All these foward store cattle that are been bought in the marts, are they been supplied to feedlots or going directly to factories? What my fear is, is that if they are going to feedlots there is a time coming when they will try and control the price and start acting up, also the base price is a long way behind flat prices, continentals are making 7€ flat, what would the base price want to be to match 7€ even allowing for the cattle to be underage? Bass reves made this point a while ago, even though I always have done better flat than grid and always choose flat if it’s an option, but this would be a worry that the price could drop quick enough if they got a run on things.
I know one man that fattens all his cattle off grass usually August, September, around 100 or more but he has over 50 gone to the mart the past few weeks with more to go, he is getting savage prices
Angus beef in Scotland is the equivalent of 8e a kg.
Was told cow finishers have a price guarantee of 7e flat till June.
twill be 8 here too soon and not far away just not enough cattle to satisfy demand
I was looking at the organic sale in 6mile today and I didn’t see much of any premium over the conventional in ring 1.
what’s the factory organic price at the moment?
If cows are guaranteed 7€ flat till June what would you exspect steers to be in June?
It's actually not.
Honestly don't know. I'm very mindful of the cure for high prices is high prices. Supermarket weight reduction has masked the high prices but for how long more.
Organic beef getting a rough ride just like the organic lamb atm. Apart from the subsidises there's no advantage.

If you sell finished cattle in the mart is it possible from the ICBF to see there slaughter weights. I have done an animal search with the tag number but no slaughter weight appears
Go into movements, select the animal, go to other and scroll to the bottom
If you have herdplus you and see this data by following these steps. View profiles>movements> select the animal and then the other tab from the group of tabs. Will be at the very end of it.
Got that a month ago
Found it this was. Two heifers have no data so I suspect they went to NI
probably is. Some data can be slow too
It's 5 weeks
Ashbourne
7:15 flat Angus heifers
Can you send cattle to the factory that are out of test?
Yes
How much are r grade cows un the factory this week
Kk mart today 38 month fr bullocks weighing 758kgs made 2,820e.
It’s getting dearer and dearer every week, Thurles was on fire Monday also
There's top prices in KK today, I added in the age of the animals.
Will the factories start to match these numbers or will the marts just get busier?
going by that the factory’s are a nice bit behind,
So kill out at 50% you'd want to be getting a flat rate of €7.45 from the factory.
Crazy prices, great to see. Anyone get a price from a factory this week for bullocks?
Yea I was reckoning 7.50. They are Simmentals on the cards but I'd say their grandfather had some bit of a sm in him somewhere.
Being to a few marts lately and noticed very few dealers cattle going through the rings. You would think it be a dealers paradise since last November. You couldn't lose moving cattle every week.
What's cow price lads, U and R grade?
heard up to 6.60 for us. 6.40 rs.
