Women wearing Irish rugby jerseys to the pub, but yet they wouldn't be caught dead wearing the soccer equivalent if we were in a massive game. You'd be hard pressed to find them in a GAA jersey if their county got to an All-Ireland final either.
Its 100% a status symbol (and they definitely don't just watch rugby for all the muscles).
That family in the Aldi add having a picnic in the car because they don't want to attend a family event.
Loads of them wearing soccer and GAA jerseys in the pub round this way.
I'm been to all the All Ireland Finals with Dublin in them over the last 14/15 years and seen plenty of women from both sets of supporters wearing jerseys.
I think they were referring to woman who consider rugby to be a class above other sports.
Yeah they are the down-to-earth GAA birds.
I'm talking specifically about the women that would wear exclusively a rugby jersey to the bar, but no other form of jersey. Thems are the ones with notions. There is definitely a subset of them out there.
And their male equivalent usually block the view of the telly afterwards when others are watching the soccer or whatever else is on.
It is a matter of male perception, not reality. Men who don't like women with notions.
I find anybody with notions hard to stand.
There's nothing wrong with bettering yourself/making an effort.
However walking around thinking your God's gift for whatever reason.
Especially when you look down on others.
Here's three of them.
Cant stand him.
Is it not completely normal behavior?
So you're ok with girls who only wear GAA jerseys.
And you're ok with girls who only wear soccer jerseys.
But you have a problem with girls who only wear rugby jerseys.
You sound really insecure.
Yeah because the girls who wear the soccer or GAA jersies are in all likelihood genuine supporters of the sports, there is a fakeness to the rugby though.
You are just projecting your own prejudice onto women who wear rugby shirts. And interesting that you only have an issue with women who wear them. Because, of course, every man who wears a rugby shirt is a genuine fan of the game but a woman couldn't possibly be.
Why do you think there’s a fakeness? I know loads of girls who wear rugby jerseys to matches, and to the pub. Some of them would know as much, if not more, about the game than I do.
There's a Ross O'Carroll Kelly episode in this jersey angle for sure…
Yeah why would an exclusively rugby fan wear a soccer jersey 😀
There are more bandwagoners acrosd both genders that follow that than any other popular sport in the country. There might be less of them floating around now after today's loss.
I only differentiated between men and women because it is very common for a lad to wear a jersey in everyday life.
Does wearing a jersey in everyday life mean they must be genuine fans of the game? Is that something only genuine fans do?
Well your hardly going to wear a fooking United, Liverpool or Irish soccer jersey if you don't have an interest in the game are ya?
Interest = fan.
Must we go around in circles, or are you just annoyed someone mentioned rugby in a negative light?
James McAvoy, not sure why, something untrustworthy about him.
It was more the misogyny I had an issue with but you do you.
John Kiely, Limerick manager.
He gave a character reference to an individual, because for him having this GAA 'star' player for a tilt at 5 in a row All Irelands was much more important than the moral issue of kicking a man in the head on the ground repeatedly.
Holly Carpenter and her fame-hungry fiancée nobody whatever his name is. Changing the world with their totally original offering ‘the Paddy’s day dip’!! For anyone who isn’t aware you are encouraged to get into the water this (and every) Paddy’s day and raise money (please donate becos I’m going into the cold water it’s so difficult ☹️ ) and I promise I will give the money to cancer research and not spend it on my next holiday abroad.
I could also count on one hand the amount of Limerick people condemning K Hayes and Kiely.
It's bizarre. How the be all and end all is the success of the county team.
I wonder would all of us from counties that hadn't won much in a while be like that.
They start getting notions.
As a Limerick person I have no time for Hayes after what he done. I think it’s dreadful that he can still be put on a pedestal in spite of his behaviour just because he’s a top GAA star. It’s embarrassing.
Decided to edit post.
We'll go with Una Healy when she talks about her love life.
^^^^ Working in HR…. 😂
Imagine you were called into a disciplinary over something and that was sat there preaching to you….going on about ‘standards’…or ‘behaviour’…
Unfortunately as I call it the ‘GAA mindset’.. when that cohort of those people do something wrong they know they have as illustrated above an army of supporters to praise them and excuse or hide away whatever indiscretion, or many serious ones in this fellas case…. “Ahh sure, lookit, he only xxxxx and ohhhh….his mintil hilth at the time was…” 🤪
