I'm so used to seeing them in their collective black "uniforms". I thought there was some notion of dressing in anything else was sinful to them or their God.
Then Amni turns up last night in a tight red dress and now I'm totally confused to their modus operandi!

they seem to dress mainly like Amish. However I would suspect yesterday evenings attire was just an attempt to “blend in”

The bit I noticed on the Burke’s visit to NY.
When they continued the “protest” outside. The Burke’s mother gave a little smile when finishing her rant. As if to say that was a “job well done”. She clearly enjoys her crusade of the righteous more than her sons/daughters or husband.
What the Burke’s are doing is stifling any future adult debate from those who are on the more sensible middle ground on this issue. As anyone who tries to will henceforth be called a “Burke” by certain sides of the debate. And labelled as part of the Burke mindset.
Would you be happy to serve on Enoch's employment tribunal given the family's penchant for publicly harassing anyone they perceive as an enemy?

I've mentioned before that I have personally met members of the Burke family. They were very nice people to interact with.
They are quite unusual in their religiosity but so were many Irish catholics not so long ago. I don't share their ideology nor agree with their methodology of public protest (it exceeds peaceful protest imho).
I also fully disagree with their behaviour towards the courts and towards due processes. Enoch's imprisonment was 100% correct.
But I am against the lampooning of them and the sneering directed towards them. Ideally I would like them to be able to find a forum where they can calmly put forward their points - and where they would likely find a lack of support for their stance. The current status does nothing for anyone other than furthering extreme division and extreme opinions.
I think Enoch may have had a legitimate legal challenge to his "direction" to use preferred pronouns. If it could be proven that the principals email was a direction. It comes down, legally, to a confliction of rights: Burkes right to practice his religion & the students right to be called by their preferred pronouns. I think only one of these is currently protected by law?
There was always a reasonable, practical solution - Enoch to refer to the student (who he never taught) by name only. And for the principal to request staff to refer to the student by name.
"Dear staff, john is changing names to Joan. Please could you use this name, when referring to/speaking with them. Thank you."
But that ship has obviously long sailed.

There is on the wider issue which seems to be lost in the “noise”.
As anyone who even finds it odd to use newly manufactured pronouns etc will be tarred as a Burke. Even if such a person bears no ill will towards any Trans person.
They will be tarred with a Burke moniker now, as well as Transphobic etc etc. Leading to less consensus/understanding.
The Burke’s have really made a meal of things to say the least. Particularly as the Principal was going to be accommodating for Enoch Burke, initially - despite being badgered and harangued.
Prob cos Garda Fisher wasn’t on duty so there was no female Garda to batter. I am sure his assault conviction back home played a hand in it mind you, I doubt they wanted to take their chances of getting arrested and the DC Police learning he has a history of this crap.
The lampooning of them is based on their behaviour. They don't want a reasonable debate. They just want to shout and roar. They bring it on themselves and it seems (to me at least) that it's a deliberate tactic too. I don't think they are hysterical people who are uncontrollable and throw themselves on the ground. It's very much planned.
