that in our standard ID3 in summertime day-to-day driving with no A/C on. Getting that @ 120km/h with A/C is a massive step up.
Does Park Assist Plus with Distance Control allow you to move the car backwards and forwards without being in it for tight spots?
Was explained to me in this thread that what you mention along with travel assist, auto park (whilst in the car) and arial view when parking is an added option, iq drive. It's not an option on the website configurator so I got the code from the brochure. It's a bit pricey but for me worth it for travel assist in particular.
I didn’t. Not worth it, particularly for our climate.
