Yeah i think the 6N showed that neither Sam or Jack own that jersey and both need to improve their games. That's great for Ireland though to have that competition and for each to drive the other. It's just a shame that so many fans are so blindly tribal and can't get behind them both.
Ever since those OTB comments we have been utter dogsh*t. A mentally fragile team that will bottle another RWC QF no matter the opponent.
On the subject of the 10's Crowley failed to make any sort of claim to the jersey. His kicking from the tee is sub standard and some of his passing was inaccurate. We have two players that need time on the job.
But 10 is genuinely not a problem area. Or at least it's nowhere near the most pressing concern. There's half a dozen far more glaring issues.
Here fishy fishy. 🤣
Yup.
I think even the most blatantly biased Crowley fan can’t say he had a good game today. He was average, the very same as Prendergast the past few games, he mixed the good with the bad.
But a 10 missing that many kicks is not good no matter how he does elsewhere around the field. He really needs to sort that out to be picked more consistently. We were under more pressure than we needed to be at the end due to them 6 missed points.
Although the Lowe foot that was never in touch should have meant that the missed kicks wouldn’t have mattered.
His defence was appalling today.
I don't think Crowley did enough to get the 10 jersey back. Do we give Frawley a go?
Crowley was decent in open play, fixes the man anyway to create 2 tries. One of which was chalked off by TMO for a phantom knock on. Also we don't have to rejig our defensive line for him. But his place kicking was terrible.
We've 2 decent young 10s. Both with issues.
Crowley's place kicking is poor.
Prendergast doesn't have the physicality for this level yet.
That's where we're at.
It's absolutely brutal. Video refs selective nitpicking. Referees lying to players on the pitch to support their mates and pretending they made the correct decision in order to appease players. We're talking about referees more than ever.
Exactly no need for it.
Totes amazing performance from the goys, they left everything out on the park. Hopefully they will be enjoying their Heino's later after Wales and Scotland do the bizzo.
He had a bad day off the tee today but was very good on field. But to say that he has been very very poor all season is not correct.
we need to boycott these irish sports podcasts, don’t give them any money on Patreon. OTB and Second Captains are atrocious bandwagoners.
Good news is, the issues with both players are fixable. A great battle ahead to get the 10 shirt for RWC 2027.
No
Absolutely not. He is just not a 10. He is a good 23 cover on a 6-2 bench, and that's it.
Frawley has to get past Sam at Leinster 1st for that to happen.
Crowleys kicking off the tee was amateur level stuff.
He has been very poor at goal kicking all season. His record in the URC is shocking. That's what I was saying.
Those OTB clowns need to keep their traps shut and hubris in check. Wake up call for OTB over the last couple of weeks.
Very very disappointing performance today
If Italy won at the end you couldn’t feel sorry for Ireland
Some people here give OTB too much credit here
In fairness neither SP or Crowley has impressed for Ireland so regardless of whether he's behind or ahead of SP he deserves his shot I think.
Jesus you'd swear the three retirees were dying.
Absolute legends of Irish rugby but this long goodbye is mortifying stuff.
I think he is a 10 but being messed around like that, being put in multiple positions, hasn't helped him at all. I'd love to see him in Connacht where he'd be only a no. 10. I think you'd see a much improved 10 if he got that opportunity.
Or.... Stick with the players and help them improve by giving them both time on the pitch. Discarding players for not shooting the lights out week in, week out would be ludicrous.
mortifying is the right word for the bullshit over the 3 lads retiring. On top of all the prattle about Farrell’s man management and creating moments with families etc, it just seems like over indulgent group think when the outcome is grotesquely mediocre performances. Move on ffs.
Ah come on now, those 3 guys have been central to Ireland's most successful ever period in the pro era. All 3 are former Lions too. It's a nice touch for their families and the fans who have supported them over the years and have made big sacrifices for them. It's as much for their families than anyone.
Wind your neck in.
Thry both need a lot of help in different departments of the game. Take them out, get that stuff right and we are in great nick for the future but leave them out until they are ready is my view.
The worst thing that can happen is them playing and eventually losing confidence in themselves.
