I'm at the global launch of the Volvo ES90. I likey...video to come later today. 700km range with 300km of range in just 10 mins.
looks good.
Any pricing?
Will be the summer before Irish pricing Im told. UK Prices 69k
Video out now
I love it, the front is absolutely stunning, and the interior. The boot is rather small given it's proportions but I could live with that because it's a hatch. I hope they release an estate version. Either way, it's top of my list to buy after somebody takes 3 years depreciation hit.
I think it looks great, better than the EX90. But as I said with that car, I'm not going near any future Volvos that are so touch screen dependant.
Did that extra tarrif ever come on china cars from the EU, could make it very expensive here even though it's already very expensive.
The EX90 looks a bit strange in person, someone in my area bought a black one. Another neighbour bought a new XC90 facelift, which I think looks more elegant. Maybe my opinion will change once I see the EX90 in a different colour.
Volvo have a couple of plants in Europe - I know my XC40 was built in Belgium
The EX definatley looks smaller on the inside, the loading isn't as wide or my eyes decieved me.
It's bigger than the XC. Annoyingly wider, but I think the packaging of the space isn't great when you compare it to the EV9. I was expecting them to do a lot more with the platform.
I wish they kept the tactile clicky buttons around the infotainment area and steering wheel like in the XC90. It's crazy how clickly buttons have become a feature only for high-end marques like Bentley or budget brands like Dacia. I despise the haptic button trend. It's feels so cheap using haptic on such an expensive SUV like the EX90.
Its disappointing that this new '90 is merely a light retouching of the Polestar 4. A bulky SUV crossover, and having driven the P4, remarkably wide, accentuated further by Irish roads.
Very uninventive of Geely, and a big disappointment for those that enjoy a traditional 3 box sports saloon profile with a bit of finesse.
The mock-ups going around were like this, so it is a let down.
I should have said loading space, I had a 3 seather couch in the back of mine a few weeks ago, when we looked at the ex last week it sure did look like a smaller opening.
I miss the old mode select dial that existed before the AAOS updates. Changing drive modes is such a pain in the arse at the moment.
The Renault 5 is jam packed with buttons. I don’t know the quality of the buttons, but they’re still something to press… which makes me wonder why the EX30 couldn’t do it. VAG, Mercedes, BMW and have all acknowledged that trying remove the buttons completely was a mistake. It’s like Volvo are five years behind on where the UI/UX for cars lies.
Crap seat controls, crap rear window controls, crap glovebox and lack of even half a dozen physical buttons below the screen is just total penny pinching.
They've lost a potential customer in me for that alone. It's just such an utterly basic part of interacting with a car that I can't forgive it. I'm not joking in the slightest when I say I'd pay 10k more for a car with proper controls than one without.
You can talk to it, hey Erik turn up the heating.
I get you though, had a lend of a 1.0 liter polo yesterday while mine in for a service, such a novelty to turn down the heating. A thirsty beast though compared to an EV.
Not when the system is randomly rebooting. Nor can you if you’ve changed your Google password and forget to update it on the car. Also irritatingly, Googles new spammy “did you know Google can also” somehow manages to trigger another action inside AAoS (although I’m not sure if CarPlay played some part of that)
Lovely.
TG in UK are saying it’s a £70k plus car.
Very strong bang of large Polestar 2 off it. Which seems natural tbh the design language seems similar across their company ranges.
Ah it should't be doing that, we've had 2 Volvo and no issues like that, Something seriously wrong if it it's rebooting constantly. Easy log in if you change the password as well if you've 2fa set up.
i think it looks great i dont see how its a light retouch of the P4 to be honest, the design language is there alright but it think it looks good as a sportback saloon.
I'll go further then. Its not just a light retouch, its exactly the same car in 99% of respects.
And it won't look anything like a sports saloon, because the Polestar 4 is 1,536mm high, and the ES90 has an even higher roof line of 1,550mm.
For comparison, the outgoing S90 saloon has a roofline max of just 1,436mm. A full 11.5 cms lower than this new messy crossover of awfulness.
Between the 4 and the ES90, I wouldn't squint, or you'll be very confused.
didnt realise it was so high, i still like it!
lovely looking car but it’s at least a year away from release in right hand drive apparently and will be too expensive.
Polestar have already had to introduce a basic spec car at a lower price to get buyers for the polestar 4.
Big Volvo saloons don’t have a great track record for high sales either.
Irish prices now out . Starts at €82100 for the base model.
Low volume seller so.
On that centre console tablet, could they not have tried to integrate it - a la Model S - for a tidier finish? it just looks wrong sitting out on it's own there, and with a clashing bezel colour. Looks like a Galaxy Tab dropped in at the last minute.
agreed. You can spec one on the website now.
Base spec is ok, nothing special for the price.
Might make a good used buy and I could see them coming in from the UK in a few years at keen prices.
Like all Volvos though, they be a rock solid robust buy. Many Volvo owners stay in the Volvo family when changing too.
is it not a polestar 4 in a different dress though?
You can get one of them mid fifties now for the base model with the same battery.
