Boards Golf Society 2025 (Round 2) - Portumna Golf Club (15th March)

So after an extremely successful first round, we're back on the road to Portumna Golf Course on March 15th.

It's a course I've never played, but have heard very good things about. Ranked 47 in Ireland in the latest rankings, it looks like a fantastic setting for a parkland, and is one I'm really looking forward to. Also has a great website with flyovers for each hole, so check that out for some tips.

Time sheet will open on Monday 3rd March at 7pm
First tee time is 12pm
Price is €40
36 spots available

Make sure you've topped up the balance on Clubnet in advance, as it may fill up pretty quickly as per usual.

I think for the range it is short and you have to provide your own balls and collect them after you are finished. Collecting them sounds like something out of Squid Games!

Course looks great - but can't say I enjoyed the video. I've seen a couple of this YouTuber and he always seems to be confused as to where he's playing to and very bland/monotone in his delivery. That said I also quite dislike Peter finch who is at the opposite end of the scale!

Looking forward to portumna as I've heard great things and it's a new course for me. Weatherwise was just wondering as it's going to be -2° Friday night and not looking likely to be warm, is there a chance it could be cancelled due to frost or the teetimes pushed back?

Should be up around 6-8° or so by the time we're due out, so hopefully shouldn't be a big issue

Really looking forward to tomorrow. Bought a new driver this week (well brand new to me but 2023 model) - had a 2019 Cobra F9 so have upgraded to the Cobra Aerojet. Wasn’t planning on gaming it so soon but had it in the driving range twice this week and I’ve really enjoyed it so going to give it a lash. Fingers crossed 🤞- is there such a thing as a standard “Fore” ahead of time?

Gutted to be missing this to be honest. Portumna has been on my list for a long time now.

Especially afte rmy poor showing in Portmarnock, I would have liked a chance to bounce back. Myself and my missus are meeting our friends for the weekend so I will be golfing in Knightsbrook Resort instead for the weekend.

I might also be caught next month as I have a wedding the night before.

Enjoy the round in Knightsbrook. Maybe a small consolation...both of the courses finish with a nice par 3, so you can imagine you're in portumna 😁

if i take the M7 and go through Birr it looks like there is a proper driving range there. Not ideal but it will break up the drive i guess. I want to go that way anyway to stop at McGuirks in Nass.

Just looking at the map, would anyone coming from the east not be better taking M7 to Nenagh and then N52 thro Borrisokane to Portumna, better roads than through Birr.
