Tony Blackburn does a feature on his sunday oldies show on BBC Radio 2 where he plays a new song. he calls it "future gold".
perhaps this is where Will got the idea, although I remember when Will started playing new music was mostly when established / heritage acts brought out a new single.
Modern music should be nowhere near the station. Young people like older music too so that excuse by Will Leahy is absolute nonsense.
Exactly, but Will Leahy would play them fairly regularly. He says it's to appease the kids who might be forced to listen to the show by their parents, but it's definitely the wrong station for them.
How are Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa Gold? I do think Sabrina Carpenter is fantastic but Dus Lipa largely sucks but, they are up and coming/recently made it.

The quality is fine. I bought it when it was released. My issue is that it's NOT a 2 CD set, it's actually a 2 CDR set.
It's misleading to market this release as CD. The discs are well produced but are not silver factory-pressed CDs. Eventually they will stop playing.
I did call it out to Trevor Knight on Facebook and asked him was there an earlier CD pressing and then a subsequent CDR pressing. He confirmed there was only one pressing (CDRs) and offered a refund which I declined. I note that four years later, the set is still marketed as "CD".
Seems to be available here as CD and/or lossless audio. Not near my home system to see what the quality is like.

Yes, that's a good compilation. Think it's the only appearance of In Tua Nua's second single - Take My Hand - on CD. That looks like the longer version that was on the 12". Their unreleased Island album should really have emerged somewhere along the line.
All Is Yellow - no CD appearance at all. That CDR set is probably the best we'll get. Has the 1984 and 1985 versions.

It's ridiculous that for somebody of Madonna's stature, you can't find all the 7" mixes (i.e. the versions played on the radio at the time) on CD. A couple have turned up on compilation CDs like Hits 6 (La Isla Bonita) and 32 Ones On One (True Blue). Reissues of the albums were supposed to start in the last couple of years and I hope that this issue can finally be addressed on these.
RTE Gold play "All is Yellow (Hot Hot Hot) from Auto Da Fe occasionally from a vinyl rip, as well as "November, November". Ronan Collins likes it.
Most of the time it's the 1988 re-recording from New Light Through Old Windows. It's good but I prefer the original 1983 version. On the other hand, the 12" mix from 1988 is better than the 1983 extended version - IMHO.
Paul Ashford One In Every Town - I put that on Discogs. The version on YT seems to be from a turntable that's off-pitch. My rip was up there before - must do it again.
The version of The Business Enterprise on one of those Tom Dunne CDs is a bit ropey. I have Just What The Sucker Wanted on 7", brilliant.
Auto Da Fé released a double disc anthology a few years ago. Great selections and good sound. Unfortunately marketed as a double CD when it was in fact, two CDRs. Single sheet cardboard sleeve. I'd rather have a download.
Would be nice if Cherry Red did a 3CD set of Irish stuff from the 1980s, early 1990s. Blue In Heaven, Les Enfants, In Tua Nua etc….
yes, weird stereo phasing issues at one point in that tune.
Madonna’s Immaculate Collection CD was also initially remastered with something called Q sound so apart from a lot of the tunes not being the original 7 inch versions they can also suffer from mono/stereo compatability issues. The long string intro on Vogue disappears in mono and I’ve heard it trigger silence detectors before 😂
and while we are at it, are all copies of The Cardigans "Lovefool" dodgy sounding just before the last chorus ?
Unfortunately radio stations rely on the 'immaculate collection ' CD , broadcast quality original versions are available if stations could be bothered making the effort.
Qobuz particularly useful for purchasing original tracks.
Madonna's Single versions are a nightmare to find on cd with a few still not on cd.
The Immaculate Collection is an awful hits Collection as most of the songs were remixed for that cd.
