Councillors are not "claiming it for IPAS" either, the holiday village owner offered it for such.
IPAS applicants are not, ever, anywhere, housed in conventional social housing.
Natural Bakery has filled up some of the empty space with fridges full of Butlers Pantry ready meals etc
They are astoundingly expensive, but may suit people with more cash than time.

My god, I never said they were. You are one of the reasons we cannot have mature discussions in this country because you deliberately misrepresent what is being said. You stated that "IPAS applicants are housed in places with catering etc, not houses/apartments." Regardless of what it's called the village in Kippure consists of regular houses, this was the only point that I was making. I only made it as the point you made wasn't entirely accurate in saying that houses/apartments weren't used. The Avon Ri in Blessington has houses built around it, too. These were rented out as regular housing after the crash, and lived in for many years by some tenants but this ended slowly, and they're being used for emergency accommodation now too.

Again I never said it would be used for that purpose you are bringing us down that path again and again, you made an ill-informed comment that houses and apartments are not used for IPAS and then switched or clarified to saying social housing was never used for this purpose and I believe you but I was responding to your original claim. I never asked any questions either I just made the point and you pursued your agenda of making this out to be something it's not!

It makes me sick to the pit of my stomach seeing people gifted brand new social houses when they don't deserve it.
I am from down the country and had to move up this side of the country for a career. Back home, I hear every few months my fellow citizen who's never worked a day in their lives who has popped out kids getting gifted a brand new house.
Meanwhile, I am getting ever closer to my 40's, paying through the nose for run down cramped rent in a shared house as I need about 100k for a deposit for a 2 bed second hand matchbox apartment in Maynooth which I'll never be able to afford as prices are soaring higher than my savings rate.
It's a curse to be average in this country. It's better to be born intelligent enough to become wealthy or just be a waster and leech off the taxpayer all your life.

Fitzgerald close is an absolute disgrace. The councilors and TD's who will be lining up for the photo op when the keys are handed over need to be held to account on the lack of housing for working people. They need to be held to account as to why vulture funds were allowed to buy up large parcels of units that were built not so long ago.
Maynooth is a funny little place. The do gooders are constantly hand wringing about looking after the less fortunate. What they need to realise is people earning less than 100k who are working these days are the less fortunate.
Great to see the announcement that 80% of the house in the new development on the Celbridge road are for social housing.

I've noticed a slight increase in Garda presence in the Maynooth over the last few days. Just more garda cars and vans driving around than usual. Im probably imaging things or maybe someone here knows?

Anyone know when the canal is opening up? And what surface it will be? I tried to get a glimpse and saw a little truck flying along. My bad glimpse of it looked like chips and dust type surface.

The bit from Deey Bridge to Pike Bridge looks like it'll be done before the summer. I'd walk to Deey Bridge (from Leixlip) on a regular basis and it doesn't seem too far from being completed.
Had some fun entertainment yesterday watching 2 Northern Irish sounding builders working on the Mill St improvements having an 'animated' debate with a traffic warden, who'd ticketed their obvious Glas branded work vans, that they'd parked in the spaces in front of Delhi Darber.
Not sure who was right or wrong - I mean its right where they are working, but they are still officially street parking, but tickets were still on an hour later, after warden took some lets sat serious debate
Also linked to above, I'm really liking Sugar Drop (old cafe bon bon). They definitely have their own in house baker doing so lovely treats - Dubai chocolate filled croissant, Moroccan pastries. Nice coffee too, and you get to watch world go by outside.

It's incredibly congested there with the works, not to mention dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. Glas have a huge compound behind the church and they should have parked there.
Noticed their vans in there this morning, not on street.

I'm surprised to hear there are traffic wardens.. the Apache delivery drivers park on the footpath and block most of it, but that doesn't seem to be breaking any rules.
During paid parking hours only, which would not be peak pizza delivery time
Traffic warden is sound enough. Will generally give a warning before ticketing if you are present. 15 minute grace period.
Ive often bumped into them parking with no money and they have given me the wink and nod not to be worrying. A bit of respect goes a long way.
Not to mention the constant parking on the footpath by vans outside the furniture store.
is the golden palace still open? couldn't find barely any info on it online or on justeat etc. or is it only take away no delivery?
Not sure about delivery (though think that's still an option) but definitely still open just on the ground floor of Newtown Inn to the side of the bar
Yea its dreadful though. Its not called a spice box anymore. Its now a salt box. Very limited menu too.
We have started using the new peking in clane. Excellent food. Not exactly conveniemlnt but the quality of all take aways in maynooth including the golden palace and orient has fallen off a cliff.
They're not on just-eat, you can ring the restaurant directly and they still do delivery as far as I know? They don't have a sit-in restaurant anymore (that's a function room in the Newtown Inn now).
