Are they going up or down, any quotes yet?
The only time we’d hear about a Phosphate mine would be if it was shutting down. The merchants only broadcast news about reasons to increase the prices.
bought pasture sward this week €500 - 3% s. 18-6-12 + 3% s also €500
But as said above, if indexes are 2 or below then it’s 18’s all the way. if index 3 or above then pasture will do the job.
Got my slurry out on my grazing ground covered today about 2500 gals to the acre would a half bag of urea to the acre give me good covers for grazing hopefully get it put out next week.
depends on the quality of the slurry and what your p k indexes were to start with. Have you soil samples done?
just waiting on the results now to come back but id say the indexes are now between a 2 and heading for a 3 its getting a lot of slurry last few years so the slurry will build the indexes - used urea last year after slurry application in the summer and got a great response just want to know the application rate or if a can of can is better value?
Just to add slurry quality would be good - there is a good bit of meal feed over the winter
well if it worked well last year, I’d be sticking with the same. Soil sample results pending of course
My soil samples are good for pH and P and K.
Would the weather be ok to get 38% Urea with 7% sulphur out?
Giving some rain next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hopefully get it out Saturday or Monday
Is it too early to spread silage ground hoping to get it cut round 20th may ground is bare?
You could go with slurry first if possible or split the application of fertilizer, half now and half in 3 weeks.
I don’t have any slurry where that silage ground is was just going to go with chemical fertilizer. My instinct tells me it’s abit too early but with the good dry weather I don’t want to miss my chance either so nasty cycle if the weather breaks at the end of this month.
absolutely perfect. Get it out quick. I
ideally you would want rain behind it fairly quickly. I have urea here to get out but kind of holding off till there’s sone rain coming. Very dry harsh wind about here
May be ok spreading tomorrow. Friday is giving it wet for us. Dry again after.
I was rolling a poached paddock today where a young bull and cow, tore up a bit. Perfect dry conditions. Corn sowers are flat out.
if there’s a bit of cover of grass it’d be fine.
half the farm grazed and no hectic regrowths yet
covered milk block and silage ground with urea yesterday ….decent dew at night be grand and there ready to rock n roll with higher temps next week
On nitrogen timing, can someone explain if an application of 27N/ac now will wait in the ground for temps to rise in a week's time the same way 27N applied in a week's time (when temps kick off again) will kick off straight away. Or is some nitrogen lost in the low temps until then
No re growths, that's the problem about emptying sheds for me. That harsh wind is an issue. Ground dry but what's the point.
growth is slow granted but early slurry and fertiliser is and has been key as has getting heavy covers grazed off ….good week late march /early April and growth will bimb if grass is well fed …..just have a grazing plan to get to date you plan to start round 2 and stick to it …..and make sure you’ve enough good grub in yard ,that’s what’s killing a lot of lads
525 for 18 6 12 +S
is that ok
510 for 18 5 12 +s nitro fert tirlan
€480 for Silage Elite 21/2/12 plus S
Tirlan bulk
Any price for 10:10:20?
€580 a tonne-small bags in north west
18-6-12+s and pasture sward + s are 520 each
Straight Urea €576 a tonne.
€80 per tonne to spread.
80 per ton to spread seems a bit much
Yea, it is fairly steep, a small fertilizer spreader would pay for itself fairly quick.
I'll be getting one this year.
cut sward €535
18 6 12 €525
10 10 20 €590
Tproblem for contractors is lads getting them to spread a half bag to the acre. Even at a bag it's only 4 euro an acre. At more than 2 bags it would be silly money ok. I heard 45 a tonne for 3 bags locally
