Do you remember any ?
'the only Church you'll ever get me inside is Charlotte!"
We all know Lou Reed's "Satellite of Love" but who remembers this remix?
Played to death on MTV around 2004, you never hear it anymore!
I confess to having heard this a good while before I heard the original. Both great!
Same with me - I was 10 when the remix came out!
Two from around September 2009
That Shakira one was regularly on 98fm the last time I was listening to it.
This was #3 in the UK. NUMBER. THREE.
(And number one in the US where it sold over 3 million copies there alone.)
Twista "Slow Jamz"
2005
She was billed as "The Next Beyonce" pretty much vanished after this song
Early 2002
Released a year after 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' would argue it's a better song, granted it does a borrow a bit from it, pretty much forgotten about.
This one is in the shadow of their cover of Smooth Criminal. Such an 00s American Pie sound.
Bit later in 2012, but I cannot tell you how much I fancied her.
Marina and the Diamonds - Primadonna
I'll see you this, and raise you Love At First Sight:
Legit banger. Haven't heard it in ages and your post reminded me of it.
Rock is mostly my thing, but this is an absolute banger, as the youngsters say…
She's still around, but she was damaged by the whole 'Amerie's copying Beyonce/Beyonce's copying Amerie' debate at the time.
I think it would be handy if posters typed in the names of the artistes and songs as some are not in a position to open the links for various reasons.
"United States of Whatever" by Liam Lynch
I never heard that song before but I quite enjoyed it. It probably helped that it was short!
George Murphy known for his Luke Kelly impression went on to release this pop rock song that got airplay during summer 2007, I've seen him be dismissive about it, but it's not a bad song.
Another one from around the same time.
Paddy Casey - Addicted to Company
I can't believe this has so few views on YouTube, considering some of the absolute dirge with millions of views. Probably their best song…
Marvin Gaye charity cover from 2001
More French Touch, this time it's Mademoiselle with "Do You Love Me?" from 2001. Relatively rare song, I remember Will Leahy playing it on 2FM in the mid-2010s and saying he had trouble trying to find the song!!!
It wasn't on Spotify until September just gone.
Around 2009
Not far off! It was 2008.
From 2001 I think, "Heard It All Before" by Sunshine Anderson. Good tune, how ironic that a lot of younger people may not have heard it before.
Around April 2009
Another 2009
Kandi, "Don't Think I'm Not", from the year 2000. Still got that late-90s R&B sound, sure we were only nominally in the 00s at that point and culturally still in the 90s...
I know it's not strictly 00s but I remember Ian Dempsey playing this a lot in the early 2000s. I was working on the motorway expansion and it just felt like a perfect boom anthem.
One for all you Clubland heads...
Paradise - "See the Light"
Never a chart hit but hugely popular with fans of the likes of Darren Styles, Ultrabeat, Flip & Fill, N-Trance etc.
