Leaving aside the unsupported casual misogyny above, a quick search will reveal a list of issues with the new Beetle. Here are some examples:
AC Compressors - All Window Regulators - 98 - Whenever they switched to metal window clips. 2.0L Oil Burning - 98 - Early 01 (Apparently) 1.8T Coilpacks - All 1.9L TDI Turbos - When they go you had better know how to stall the engine or your motor is going boom. Automatic Transmissions - All seem to suck and **** the bed early. Waterpumps - All (Metal impeller water pumps are aftermarket, Not OE). Stock Clutches - All. The dual-mass flywheel is a great idea, but is a weak point. Roof Gutters - They love to rust, it's a notorious spot.
There are more, timing chains were a problem too, letting go before the service interval without warning.
well at least we know it's not going to get any more expensive ;-)

Life is bad if you have to drive a 22 year old Daewoo. The price of it too, jesus wept.
I don't know, its a nice colour and seems well presented. Its old and maybe a bit pricey @€1250 but 110k miles is not the end of the world, its got a new NCT and sure if it has no problems, won't it do the job?
When you are a bangernomics driver, you leave your pride and pretentions behind
1250 for a car with a new Nct is surely not expensive in the current market
Nope, literally anything with cheap tax and a new NCT is worth around €1000 these days.
That Daewoo is Champions League Bangernomics.
Cheap to buy, cheap to run, reliable, long NCT and people leave you the fup alone when you're driving and using it. Easy to find in the car park as well.
'Nobody likes this, I don't care.'
And it's so refreshing to drive something that you can be ok without worrying about door dings etc
And when/if you finally do move into a nicer motor it makes you appreciate the new car that bit more.
"And when/if you finally do move into a nicer motor it makes you appreciate the new car that bit more."
That should have been Daewoo's slogan!
We had a 2003 one (hatch not saloon) back 7 years ago, bought it for 400 euro and drove it for a year before scrapping it for 100 euro. True bangernomics! Gives you some idea of the inflation in the market.
Wasn't the worst little car to be honest, though I do remember doing about 350km in a day in it up the West of Ireland and I was fairly crippled getting out!
🤣🤣
Ok Mods, thread might need to be renamed Bangernomics Anonymous.
While I am in agreement, when you see your addiction on some other poor soul, it jolts you. We live in the shadows my friends.
Being sold by a dealer who says the car will come with a new test.
If so, then €2,950 makes it Bangernomics. These were a dodgy buy a few years back due to the questionable build quality, but I think almost everything that usually goes wrong can be fixed with YouTube tutorials. This one badly needs a polish, but it's about as cheap as you'll get them going forward.
If you want one long term then they're about 3.5-4 years away from classic status.

That looks surprisingly small in the back. The drivers seat looks like it's in roughly the same position I'd have it in and the legroom behind seems very tight for a long spin
looks clean , no mileage listed so high. NCT to Nov

Never understood why peeps don't make better pics of the cars they intend to sell.
The only car I would buy with an ad that old would be a DeLorean.

I think this is a real French bargain .
Gone
Road tax of €1250!!!!!
Jesus Mother of Christus!
Never realized they were a 4 wheel steering version.
Don't expect Top Gear to be too complimentary in their review.
That's a killer on a 2 litre car. Old c.c. rate would be €710.
This bangernomics thread is for sub 3K cars, soo you are making the assumption that 'Sean' will knock 20% off the asking price. I wouldn't be soo sure. In fact Sean strikes me as the kind that mightn't even knock €50 off.
