Similar here everything bought off the camera
Yes.
Yeah 95% of anything I buy online I haven’t seen beforehand.
Do have anyone at the mart texting numbers.
No. The odd time a lad will ring to say there is a great pen of cattle in whatever pen or lot number but when it’s come to it every other man would have them picked out too.
It’s hard to see an animal right stuck in the middle of a pen with other cattle anyway. The ring is the best place. The screen is not an ideal way but it works for me. Might have an odd dud but can also have cattle home that are better than I thought.
I have 18 cattle 24 to 27 months old weighting up to 730kg.
Is it madness to go to the factory while the mart I would be getting €4 plus a kg, going by today in Kilkenny.
Is anyone killing similar animals and what are the prices like from the factories?
You are heading for €7.50 a kg dead weight at that money. No factory paying that yet.
Looking in there myself….unbelievable prices.
I know Kilkenny is always up in price but it's nuts there today.
Is it factory men?
Is there anyone traveling from the North to KK?
If the factories want to keep up with exports they may get moving.
link wont share
I have 3 stores I want to sell, 500-600kg, only 3 weeks till tb test. Prefer to off load now. Will can feedlots still buy them and finish without issue?
Any farmer can have a certain percentage of out of test cattle in their herd, especially if they going for beef shortly.
Feedlots are prob restricted herds anyhow... make feck all difference
would anything above €6.40 flat rate be worth taking for heavy friesian bullocks? No bord Bia and 36 months
You could push for a lot more I'd say or try the mart, it's on fire this week
It was probably the northern men as they can pay more for cattle. Northern guys in kilkenny for sometime as motorway is an advantage plus it's a big mart.
They must have been stuck, flicking through the sales list.
Was there myself. Good trade. Was offered 7 flat for these yesterday.
Looks like you made a euro plus more over the factory price.
Fair play.
I have 10 limousine and Charolais heifers all over 30 months . Factory near me gives base price on these type. Free transport from yard here too , what’s a fair base price?
There are no rules or regulations in this current climate. 40 month cattle or and both 5 moves sames as in spec. They are not doing you a favour, your stock is worth the same as in spec.
so what price should I be looking for? Will I put up pics?
No less than €7. Was offered it for overage continental bullocks last week. Some over 36 months.
P grade cows 620 now. That's some jump in ten days. I see store cows in mautys fri grass cows bought by grazers for the end of August 530kg making 1450 FREELY!
Financing must surly come into it at some stage but when they'd kill anything with a pulse it's hard to see it.
I know it's probably been discussed at some stage back along but can anyone enlighten me as to what is causing this surge in beef price?
Inflation over 30 years only hitting farm gate now because of scarcity across Europe coupled with scarcity across US and throw in bluetongue stopping shipping from everywhere across Europe except Ireland to keep processors sharp
fellas getting 7.40 for Angus next week
Jesus....ill be killing my organic stock conventionally at this rate...
Wonder where will it stop. €8 isn’t unrealistic now.
the short answer is demand outstripping supply
population increase
green policies
increased regulation
more dairy beef
less sucker beef
labour cost
all playing their part
who knows what it will look like next month or next christmas but it is most welcome to the humble suckler men and women
