Totally agree that it was very bad from senior management. Just to be clear I don't blame the manager of the individual shops, as I'd imagine they were in the dark about the closures.
I think the parking issue is, and this is my opinion, there is a huge amount of people who are just lazy and don't want to walk the extra few steps. It's a convenience thing. Of course not everyone is like that. If you have to similar shops selling mostly the same products, but one has park outside the door, I'd bet that this one is the busiest.
A queue down to the Main Guard this morning of people to get into New Look closing down sale. I feel sorry for the staff.
Clonmel town centre actually seems to getting worse, if this is possible.
Take Mitchell Street for example. It looks pretty bad now.
It should be a great little street with the opportunity for a little outdoor seating for food/coffee businesses, when the weather allows.
Sadly the appearence of the street gets worse year on year. Every time some utility comes to dig up a little bit, they cover it over with tarmac, not the paving bricks that were there originally. These are small things but they are permitted to happen by the Council.
A fish rots from the head down and the leadership of the Council and the laughable 'Clonmel Town Team' is shocking.
It's all very well putting out floral tubs in the spring/summer but sadly, it's little more than turd polishing.
Speaking of turds, the widespread dog sh*t on the pavements is a disgrace.
Also, what the hell are people feeding dogs these days? Some of them look like cow pats!
Anyway, my point is if the little, cheap/free things aren't done by the council and property owners in the town centre - and indeed citizens - there is little point in massive investment at the moment.
My god. I was in Clonmel over the weekend and it is SHOCKING how bad it looks. Went up to Vera Hewitt's to get some sausage rolls and gone (Got them in that "No Filter" place). The whole town looks like it's shut down. Only place with a bit of life is Parnell Street area down to the plaza.
Talking to my family ad they said there are no clubs/late-night bars for under 25-year-olds. So what is someone 18-25 supposed to do? What is there there for that age group? It's mental and depressing. Only last year I thought the town was picking up but I think there is only about 4 places open on Mitchel Street.
Shame the same gang didn't shop there regulary. It might have helped.
There's barber shops!
apt song for Clonmel Town Centre at the minute

Town team will only be sighted again at the St Patrick’s Day parade!
The prices are pretty bad when i was in there with my OH, she was saying everything i picked up to look at was cheaper by like 50-75% their last sale.
the problems in clonmel town are simple. It is gone so rough with junkies and the T army, the people living in the surrounds will not go into to the town anymore. I went to boots one Sunday Morning before Xmas and was accosted in the car park , I was fine as I am used it due to my job but no woman Is going to choose to enter that town if they have to put up with entering a horror show.
That must have been a awful experience for you. Were you physically assaulted?.
But I wonder how representative it is of most people's experience. I'd hazard a guess that 100s of people a day and 1000s a week use the car park, and to the best of my knowledge the vast vast majority do so without any issues. There's no doubt that the amount of druggies are after increasing in the last 5/10 years, and certainly take from the experience of the town.
Ps. You shouldn't have to put up with being accosted in your work.
What is the T army?
And Nail Bars….
and vape shops, another one opening on the Narrow Street(ex Kelly’s corner)
must be some money in the nail bar game though, that Blooming nails place seems to be packed all the time and expanding into Ger Ambrose’s shop also
Fools and their money are soon parted.I don't see the allure of one and a half inch nails prouting from fingers.
Think of the stabbing.
That's a bit mean. I get my nails done, I don't have them very long, I work wearing gloves and my natural nails were constantly breaking. They looked horrible. And as to your "fools" comment. How anyone spends their money is surely their business without the need for that remark.
Over my head,I think!
Maybe getting a better quality of gloves from your employer might help.
I think nails like that one woman from the wizard of oz musical prequel gives nails a bad idea in people's heads.
Or anyone with 6 inch nails, they look like they're for stabbing and would be uncomfortable.
Ah ok,I was thinking of another use.
You're right.
Possibly because you can't get nails done online ,you have to be there . Vapes too if you want them immediately .Still something is funding all the SUVs so the town can't be broke . Are businesses playing poor mouth?
Nothing to do with the quality of the gloves. And I work in Quality, so I probably have a better idea than you.
I still think that you're "fools" comment was ignorant and rude.
Don't agree with you.I'm allowed an opinion. No need to start name calling .
I didn't call you a name, I said your comment was ignorant and rude.
You called people who spend money on getting their nails done "fools". Who's name-calling now?
Just after hearing that Kate Ryan pub is to close. Another business gone, sad to see
I see a post on the facebook page of the Clonmel Concerned Residents, that a woman was raped by two men in the lane beside Morans pub 2 weeks ago. They post a hell of a lot n that page with checking facts...Has anyone on here heard anything about that happening?
Terrible to see places closing.
Imagine there will be more to come - pub trade a dying game nationwide
