What's the cheapest way to stack GPU these days?
its not as cheap as it was. but pretty much the same way to do it . You buy three years of core and up grade to GPU. the conversion rate is 3:2. I think the conversion is for 3 years of core you get 17/18mths of GPU. you also have to pay for a month of GPU.

I don't have a laptop other than my work one and all gaming sites are auto blocked on that.
Off top of my head (my GPU is still active, so this is from 3 years ago) - you would need to cancel your GPU. Then once it expires, purchase 3 x 12 months worth of core - you can buy gift cards for this or direct from microsoft. Once done, just buy 1 month of GPU and apply that, when you do it'll convert all of your existing core to GPU at whatever the conversion rate is. You can do this on a mobile browser.
If you're feeling brave you could try this by buying the core credit and GPU vouchers from a different country which can be much cheaper again - but you'd need a VPN to apply the credit then.

Ended up getting 20 months of GPU for €161 after I gathered all my various codes. At full price of €18 a month, can't complain too much at all.
How much game pass core was that? My gamepass expires on Sunday so want to know how much game pass core to buy to convert? I thought it's 3 years core to 2 years gpu, no?
The conversion ratio was changed from 3:2 to 2:1 in September when Game Pass for Xbox was changed to Game Pass Standard.

Yeah, you can get 12 months of Core that activates without vpn for about €40. When you add a 1 month Ultimate code you'll get 19 months for about €130-140. Much cheaper than the €18 per month MS look for, the highest prepaid Ultimate sub you can get is 3 months which is €54 in Smyths.

Where can i get the core for 40? Just looking there in the likes of smyths and its 70.
Normally CDKeys, but they've jacked it up to €48 now you can't use a vpn for India subs anymore. Still the cheapest I can find without going to somewhere like Gamivo that tries to trick you into their subscription service(they're about €4 cheaper per code).

I'm doing the whole sign up to core and then convert to gpu thing right now, and decided to take a look at what games are on core. Poor enough fair, not worth the money really...
Grounded is on there and that is one hell of a game. But I suppose not worth it for one game. Core also gives you access to online play so you can play the free to play online games as well.
Did the 3 years of GPC so have GPU until 9th November 2026 for about €160 total. Happy with that.
I went with using my rewards points to get as much core as possible. Ended up getting 26 months (24 months of core, plus they gave me 1 free month for turning on auto renewal, and they randomly did they twice). Bought 1 month gpu from CD keys for €13ish, and now have gpu until June 2026. I'll take it.
Having said that, the way that Microsoft handle applying codes and requesting rewards is painfully slow. I started claiming codes on Monday and it only finally processed last one now.

From reading the thread over on the game in the gaming forum I'm not sure I'd like it due to having to take notes and limited in number of steps you can take plus all the back log of games I have to finish first.
In something like 40 runs, I ran out of steps twice I think, and one of them was just to see what happens.
The notes thing hasn't really kicked in yet, although I have taken a bunch of pictures so far. I could get to the end of the game (at least the primary objective, almost definitely more to do after that) without taking proper notes, but I do now understand the puzzles that will require me to take notes.
I'd say that you could start this game with the intention of taking no notes, and you'll get to the point where I am and want to take notes, it's that good.
Finished the main puzzle last night and that last draft lining up was very satisfying
