We no longer have cable TV, just broadband now as we don't really watch TV. But we still have a TV set, and we're wondering if "rabbit ears" will work to get Saorview for occasional guests etc.
That link says you have to be in a strong signal area, and we're in the centre of Limerick city. The TV is on the ground floor. Does anyone else have experience of Saorview via rabbit ears in the city?
Well lads and ladies, back in Limerick after a few years away. We went into the Band Parade today, it has been years since I saw it but I thought it was poor. Very slow to come through Henry St. After 5 or 6 bands, people started to disperse as they were getting too cold, kids were getting bored and bands taking up to 10 minutes to come through. The quickest interval between two bands passing was 5 minutes.
Felt like there was less bands this year (by my own amateur count) so there was a longer gap than normal. Some years they are practically on top of each other.
I wonder was it the quick turnaround to the big day that affected it.
As for the cold that's the sky fairies fault for putting Paddy's day in March.
In fairness, the weather was an observation rather than a complaint but it did seem as though they were trying to drag it out due to fewer entries. We left before it was finished as it was hard going standing in the one place with a bored toddler squirming around!
Aboy da kid Welcome back Son LOL Ya they are all prob gone to Dublin. There was always a 2 day gap between Band parade & Paddys day parade. Wait till u see the paddys day parade all commercial now. Not like before.
Thanks pal. Went for a year and forgot to come home for 5 but it is lovely being back in Pigtown again. We are heading in again tomorrow, small person has never seen a parade before so we are looking forward to it!
I don't think it's always a 2 day gap. It depends on what day Paddy's falls. Isn't always the closest weekend day to Paddy's ?
Ya,it was always the closest wkend day to Paddys day. Then they gad time to relax & go dublin as well.
The band parade was always on the Sunday closest to St Patrick's Day.
Lads is Pa's Chipper open this evening ??
don’t think so. I just checked his SnapChat and he said he’s back in the shop tomorrow from 5pm.
Tnx kid, saved me a detour on the way from work so
Anyone else notice the clapped out TfL red double decker bus now being used by Dublin Coach for the 310?
How that company is still operating is beyond me.
Yes I have seen it a few times, if you look at the side of it it certainly looks like a Transport for London logo but yes another used vehicle. It took them a long time to remove the Park n Ride logos from the last buses(I think it was Quikpark Dublin airport), maybe that round logo will take a while before somebody removes it.
its a joke sure, buses are always breaking down. Money Talks sure. even TD's were complaining about them. i say the Drivers dont even have proper licences or even tachographs. Half of the drivers got done for Speeding, drink driving & other things been all over social media and papers.
I was on one last year that said "next stop Terminal 1" on the display.
Same but was more luggage space than seats and woefully inadequate for a city bus
Unless they've more than one red bus the Logo is gone.
Definitely on this one anyway.
It could be on the pax side only.
Must try see if my Oyster card works on it 🤣
whats the story with that new cafe both sides of the road were blocked going into Mungret Park . i can see that causing a crash amazing how they got planning permission for that so close to another entrance .
Haven't been there but it sounds like your problem is with ashole car drivers and not the cafe.
ya it is, but they shouldnt have put an entrance there, cause that was going to be they way once they did, should be like the spill the beans coffee shop down the road people have to walk across to it.
Anybody have recommendations for someone to do built in furniture or units? Quality of work would be more important than price.
We got Furniture Man in Dromkeen to do built in wardrobes and matching chest of drawers. They measured, manufactured, delivered and fitted.
Found him very good for price and quality
Just seeing this now , I am the same BB for most TV , occasionally if WiFi is out or for sports on rte I use an indoor aerial.
It can be a bit finicky downstairs, sometimes I need to move it around the room, works better upstairs.
Worth having as a backup.
Ive been using the cable I pulled from a broken pair of rabbit ears for Saorview reception since the start of it, its very easy to pick up Saorview. The aerial on the tv card in my pc is the size of a pen, again perfect reception.
Folks who would best the best (Genuine) for crash repair/ dents/scrapes removal in Limerick area. Heard about Brownes Cratloe, Slaters. Its a dent/deep long gouge in front door of car, misjudged the corner of the wall when reversing.
Golden Autobody at Larkins Cross. I also scraped my own car on a driveway pillar in 2022. Thought I could fit between other car, I didn't. They sorted it and it was honestly like nothing every occured to the car. I was happy with the price, about twice the price of Slaters but thinking back they did excellent work.
ya few cm clearance didnt realise till i had it done. Was Price average around high hundreds ?? just gauging how much money i will need. you dont care once it is done right but not being screwed over with price either.
