According to the info and afair the monthly heating bill is around 450.
Clearly For the small country hotel/wedding venue market. Can't imagine anyone paying that for a private home in Newport. Lovely old pile.
More than likely to be purchased and used commercially, there was an excellent restaurant there before. It's probably a bit small for a (even a small) wedding venue unless serious work was done internally and externally.
Wouldn't completely rule out a private purchase from some mega wealthy fishing fanatic, as it comes with fishing rights and I think it's a prime spot for salmon fishing.
I would Imagine it's because they own the river frontage or something like that. Rights to fish from their own land. Doesn't sound outrageous to me, but I don't know anything about fishing rights!!
I had a joint 30th birthday party in a house about twice the size, nearly 20 years ago. About 200 years old. Over three nights of a cold march weekend, as well as the seven sacks of firewood burned, we used €300 in heating oil heating the place.
It seems they own excl rights for the river itself, from the description:
"Celebrated as a premier fishing centre, Newport House holds exclusive fly-fishing rights to the internationally acclaimed Black Oak River, spanning 8 miles along both banks, as well as to the pristine Lough Beltra West, a breathtaking lake stretching 3 miles by 1 mile. The fishery boast a thriving population of wild Spring Salmon, Grilse and Seatrout, offering an exceptional experience for anglers. The preservation of its wild fish stock adds to the prestige of this house and idyllic location."
On a common theme as the price of the house in Newport, you don't see too many homes breaking the €1.5m mark in Sligo or even close. Not fond of the outside look of the house but the interior and the views from it are beautiful. Love the big picture windows. If I had €1.8m I'd seriously consider it 🤣

stunning house but I do not like the urinals.
Love that.
I've never seen a urinal in a house before 😂
Whats the point of having urinals in your house? So both can go at the same time? 🤨
Lovely views, I'm not that big a fan of the house for some reason…
So people dont piss all over the seat and then a woman has to sit down on it.
i was thinking it might have been some high end airbnb sort of development?
lots of processing has gone into those photos too. some unusual/artificial light effects visible. more than just an estate agent with a cheap digital camera.
And the asking price is now 135K. Crazy
Another 1970's time capsule…
Glenogue, Charleville Road, Tullamore, Co Offaly, R35WT78 is for sale on Daft.ie
Agree, there is a lot I really like about the interior of that house, but the exterior doesn't appeal to me.
Does it need complete modernisation? To me that means replacing all plumbing, electrical, new windows and complete installation of a kitchen. It has been rewired at some point since built judging by the light switches. Windows appear to be double glazed too but wooden frames. Redecoration for sure but I don't think it needs much more done but I see some preferences people would make. Central heating could be piped better and insulation would be good idea for sure. Windows to be changed due to wood frames
I definitely do not like the hand towel rack being located directly next to and below the urinal in that first bathroom. Eurgh.
Maybe they're not hand towels.
In my youth, which is a long, long time ago, in houses with notions but no hand sink in the wc, - it would be in the bathroom (bath and basin) next door - they used hang a small, pristine white, linen towel beside the loo. I did not then, and have never worked out since, what the purpose of this towel was, it never looked in any way used. I don't fancy the direction my imagination takes me so I put it down to 'for posh' and the housewife didn't really know what it was for either. Mind you, at the time the toilet paper was like greaseproof paper, hard and shiney, it would not have done much mopping up.
Hideous bathrooms aside. That looks amazing and I'd it's a bright in real life as in photos would consider if I won the lotto.
I'm nearly positive that was sold about 2 years ago. The guy who owned it built a new house a little closer to Sligo town I think. Actually, no, it wasn't sold according to Prop Price Reg but it was definitely on the market for a good while.
Similar time capsule here, particularly the front room and bathrooms, the balcony still exists just with Windows.

8 bedrooms and 1 kitcehen in that Dublin place. They must need a ticketing system to book the kitchen.
The outside of that house isn’t bad.. but the kitchen and carpets and timbered ceiling ..wow! Red velvet dining chairs are clearly in fashion between that and the foxrock house posted after.
I purchased a house in 2006 that had the same fireplace!
Not a who would but a who did…..live in this house?

And yes I did find this on Reddit and you can feck off if you have a problem with that.
You ok?
Why does that one not know if it's in Belmullet or Deansgrange?
If it's this fireplace
I would be moving the clock to center over the fire and Mrs Choosy would be moving it back to the center of the mantle.
Then the fight would start.
Mrs Choosy would obviously be right! That picture needs centering with the mantle.
