New season so time to open the spring thread.
Will we get an improvement from the previous two stinkers? Time will tell.
A mostly cloudy and dry start in Dublin 13 with any rain spreading southeast fizzling out.
What a lovely day yesterday, went for a spin around west cork and visibility was great! Walking around, the air was actually warm for the first time in a while. Shame it only lasted a day
March 2025 currently warmer than the average April across Ireland but obviously not going to last. The average April is nearly 2 degrees warmer than the average March.
Beautiful sunny morning in Galway but noticeably cooler. The birdsong is beautiful.
Another lovely day here in Meath, I haven't seen a cloud since Saturday, a bit breezy but temperature more or less the same as yesterday.
Castlederg reached 17c on Saturday and Killowen Co Down peaked at 17.2c on Sunday.
It clouded over late yesterday evening here. Sun trying to break through now.
Colder air trickling down later
A frost tonight first across Ulster then further south again by 7am
Colder air well established by 4pm tomorrow
Has this been enforced since the eco-warriors-in-suits got their marching orders in the last election?
I have a pile of branches accumulating beside my giant, South-facing magnifying glass...
I burn twigs every year and I have never seen or heard of any surveillance.
feeling much colder here in Meath this afternoon compared to this morning with a wind that would knife you in two. Becoming more cloudy now as well and a stiff breeze at times, feels about 4C outside.
I think it's more the farmers they're after , for example hedge cutting waste etc. I'm after burning some ivy and waste branches in a pile this morning from one of numerous trees and bushes felled in the big storm. The Dept of Agricultural sent out glossy brochures last year telling farmers to push hedge and tree waste back into the ditch which is impossible. It is law now, but hopefully they will only intervene in large scale burning.
I think you're pretty safe burning branches and twigs in a private back garden . The farmers lands are parcel numbered and surveyed by satellite. Crazy law IMO considering all the bombs being made and exploding all over the world.
AS Gonzo said, different afternoon here in Meath. Brrrr !
Another great day around Tralee after a clear chilly start, sunny blue skies for the most part, hazier leading to more cloud late afternoon, got up to a very respectable 14.9C and currently 8.9C.

Looks a bit like France, with pyrennes on the France/spain border and Germany to East etc
Wonderful morning. Bitterly cold but Sunrise over the Loch was spectacular. Blue skys and Sun.
As for burning? We still have bonfire night locally. Summer Solstice. Burn all your unwanted wood and sticks.
Leitrim
Very cold this morning SCD.
Yes will probably feel much colder tomorrow onwards too. Lovely bright morning though. Looking forward to plenty of walks next few days. Hopefully no dull, grey slate skies anyway.
another lovely morning in Meath, plenty of sun, light wind for once and doesn't feel too chilly. There's a bit of warmth in that sun.
Cracking morning out west. March is delivering for sure after a wet February.
Beautiful sunny bright day in Kerry, bit of nip in the breeze but great to be out when wrapped up.

Anyone else tap on the 2nd weatherboards line and was transported back in time to November/December 2010. Great reading through the posts and Oscar Bravo is still going strong.
Chilly, but beautiful sunset this evening again
fierce cold tonight, just got in. Feels like -1 with the wind chill. Just want spring mildness to come back even if it’s cloudy :(
That's a fairly normal March night. You'd get similar in April and even May. Very early in the season for expecting mildness at night bar a southerly sourced wind.
A flurry of Snow at Cheltenham
Cold in the last hour here in NCD .And dark clouds rolling in.
Just flicked on the heating , brrr.
Amazing moon the last few days and nights. Another bright dry day.
Another lovely dry day. Long may it last.
7mm of rainfall so far in March for Athenry. Average for month is 89mm.
Fantastic spell of weather, loving all the light and seeing Spring take hold, nice few leaves appearing on the trees and the birds busy making nests.
Looks like not as much rainfall overnight/ tomorrow and further days out into next week as previously modeled, the broken patchy rain looks set to clear for most in the afternoon tomorrow, might be some lingering patchy light rain drizzle in places . Might see some sleety rain on higher ground overnight into early morning. Mostly dry for most of the country Sat and Sun, might be a bit damper/ cloudier in places on Mon but amounts look very light. Remaining on the cooler side into next week.
Brilliant spell of spring weather. I wonder will the old saying for March come into play 'in like a lion ,out like a lamb' or in this year's case 'in like a lamb, out like a lion'.
Spain, Portugal and Italy having the floods, while we enjoy spring. But will it flip from one extreme to the next is the question.
It's a super spell of weather. It's amazing how quickly we get used to dry bright weather and being able to do stuff in the evenings. Looking forward to the clock change soon too.
Dublin Airport has received 2.5mm of rain so far this month.
Your so right, it has been an amazing spell, hardly a drop of rain and glorious sunshine. Who cares of its chilly sure it's March.
Just keep your fingers crossed it stays dry for all the parades on Monday.
